Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in a meeting with the members of the headquarters in charge of holding 20th anniversary of passing away of Imam Khomeini (may his soul rest in peace) said on Monday that the Father of the Islamic Revolution’s everlasting and firm principles, which have been extracted from the core context of Islam, are the keys that attracted the support of the nations and the intellectuals in the Islamic world. According to IRIB, he called the late Imam a symbol of Islam, and a key to preserve national independence, dignity, and unity, stressing that after 20 years of his passing away, Imam Khomeini is considered a symbol of Islam among the Iranian nation and the Muslim world and this an undeniable fact.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the late Imam, without being affected the least by the definitions raised by the West and East on the issue of intellectualism, came up with a vivid explanation from a genuine Islam, while taking pride of it.
Because of this, the Supreme Leader noted, hearts of the nations and intellectuals across the Islamic world are captivated and fascinated by this God granted character.
In another part of his speech, he pointed to the enemies’ plots over the past 100 years to inculcate a feeling of humiliation among the Iranian nation, and said Imam Khomeini (may his soul rest in peace) turned the Iranians into a proud nation in the face of the world bullying powers.
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, said the unity of different Iranian ethnicities, followers of different religions, and various social and political currents, inspired by Imam Khomeini was a manifestation of the late Imam’s capacity for strengthening of unity.
He further called the Iranian people, whether Sunnis or Shiites, different ethnic, political and social groups to preserve and reinforce unity as a priceless legacy of the late Imam.
Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated that in all issues such as the elections, all should act based on the common principles including the Constitution, and while respecting each other and observing the common principles, do not allow a few trivial and natural discrepancies of opinions tarnish the national unity.
