JNN 19 Mar 2013 Karachi : At least 450 Pakistanis who were sent to Bahrain to join its army were deported back home on 14th March after allegedly being kept hostage for 19 months, Press reported on Thursday.
The young Pakistanis, who are all university graduates, were issued visas on the recommendations of Pakistani government and were promised a job in the Bahrain Army with the starting salary of Rs100,000. The Bahraini Army, however, took the young men hostage and tortured them, according to one of the deportees.
The men were not given food and access to toilets for five days and were not allowed to phone their family and friends back home.
Around 100 more Pakistanis are expected to be deported Later in the week .
The young men, protesting against the Bahrain government, urged the United Nations to take notice of the incident.
It should be noted that when the Uprising started in Bahrain , By the Shia Majority demanding their Legal rights and end to discrimination , so in order to crush the uprising , Recruitment Ads were given for Soldiers and Police Officers were given in Pakistans Print Media , And But as there were Huge Protest against these Recruitments from the Pakisatani Shia Community , so the Matter was hushed up , and was concealed , and was told by the official Press , that no such recruitment were being done , But as the Unreliable Bahraini Monarchy has now even slapped on the face of Pakisatani Government in shape of Deportation of these recruited Army Officers , So Now the Pakistani Government should take the Matter seriously , And should severe there relations and trust of the Saudi Backed Bahraini Government , as they are Unreliable .
Last month, around 700 Pakistani workers were stranded in Saudi Arabia after their passports were taken and they were not allowed to work. A Turkish company had hired these Pakistani workers through different travel and recruiting agencies during 2011 after payment of a hefty sum against visa issuance.
