JNN 26 March 2012 KARACHI : An Undertrial Shia Prisoner Basharat Hussain , was stabbed to death in  barracks of the Karachi central prison in the early hours of Monday, jail authorities said.

They said that UTP Basharat Hussain, who was a deputy director of the Malir Development Authority and faced graft charges, was allegedly killed by a fellow inmate late on Sunday night in the Rahim ward following a scuffle.

Basharat  who was under trial and was booked on Fraudulent charges of  Corruption By Police  and was in the jail for last few months. He was shifted to the Rahim Ward , a couple of days earlier  , and the attacker Mohd  Ahmed who was also shifted to  the same ward  , and was completing his sentence , as he was a Hardened Criminal and was booked on charges of Murder, robbery and encounter with police cases,  Officials said Basharat had altercation with prisoner, Muhammad Ahmed, who later attacked him with a dagger, killing him on the spot.

It should be noted here that even the secured places like prison are not secure, and where no personal Belongings are allowed , even there Prisoners can posses lethal Weapons like Dagger or Sharp edged articles and can Operate ,their Gangs from inside , as they have even excess to Mobile Phones and other things , which is not only inefficiency of the Police , but shows the Alarming level of Corruption even in the most secured Places , under the Nose of the LEA’s .

Basharat Hussain was the Deputy Director of Malir Development Authority and was jailed over fraud charges in 2011. His case is currently in court for proceedings.

While talking to media, Basharat’s brother Taqi Hussain alleged that his brother was tortured to death. He said the jail administration told him that the killer was epileptic and he committed the crime while going through the same condition.

While the jail authorities claimed to have taken departmental action against three officials for their alleged negligence, the victim’s brother, Taqi Hussain, rejected the official version and alleged that his brother was “tortured and killed by jail authorities”.

The jail authorities called Mr Hussain after the incident. They shifted the body to the Civil Hospital Karachi for a post-mortem examination, which was carried out in the presence of a magistrate by Police Surgeon Dr Hamid Padhiar, forensic expert Dr Farhat Mirza and senior medico-legal officer Dr Qarar Abbasi. The report of the post-mortem examination was reserved.

Jail Superintendent Khalid Sheikh told Dawn that UTP Hussain was killed by another UTP Mohammad Ahmed, who according to Mr Sheikh was mentally challenged and often suffered from hysteria.

He said that the suspect had been shifted to an isolation cell.

The jail authorities said that the suspect Ahmed  was facing trial in murder, robbery and encounter with police cases registered at the Ferozabad and Shah Latif police stations.

They said that the victim was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Establishment and had been in jail since Sept 2011. He was booked in two cases (FIR Nos 37/2011 and 38/2011) of fraud.

The P.S New Town police registered a case (FIR 130/2012) against the suspect on a complaint of the jail superintendent.

Meanwhile, the victim’s brother demanded an inquiry and alleged that the police first tortured Hussain and then he was stabbed to death.

An investigation has been launched into the events that led to the killing of Hussain – the second incident in a week’s time, in which a prisoner attacked another inmate. According to Jail Superintendent Khalid Sheikh, Hussain was stabbed to death by a mentally-retarded man, namely Mohammad Ahmed.

Protesting against the jail administration, the victim’s family alleged that Hussain was murdered after torture. Assistant Superintendent Zulfiqar Pirzada and two other policemen, namely Abbas and Irfan, have been placed under suspension by IG Prisons Ghulam Qadir Thebu. The murderer was confined to a cell, however

Autopsy on the body was conducted at the Civil Hospital Karachi and the report was reserved.

Police Surgeon Dr Hamid Padhiar, Forensic Officer Dr Farhat Mirza and senior Medico-Legal Officer Dr Qarar Abbasi were on the autopsy team.

Another Shia under trial prisoner Qalandar Bux Jagirani was also tortured in Sukkur jail and he was mysteriously found dead during treatment at civil hospital Karachi.

In Another Incident 2 Young Shia Men Namely , Ejaz Hussain s/o Ghulam Hussain , and Ali Asghar s/o Yousuf Ali were Targetted and attacked , while they were working in their shop near Sabzal Road , Quetta , when 2 Assilants of the Terrorist Squad of Sipah e Sahaba, came on a bike and attacked and Opened indiscriminate fire on them , due to which , Ejaz Hussain Embraced Martyrdom , while Ali Asghar got critically Injured

According to the details ,  Ejaz  & Ali Asghar who belonged to the Shia Hazara Community of Quetta , were Welders by Profession, and even at the time of Incident they were at their work and were busy in their Job , when 2 Terrorist of the Sipah e Sahaba Pakistan came on their Bike and Opened fire on both of them , due to which both were critically injured, Ejaz’s bullet wounds were fatal and he died on the spot ,while Ali Asghar was shifted to the BMC , where his wounds were taken care off , and now said to be in stable conditions and is in the recovery Process.

After the Medico Legal Formalities body of Shaheed Ejaz Hussain was shifted at local Wali-al-Asr Mosque of Quetta Hazara Town, for the funeral Process. Later on after the funeral Prayers , he was buried in the local Hazara Community graveyard in Quetta.

In the third Incident A Shi’a man, namely Khos Mohammed, embraced martyrdom when terrorist opened fire on him in the Napora Area of Gilgit , Baltistan.

His age was about 40 years, he work in MCG and resident of Naporh. And was retired from the Nadra office ,
Khush Mohammad s/o Mohammad Ali was intercepted and was targeted and fired , by the terrorist of Sipah e Sahaba Pakistan , due to which he was critically injured , and rushed to the district headquarters hospital where he succumbed to fatal wounds.
The body was handed over to the relatives after post-mortem.
Thousands of people attended his funeral Prayers and were Present at the time of his burial at the Local Grave Yard
