JNN 17 Jan 2013 Lucknow: A Shia man was Martyred and more than a dozen people were injured in an attack on a Majlis (Islamic Lecture) held at Deputy Saheb Ka Imambargah in Wazirganj when the member of the Wahabi sect attacked & fired several rounds and Pelted stones , on the unarmed peaceful attendants of the Majlis on Wednesday night, police said.

Several rounds of gunshots and arson were also reported from the old part of the Uttar Pradesh capital, they said. There was simmering tension between the two Muslim sects for the last one week and as there was provocation and attacks on the shia community members on Wednesday night, they said.

The violence broke out near Deputy Saheb Ka Imambara in Wazirganj area after a religious congregation at a mosque was attacked, leading to several rounds of firing and stone pelting, a senior district police official said.

It was around 9.30pm when Abid Bilgirami finished the Majlis at Wazeerganj area of Lucknow (India) , when a Group of around 100 wahabi takfiri armed with weapons first raised anti Shia slogans followed by throwing stones and started firing on the Participants of the Majlis sitting in the Imambargah and at the same time disconnected the power supply.

“As many as 35 rounds were fired on the Shia Participants of the Mourning.Due to which 12 people were injured and were rushed to Balrampur hospital and Trauma Centre,” said an Eye  Witness.

On the way to the Hospital “The Shia boy who received 3-4 shots in upper and lower part of his body was fatally injured , and could not survive the fatal wounds and embraced Martyrdom on the way ,” said a person, who received the injured at Trauma Center. 

The Principal Secretary (Home), RM Srivastava told a news agency that one person was killed in the incident and the injured were admitted in hospitals.

As the News reached the circles, Imam-e-Juma, Asafi Masjid, Maulana Kalbe Jawwad and President, Shia Chand Committee, Maulana Saif Abbas rushed to trauma.

After the Incident several Hundred Shia Protesters gathered near the hospital demanding for immediate arrest of Wahabis terrorist , the culprits behind the Incident. The DIG (range), Navneet Sikera, District Magistrate (DM)-Lucknow, Anurag Yadav and SSP, RK Chaturvedi assured the protesters that culprits will be arrested soon.

Maulana Kalbe Jawwad gave an ultimatum to the District Administration and State Government that they should arrest the accused before 10 am on Thursday, if it will not happen then we will not bury the remains of martyr and Shias of Lucknow will come roads for to protest until Wahabi Terrorist are not arrested.

Police rushed to the spot and chased away the rioters. The dead man was identified as Shanu. He died due to gunshot wounds, police said. The injured have been admitted to various medical facilities. Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Arun Kumar said that the situation was brought under control immediately.

“Barring a large crowd at the trauma centre, the situation elsewhere in the old city is peaceful and under control,” he said.

Four people were arrested Thursday for their involvement in sectarian violence in Lucknow’s old city areas which left one person dead and over a dozen injured

Officials admitted that the situation was tense but under control in the affected areas including Wazirganj and Thakurganj

“We are keeping a watch on the situation and police parties have been formed to nab the others involved in firing at people outside a mosque last night,” Deputy Inspector General of Police Navneet Sikera told IANS

. Shia clerics Maulana Kalbe Jawwad and Maulana Saif Abbas have asked police to act fast and bring those who fired on innocents to book

Imam Maulana Khalid Rashid Farangi Mahali, the Imam of Aishbagh, said the sooner the arrests were made, the greater the likelihood of normalcy returning to the area.

“Police should not only arrest those behind the clashes but also unravel the conspiracy to disturb peace in the area,” he said.

A man was killed and more than a dozen people were injured in clashes between members of Shia and Sunni sects here Wednesday night, police said.

Several rounds of gunshots were fired, and arson was reported in Old Lucknow. Tension had been simmering between the two sects over last week, and it spilled onto the streets Wednesday night.

Sectarian clashes erupted again in the old city areas Thursday during the funeral procession of a Shia youth killed in Wednesday’s violence, police said. A former BSP MP and others were booked for their role in the violence.

Soon after the body of Shanu was brought out from the morgue and handed over to his family, a mob took over the streets in the old city and pelted stones.

Home-made bombs were thrown at some houses and several rounds of firing reported from Satkhanda area Thakurganj, Hussainabad and in front of the Unity college.
Some shops were also vandalized in Hussainabad.

As the funeral procession of the deceased youth wove its way through Jama Masjid, Tehseenganj, Koneshwar crossing, angry crowds raised slogans and Protested against the heinous crime committed , which resulted in the death of one Shia Man ,and injuring several others.

Shanu’s body was then put at the Medical College crossing for several hours but the situation was defused when Shia cleric Kalbe Jawwad reached the site and pacified the irate mob. The deceased was later buried at Gufran Maab’s Imambara.

Meanwhile police registered five criminal cases in the firing incident Wednesday in which Shanu was killed and a dozen others injured.

Police also booked a former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Dawood, former cooperator Nammu, his brother Kaleem, Sajid and others. Heavy police force has been stationed in the violence-hit areas and the situation continues to be tense.

Police apprehend more trouble Friday after congregational prayers.

IN the Back ground On January 12,four people were injured  when Procession taken out by the Shia was attacked by the Wahabi Mytholgy followers attacked the Procession in the Old City area of the Uttar Pradesh capital.A verbal spat between youngsters from the two groups led to stone pelting, forcing police to use batons to disperse the rioters. The incident took place when a religious procession was going through the Kanghi Waali Gali in Chowk area, towards the Puttan Saheb ki Karbala.

The Wahabis have been involved several activities in the city for disturbing the peace and breaking the Shia-Sunni unity.
