JNN 2nd September 2026, Tehran / Amman: The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says its forces have struck the command compound and living quarters of the US commander at Kuwait’s Ali Al-Salem Air Base, setting fire to a drone hangar and deployment ramp and destroying a number of drones.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the IRGC’s Public Relations Department said the operation was carried out in response to a US attack on civilians in Iran.
The explosions were heard in the counties of Sirik, Bandar Abbas, Qeshm and Jask in Hormozgan, Konarak and Chabahar in Sistan and Baluchestan province, Jiroft in Kerman province, and Asaluyeh in Bushehr province, Iranian media reported.
Nearly 70 civilians were affected in the attack, with five people, including a child, killed.
The retaliation came after US forces turned a young Sunni couple’s wedding ceremony in Sirik, southern Iran, into a mourning ceremony by bombing a residential house, it said.
In response to this crime, at dawn today, the fighters of the IRGC Ground Force, simultaneously with attacks on US bases in Jordan, Bahrain and Erbil, Iraq carried out a combined missile-and-drone Attack. On the U.S. Ali Al Salem Air Base they targeted the accommodation of a U.S. commander.
Kuwait’s fire service said crews put out a blaze at a residential complex early on Wednesday that was struck by an Iranian drone causing damage. While at Erbil in northern Iraq, claiming to have also killed several U.S. personnel there.
“American evil in the region will be met with heavier, more widespread, and devastating responses, and any country that cooperates with the aggressive American army must accept its dangerous consequences,” Iran’s military command said.
The IRGC added that the attack killed a number of US personnel and was followed by strikes on a drone hangar and the ramp used to deploy drones involved in attacks against Iran. It said several drones were destroyed and the hangar was set ablaze.
Addressing the Kuwaiti people, the IRGC said, “You know well about our affection and affinity with you. What pains and concerns us is the occupation of Islamic lands by the child-killing and terrorist US military.”
The statement added that the attacks were intended to help “cleanse the pure land and generous homeland of Kuwait from the presence of American infidels.”
The IRGC expressed hope for “the destruction of US domination and the Zionist regime and the freedom and independence of the noble people of Kuwait from the occupying aggressors.”
Iran also said two tankers had been struck by mines while being steered across the Strait of Hormuz by U.S. operatives through a channel that Tehran says it has closed.
US TARGETED A SUNNI FAMILY WEDDING IN IRAN
Iran reported at least 12 deaths from the night of U.S. strikes, with five people including a four-year-old said to have been killed while celebrating a wedding at a home in Sirik, a town along the coast of the strait.
Video filmed by Iran’s West Asia News Agency at the purported site showed rubble strewn across rooms and a courtyard of a home. A pair of strappy women’s dress sandals lay abandoned on a blood-soaked carpet.
“I am just glad the casualties weren’t even worse,” said Ali Molahi, identified as the father of the bride.
Iranian media said as many as 68 people were wounded there, and released images of several injured children in hospital. Iranian officials compared the incident to a strike on a girls’ school that killed 160 people on the war’s first night.
The U.S. military’s Central Command said it struck Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps air defences, radar systems, maritime assets, mine-laying capabilities and communications sites on Tuesday. Iranian media reported hits on multiple targets near the Strait of Hormuz — the narrow waterway where Tehran has threatened tankers attempting to pass without its permission.
This latest flare-up comes just days after the US conducted strikes on the Iranian island of Larak in the Strait of Hormuz, which Washington claimed was aimed at preventing Tehran from planting mines.
In response, Iran launched missile and drone attacks targeting US forces stationed in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.

While Washington has used up much of its stocks of air defence munitions and burned through its precision long-range missiles.
Asian, European & US stocks fell after the renewed U.S. airstrikes, which pushed oil prices back up to levels unseen since July, compounding the economic impact of a global sell-off in bonds as disrupted energy supplies fuel inflation worldwide. Prices continued climbing early Wednesday, with Brent trading above $95 and WTI above $91.
