JNN 22nd June 2026 : On Sunday Evening a tragic incident happened when a speeding Suzuki Loading van rammed into the Womens enclosure of the Mourners , crossing all the Barricades , and piercing through the Tent Enclosure of Men, critically wounding Women & Children , in which one young Girls succumbed to her injuries while critically injuring a large No. Women mourners.
Scholar Shehenshan Naqvi was about to Deliver a Speech at the Imambargah Baqiatullah , DHA , Ph.6, Karachi, when a Fast Moving vehicle crashed into the Women Enclosure of the Mourners , crossing all the barriers , and piercing through Tents erected on the Main Road of Sabah Ave. P.S Darakhshan.
As per the details 3 Men , who have gone to the Seaview for some illegal activities , who were highly intoxicated were asked to stop at a Police Check point , instead of complying with the Local Police Orders , they tried to sped away , and turned towards the Sabah avenue , where the commemoration was being held , and the Baricades were erreceted , but in a state of intoxication ,and the fear of Being apprehended by the Police , the Driver of the Suzuki van , crossed all the Baricades , and then firstly crashed into the tents erected for Mens, where a small number of Men were Present, as most of the Men were in the Building of the Imambargah and finally in the same speed , without applying any brakes , he crashed into the Womens Wing , where a large No. of women were Present , resulting injuries to a No. of Women due to the accident , finally the vehicle after injuring a number of Women & Children turtle turned due to loss of control of the driver after crashing into the footpath, in which the Driver was also injured .Who was later taken into Police custody of Darakhan P.S.
The injured were rushed to the Jinnah Hospital , where injured with minor injuries were released after treatment , and the Critcally Injured were shifted to Aga Khan Hospital.
Those currently in custody include the driver, Zahid, and a passenger also named Zahid who was sitting in the back. Police have apprehended the third individual who fled the scene after the accident.
Following an initial investigation, the police conducted a raid in Qasba Colony. All suspects were detained, Momin, the third individual who fled after the crash, has also been taken into custody. Sources state that two of the individuals belong to Qasba Kati Pahari, while one is from Banaras. The Darakhshan Police have conducted medical tests on all three detained individuals. According to initial reports from police sources, all three individuals were intoxicated. The Suzuki driver was also severely injured in the crash and is currently undergoing medical treatment. Police sources added that a case regarding the incident will be registered by the Imambargah’s management administration.
