JNN 30th August 2026 Beijing : President Xi Jinping has officially removed two top Generals and 10 other lawmakers from their posts following intense anti-corruption investigations.
This sweeping purge is part of a massive, ongoing anti-corruption crackdown targeting high-level leadership within the People’s Liberation Army (PLA)
State media agency Xinhua and Reuters confirmed that a total of 12 names were stripped of their parliamentary seats in the National People’s Congress (NPC).
This sweeping purge represents the latest escalation in a years-long anti-graft drive targeting the high command of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
General Zhang Youxia was second-in-command under Xi as vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) and a member of China’s elite Politburo. General Liu Zhenli was a CMC member and chief of staff of the CMC’s Joint Staff Department.
China’s parliament confirmed the removal of 12 deputies, including high-profile military figures such as former CMC Vice Chairman Zhang Youxia, Joint Staff Department Chief Liu Zhenli, CMC General Office Director Zhong Shaojun, Strategic Support Force Commander Ju Qiansheng, and state aerospace executive Gao Shiwen, alongside seven other officials.
The purge leaves the Central Military Commission with only two active members alongside President Xi Jinping.
The military has been one of the main targets of a broader corruption crackdown ordered by Xi in 2012.
Last month, Xi urged senior leaders of the ruling Communist Party to deepen the fight against corruption in the military. The years-long campaign has seen scores of senior officials and top generals investigated, removed and purged.
Probes center on “serious violations of discipline and law,” pointing to graft in procurement and military branches
China has parallel Communist Party and state CMC structures but they function as a single institution.
The list also included Gao Shiwen, former mayor of the southern Chinese city of Nanchang, who previously worked at state-owned aerospace and defence giant China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.
Separately, China’s top political advisory body on Wednesday stripped Zhao Zongqi, a former commander of the Western Theatre Command during the 2020 China-India border clashes, of his membership.
As History tells us Accountability is the Key factor in the success of any Nation , And the same is the case in China’s over whelming success, especially in the last 45 years , as a Nation of 455 M in 1946, 981M in 1980 , and at present 1.4B , with the poverty rate around 90% in 1980, which has come to around 2% at present. This is all due to a system of Accountability , with check & Balance for everybody & anybody.
China has territorial disputes with about 17 neighboring countries/territories, though only a handful — Japan, Vietnam, the Philippines, India, and Taiwan — are currently active flashpoints. And still without involvement in a major war on territorial disputes with any , unlike USA which is involved in creating chaos in other countries China is a Major Decision maker , a World Super power , just due to Governance with zero tolerance for corruption, has made China invincible today.
