JNN Oct.31st.2011: The Peshawar-Parachinar road was reopened for traffic on Sunday. In this connection a ceremony was held in Chapri area, some 75 kilometres from here.
The ceremony was attended by members of a tribal jirga, representatives of Sunni and Shia communities and political administration.
Leaders of Turi and Bangash tribes including Yousuf Hussain Turi and Haji Saleem Khan speaking on the occasion welcomed the implementation of `Murree Accord` under which the road was reopened.
They said that the closure of road had made lives of the people miserable for the last five years and remained disconnected with rest of the country.
They warned the saboteurs that if they dared to again disrupt peace in Kurram Agency, both the communities would jointly resist them.
Addressing the ceremony, Commissioner Kohat Division Sahibzada Mohammad Anees lauded the efforts of tribal jirga and elders which helped a lot in restoration of peace.
“Now the situation has changed in Kurram Agency and no one will be allowed to disturb peace,” he said.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the road was formally opened for traffic. A convoy of vehicles carrying passengers and goods later reached Parachinar at 3pm.
