FRENCH FM'S PARADOXICAL REMARKS ON IRAN

France’s foreign minister has emphasized the broadening of ties between his country and the Islamic Republic of Iran, but tainted his remarks with paradoxical statements. According to IRIB, Bernard Kouchner, who recently made meddling remarks on Iran’s presidential elections, said in a news conference in Paris on Tuesday that France will maintain its ties and discussions with Iran during the second tenure of Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s presidency.
He added: France will keep in touch with Iranian officials as before and is not intent on cutting diplomatic relations.
But Kouchner again expressed France’s support for the rioters who burnt and looted public and private property in some parts of Tehran.
He also repeated the stereotyped allegations against Iran’s peaceful nuclear programme and said new sanctions are being studied in this regard.
