
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast rejected Tuesday the U.S. accusations that the Islamic Republic had plotted to assassin the Saudi ambassador to Washington, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.

Two men have been charged in the U.S. for their alleged participation in a plot to murder the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to the United States with explosives, the U.S. Justice Department said on Tuesday. The two men also plotted to blow up the Saudi and Israeli Embassies in the U.S. capital Washington.
Mehmanparast said that the U.S. accusations are “incorrect” and “prefabricated scenario,” said the report.
Such kinds of allegations are “ridiculous shows” aimed at creating discord among the regional countries, the Iranian spokesman was quoted as saying.
The relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran are based on bilateral respects, the spokesman said, adding that such claims will not affect the public opinion.
U.S. authorities said Tuesday that two men have been charged in the country for alleged participation in a plot to murder the Saudi ambassador to the United States.
Manssor Arbabsayar and Gholam Shakuri were charged with sponsoring and promoting terrorist activities abroad, the U.S. Justice Department said in a statement.
Arbabsayar, a 56-year-old U.S. citizen holding both Iranian and U.S. passports, was arrested on Sept. 29, 2011 at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. He faces a maximum potential sentence of life in prison if convicted. Shakuri remains at large.
