JNN 03 Sep 2011 Manama :According to Al-Wasat, 2500 egyptian teachers were brought to replace sacked bahraini Shia workers who asked for rights and freedom.
On 22nd August 2011, 2500 state workers in Bahrain were dismissed from their jobs for taking part in nation-wide protests against the ruling of Al-Khalifa dynasty.
The sackings have affected a total of over 13,000 people in the tiny Persian Gulf sheikhdom.
Rights groups have blasted the Bahraini regime and state-linked firms for unlawfully terminating employees.
During his speech, King Hamad also promised to reinstate employees and students who have been dismissed for participating in anti-regime protests.
Bahrain Center for Human Rights President Nabeel Rajab noted that nothing had really changed since the king’s speech and the killing of protesters was continuing, saying, “The picture of the situation on the ground is totally different from the speech he delivered.”
Wahabi recruitments from Pakistani and Saudi forces have played a major role in suppressing peaceful anti-government protests since the beginning of unrests in Bahrain.
