JNN 16 Apr 2013 ISLAMABAD – Courts in Pakistan have disqualified former President Pervez Musharraf for contesting parliamentary elections for suspending the constitution and imposing emergency in 2007 during his rule, lawyers said Tuesday.

Musharraf returned to Pakistan last month after more than four years of self-exile to take part in the May 11 general election, but the former army chief has been at the centre of numerous political and legal difficulties since his return.

Musharraf wanted to stand for a National Assembly seat from four constituencies including capital Islamabad but his nomination papers were rejected by the election authorities.

He had filed appeals against rejections of papers by the local election authorities in three areas Karachi, Kasur in Punjab province and Islamabad, but his appeals were also rejected in the Election Tribunals, comprising judges of high courts.

“Yes, his paper has been rejected by the high court. We will file an appeal  in the Supreme Court,” Musharraf’s lawyer Ahmed Raza Kasuri said on Tuesday.

Musharraf’s papers were only accepted in the northern Chitral district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, however, his political rivals had challenged acceptance of papers.

A three-member Election Tribunal on Tuesday accepted objections by Musharraf’s rivals and disqualified him for contesting election from Chitral.

Lawyers of the rival candidates said that Musharraf had abrogated the constitution and that he is also facing cases in courts and is not-eligible to stand for the parliamentary seat.

They also argued that Chitral is a peaceful area and Musharraf’ s election could create law and order problem.

Pakistani Taliban in a video have warned to attack Musharraf. The 69-year-old, who faces Taliban death threats, applied to run for parliament in four seats (Chitral, Islamabad, Kasur and Karachi) but was rejected immediately from all but the northern district of Chitral, which was later Rejected on the grounds it was challenged by his rivals .

Mushararf, who ruled Pakistan 1999-2008, was disqualified a day after he announced election manifesto of his All Pakistan Muslim League party.

The former president on Monday unveiled the manifesto of his All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) party, promising to lead the crisis-ridden country towards prosperity, despite the “hurdles” in his way.

The Supreme Court is hearing a separate petition from lawyers demanding that Musharraf, who ruled Pakistan from 1999-2008, face trial for treason.

He also faces court proceedings over the killing of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto in 2007, a rebel from the region of Baluchistan in 2006, and for sacking judges when he imposed emergency rule.

Meanwhile, a Pakistani official said a bomb in the country’s southwest hit a convoy of vehicles carrying a candidate in the country’s upcoming parliamentary election, killing three people and wounding seven others.

Legal experts say that Musharraf has the right to appeal in the Supreme Court.

But the Biased Chief Justice of Pakistan , whose Cousin Brother Rana Sana Ullah of PML – N , has established linkages and understanding with the Banned Terrorist Organization Sipah e Sahaba Pakistan , and Lashkar e Jhangvi , who are associates of Tehrik e Taliban Pakistan , which are working openly against the state and Openly Defy and Challenge the State , now clearly shows that the whole Judiciary working in the Leadership of CJP is connected to the terrorist Organizations , through their Proxies , as during their tenure the Terrorists are being freed and if even convicted , then their Death Penalties , are being extended to keep them alive till they get a chance , to pardon them and set them free.

It is a moment of deep thought for all of the Pakistani Citizens , that the Criminals are being given chance to be elected and represent the Pakistani Nation, while the Personalities like Ex Chief of Army Staff and Ex President of Pakistan Pervez Musharaf , who Put the falling Pakistan on the right track and the economy boomed upto such a level , that the Pakistan came out of the clutches of Institutions like IMF , and under whose tenure the Growth rate of Pakistan was touching the Double figures , but the Only crime he ever did was that he was Loyal to the Nation , and took a clear stand against the enemies of Pakistan , whether the Anti State Baloch Rebel Leaders who have usurped the rights of the Balochs, since the Independence of Pakistan , Or the Anti State and Anti Islam Tehrik e Taliban Pakistan , and their Allied Groups which tried to take over Islamabad , Operating from Lal Masjid , but were brought to the Book and were given a Hard Kick on their back , and all their crimes were Put infront of the Innocent Pakistani Public .
