After Friday’s prayed thousands of Yemenis rallied in Al Sabeen Square in the capital Sana’a and strongly condemned the Israeli troops’ incursion into Al-Aqsa Mosque last Sunday on September 27 along with Jewish radicals.
Demonstrators said this Israeli break-in which comes on the 9th occasion of Al-Aqsa Itifada indicates that Israel insists on infringing Muslims’ sacred shrine and provoke Muslims’ feelings. They warned Israel of any new escalation in the region. Placards raised in the protest called Arab and Muslim peoples to stand against “Zionist flagrant violations against the holy city of Al-Quds.”
They also called on ministers of endowments and foreign affairs in all Arab and Muslim countries to hold a conference to discuss the Israeli infringements and Judaization campaign.
Early last Sunday, clashes erupted between Palestinians in the eastern part of al-Quds and the Israeli police as a group of Jewish radicals broke into the yard of al-Aqsa Mosque. About 16 Palestinians and several Israeli police were injured in the clashes.
Lebanon has become the hostage of unexpected Arab coordination after being the hostage of escalating inter-Arab dispute, senior Shiite cleric Ayatollah Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah said on Friday during a sermon he gave at the Imamayn al-Hassanayn Mosque in Haret Hreik.
Fadlallah said that Lebanon had arrived at the point where it was ready to receive any news from across the ocean saying that the US had decided to make peace in the Arab region.
“Congratulations to the Lebanese for the foreign understanding on their internal affairs,” he said.
Fadlallah also tackled the Palestinian issue during his sermon and said that Israel had entered a new phase of making occupied Jerusalem fully Jewish.
He explained that the violent incidents that occurred at the Al-Aqsa Mosque on Sunday were part of Israel’s strategy to deny the mosque its holy status. Israel was reducing the importance of the mosque by letting its soldiers step inside it, Fadlallah added.
Fadlallah placed the blame on the Arab countries for the increasing Israeli violations, saying “Israel would not have been able to expand its aggressions had the Arab world and the Muslim world made one step toward stopping the Israeli invasion,” he said.
Lebanon cannot be saved if its people cannot reach agreement, said the prominent Shiite religious figure Sheikh Abdul Amir Qabalan on Friday during a sermon at the Imam al-Hussein Ben Ali Mosque in Burj al-Barajneh.
Qabalan expressed his hope during the sermon that Premier-designate Saad Hariri would be able to form a government soon as not to “leave the country in the middle of international and regional disputes.”
He called on everyone to take responsibility, saying it was “shameful that the Lebanese have to wait for others to agree before they reach an accord.”
Qabalan also referred to the Al-Aqsa Mosque violence that occurred last Sunday and asked all Arab leaders to stay united.
“The quickest way to preserve Jerusalem is to maintain your unity and stand by the Palestinian people,” he said, addressing the country’s leaders.
Qabalan during his sermon condemned the UAE for taking “unfair and unjustified measures against the Lebanese Shias.”
The Israeli regime releases 19 Palestinian female prisoners in exchange for a minute-long proof-of-life videotape of a captured Israeli soldier.
Eighteen of the detainees crossed into the West Bank aboard Red Cross vans to a sea of cheering relatives and friends from an Israeli military base in the occupied Palestinian territory.
The 19th woman crossed in a Red Cross van into Gaza through the Erez checkpoint.
The Israelis, in return, received a video of Gilad Shalit, who was taken hostage in June 2006.
The content of the video in not known yet.
However, unconfirmed media reports say the two-week old tape shows Shalit in civilian dress against the background of a banner emblazoned with the logo of Hamas’ military wing.
Israelis said the video was authenticated before the women were released and the soldier’s family was expected to view the videotape before its release to the public.
The swap is a major breakthrough in three years of efforts to free Shalit.
Israelis are hopeful that in the coming months, the more important deal, for Shalit’s release, will be finalized.
The sources said they are cautiously optimistic, both because of the German mediator’s success in establishing a framework for negotiations and because completion of Friday’s exchange will build confidence on both sides.
The Israeli regime holds more than 10,000 Palestinian prisoners.
The Islamic resistance movement Hamas is negotiating for the release of hundreds of its members in exchange for Shalit.
