JNN 12 May 2011 Manama : A Bahraini group has said it might retaliate against the Bahraini government, which has been waging a deadly crackdown against peaceful protesters for months.
The group said on Thursday that it could launch an armed struggle against the night raids carried out by the government forces, our correspondent reported.
Saudi-backed Bahraini forces have arrested over a dozen people during overnight raids, keeping up the regime-sanctioned crackdown on anti-government protests.
Over a dozen people were arrested in Wednesday night raids and again on Thursday, the forces detained seven people, including four students in Hamad Town in the north, the correspondent reported.
The Karzakan village in the west also saw several people abducted from their homes.
The Saudi-backed forces also besieged a village in central Bahrain before attacking a number of houses and putting three people under arrest.
In a popular revolution, thousands of anti-government protesters have been staging demonstrations on Bahrain’s streets since mid-February, calling for an end to the Al Khalifa dynasty.
In March, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates deployed troops to the Persian Gulf sheikhdom to help crush the countrywide protests.
Scores of protesters have been killed — some under torture — and many others arrested and sent to unknown locations ever since the start of the crackdown with the foreign troops contributing to the climbing violence.
Regime forces have also raided & razed dozens of schools, mosques, sacred sites and even graves in persisting efforts to suppress the opposition.
The Bahraini troops regularly target people that have participated in anti-regime protests.
