Shia Vice Principal of Technical College Martyred in the Ongoing Target Killing by SSP terrorist in Karachi

JNN 18 April 2012 Karachi : In the Late Hours of Tuesday Night Another Momin S.Imran .Ali.Zaidi s/o S.Kazim. Ali.Zaidi ,55 was Martyred , by the Assasins Squad of SSP , the LeJ Terrorist Group, in the Limits of North Nazimabad .

According to the details , the Imran Zaidi , who was the Vice Principal of Jinnah Polytechnic College , left his college for home in the evening , in his Suzuki Mehran Car No. T 8473 , and while he Just reached near the Matric Borad Office , two Assassins of Lashkar e Jhagvi , riding a motorcycle , and both wearing Helmets fired several shots , from their 9mm Pistols , But the Brave Imran Zaidi , Kept on Driving , Until he lost consciousness , and rammed his car into a Pole . The Terrorist sped away on their Bike Unhindered, and the Police reached the spot, after they have already left.

He was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital .while as he was fatally injured , and as per the Officials at the hospital said the victim was shot from close range, and have sustained four bullet wounds mostly in the upper torso. The official in the medico-legal section, further stated that one of the bullets pierced the victim’s forehead.SHO Sajid Javed admitted  that it looks be  a part of the Shia Target Killing , on sectarian basis .

SP North Nazimabad said it was apparently a target killing incident.

As the news of his death spread in the city, tension gripped Rizvia Society, Old Golimar, Abbas Town, Ancholi, Jaffar Tayyar, Malir and Rafa-e-Aam Society.

Later his body was shifted to the Imambargah Shah e Karbala , Rizvia Society , where his funeral Prayers was offered on Wednesday , after the Zuhrain Prayers in the presence of Hundreds of Mourners , well wishers and Community member , who have come to pay him their last respects , after which his body was taken for Burial to the Wadi e Hussain  Graveyard , Super Highway , Karachi, where he was buried.

The killing attracted strong reaction from religious circles and the teacher fraternity. Condemning the incident, they said that the provincial government and the city administration had failed to provide security to the life and property of the citizens.

Imran Zaidi has been associated with the JPI for over 25 years, and took charge as vice principal in 1997. He lived in North Karachi and leaves behind two children.

Ansar Rizvi, the head of the civil engineering department at the college, told Our Corespondent that Zaidi did not have any personal enmities and had not received any death threats. He said that Zaidi used to teach at different private universities and had received a gold medal from the Dadabhoy Institute of Higher Education. “We left work within five minutes of each other,” he said. “I heard about the incident a few minutes later.”

Jafferia Alliance Pakistan leader Allama Abbas Kumaili said that the government and the police had failed to put a stop to sectarian violence and the numbers were escalating fast. He added that in this year alone, around 22 Shia men, including lawyers, were gunned down.

“In district central alone, some 22 members of our community have been gunned down on sectarian grounds within the last three months or so,” said Allama Ali Anwar of the Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen (MWM), which had organised a sit-in outside parliament in Islamabad last week to register its protest against the ongoing wave of violence against the Shia community.

He said the authorities concerned had assured the protesters of concrete measures to check the trend that had affected many parts of the country, the situation was aggravating with each passing day.

“We believe that the government is not serious in tackling the situation as it has not even removed the police officers concerned in Karachi’s central district despite so many such incidents having taken place within their remit. The people of Karachi have been left at the mercy of armed groups, who strike their targets with impunity.”

The Shia Ulema Council also condemned the murder of Imran Zaidi, saying that they would soon chalk out a strategy by taking all the religious and political parties into confidence in order to press the government to take the terrorists to task.

Condemning the murder of Imran Zaidi, Sunni Tehrik chief Sarwat Ejaz Qadri said that the government had miserably failed to stop target killings in Karachi

The teacher fraternity also condemned the killing and described it as a direct threat to the people associated with the noble profession.

Meanwhile, the Anjuman-i-Islamia Trust, which manages the affairs of the Jinnah Polytechnic College, has announced suspension of all activities at the institution till Thursday to mourn the death.

“We condemn the killing,” said a college spokesman, adding that Mr Zaidi had been associated with the college for many years and commanded great respect among his colleagues and students. He urged the government to investigate the murder and punish the culprits at the earliest
