Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad opened a new laser research center in Tehran Thursday evening. According to IRNA, after the inauguration ceremony the president visited different parts of the center which is to focus on the laser sciences and technologies. He said the self-reliance of Iranian young scientists was the force behind the current progressive move of the country.

He said it was an undeniable fact that the high motives of Iran’s young scientists who were working in these areas would push Iran towards the highest peaks of science and technology.
The research center will conduct studies and produce items in such areas as industrial laser, the laser equipment used in different kinds of surgeries for medical purposes and the extra use of laser in agriculture and microbiology.
