Iran to hold a Joint Concert of the Western and Irani Music

JNN 14 April 2011 : Iranian and western musicians are scheduled to hold a joint concert in the Iranian capital to perform a selection of pieces composed by Iranian maestro Ali Radman.

Italian harpist Valentina Meinero and Russian pianist Sergey Beskov will join Iran’s Chang Ensemble to present a combination of Persian and Western music this summer, ISNA reported.

“Meinero visited Iran in February 2011, when she performed some of my compositions, and her concert was warmly welcomed,” Radman said.

“We, therefore planned to hold more concerts with other musicians as well,” he added.

Radman also announced that the joint concert would be held in several Iranian cities other than Tehran and that there were plans for performance in other countries as well.

All pieces have been composed in different genres and arranged for orchestra, which will be performed on string and percussion instruments accompanying the piano.

The orchestra will include both traditional and modern instruments such as Tar, Dotar, piano, harp and bass Santour.

Radman, who also heads the Music department of Tehran’s Azad University, said that he was planning to hold a workshop to review contemporary music in the coming weeks.

The 38-year-old musician has been part of more than 30 performances both as a pianist and as a conductor.
