JNN 07 Jan 2013 TEHRAN – Grand Ayatollah Mojtaba Tehrani was laid to rest in the courtyard of Shah Abdol Azim Shrine in Rey in southern Tehran on Thursday.
Grand Ayatollah Agha Mojtaba Kalhor Tehrani (April 4, 1933 – January 1, 2013) was an outstanding student of Imam Khomeini (RA) in Fiqh (jurisprudence), philosophy, ethics, and Irfan (mysticism).
He passed away on January 1, in Tehran, and Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khamenei attended the funeral procession of the great Shia figure.
Ayatollah Tehrani, 77, who was a marja taqlid (a high-ranking Shia cleric who is regarded as a source of emulation), passed away on Wednesday.
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei issued a message on Wednesday offering condolences over the death of Ayatollah Tehrani.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, and Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani also issued separate messages of condolence.
