China investment in Iran irks US senators

JNN 20.09.10 Two senior senators have urged the US administration to punish Chinese and Turkish firms for providing Iran with refined petroleum products.

In a letter to Secretary of State Hilary Clinton on Tuesday, Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer and Republican Senator Jon Kyl said that the Chinese National Petroleum Co. (CNPC) along with two other Chinese companies, Sinopec and Zhuhai Zhenrong, have violated a new US law aimed at discouraging foreign investment in Iran.

“The administration should penalize CNPC, and other Chinese entities, for helping Iran evade international pressure and undermine the cooperation we’ve obtained from allies like Japan and South Korea,” the letter said.

The letter is aimed at prodding the administration to generally enforce the US law. It, however, singles out the Chinese company for its agreement last year to invest in Iran’s South Azadegan oil field.

The American senators also cite the Turkish energy company Turpas.

This comes as China has repeatedly said that it opposes unilateral sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program.

US President Barack Obama signed the Iran Sanctions Act into law in July, which focuses on the country’s imports of gasoline and other refined energy products and seeks to penalize foreign companies that help Iran’s energy sector.

This is while according to Ali Asghar Arshi, manager of international affairs at the National Iranian Oil Company, the country has started exporting gasoline.

“The first shipment of Iran’s gasoline has been exported,” he said on Tuesday.

Israel jails Nobel Peace Prize Laureate

JNN 29.09.10 Tel Aviv : Nobel peace laureate Mairead Maguire has been sent to an Israeli jail after she refused to go back upon being denied entry to Tel Aviv, Israeli officials say.

Maguire from Ireland was blocked from entering Israel and arrested at an airport in Tel Aviv on Tuesday because she had taken part in an attempt to break the crippling Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip.

Israeli authorities, however, could not manage to send her back to Britain.

The 66-year old activist is now fighting a legal battle over her right to enter Israel and would challenge the ruling at a full court hearing in Tel Aviv on Friday morning.

Maguire, who won the peace prize in 1976 for her work with the Peace People, traveled to Israel to lead a delegation of women on a week-long tour of Israel and the Palestinian territories to highlight the work of women peace activists.

Maguire was one of the 19 activists onboard the Irish-owned ship, the Rachel Corrie, trying to deliver humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza in June, a week after Israeli forces attacked a Turkish-flagged aid flotilla, killing nine civilian activists.

Maguire’s arrest comes as Israeli navy intercepts the Irene, another aid ship bounding for Gaza. The latest boat that tried to break Israel’s deadly blockade of Gaza carried seven Jewish activists and two journalists.

The passengers of the Irene have refuted Israel’s claims of non-violent takeover, saying they were treated harshly when Israeli troops seized their vessel.

Shia Muslims in the Persian Gulf; Worrying times

JNN 26.09.10 : FOR minorities, success is best in small doses. Too much may stir bigotry and charges of dual loyalty, or even make some within the minority dangerously impatient for change. Shias on the Arab side of the Persian Gulf have long lived with such ironies. Largely ignored through centuries under Sunni rulers, they now feel increasingly exposed.

First came the Islamic revolution of 1979 in neighbouring Iran, whose ripples frightened those rulers and emboldened their Shia subjects, leading to ugly clashes that subsided only in the 1990s. The more recent rise of Shia influence in Iraq and the success of Hizbullah, the Shia party-cum-militia in Lebanon, have caused similar waves, made stronger by Iran’s bid to become the dominant regional power.

Conditions for Shias vary among the Gulf monarchies but had until recently been broadly improving. In relaxed and relatively liberal Kuwait, where Shias account for a third of the ultra-rich citizenry, they have long been prominent in business and in government. Some hold high office in Bahrain, too, but proportionately far fewer than their two-thirds share of the island kingdom’s population.

Saudi Arabia has the largest number of Shias at 2m-odd, but they are thinly diluted in a population ten times bigger and are subject to more systematic discrimination. No Shia has become a cabinet minister or general—or even a headmistress in a state school, reflecting the Saudis’ severe Wahhabism, in effect the kingdom’s official doctrine. Still, in recent years the Saudi government has loosened some strictures on Shia worship and forced extremist Sunni clerics to lessen their anti-Shia vitriol.

Those gains look fragile amid a mood of rising sectarian tension across the region. In Bahrain, months of agitation by Shias campaigning for greater rights have led to growing government fears of worse to come in the event of trouble with Iran. Pressure from Saudi-aligned Sunni radicals has led to a full-scale crackdown on Shia politicking. Widespread arrests, the closure of mainstream Shia websites and newspapers, and the banning of some Shia preachers from mosque pulpits have combined to tilt much of Shia opinion into sullen hostility to the state.

Sectarian jitters

Many Bahrainis were shocked when a prominent Shia cleric, Ayatollah Hussein Mirza Najati, was ordered to be stripped of his citizenship. By contrast, Bahrain’s Shias often complain that the government has secretly given citizenship to thousands of foreign Sunnis in a bid to alter the sectarian balance. Moderate Shias still counsel patience with the ruling al-Khalifa family, whose promises of reform a decade ago had quelled unrest until now. But clouds may be gathering ahead of a parliamentary election due next month.

Kuwait’s authorities have grown jittery, too. Following sustained pressure from Islamist Sunni members of parliament, the emirate revoked the Kuwaiti passport of Yasser al-Habib, a Shia preacher exiled in London, whose sermons suggesting that one of Prophet Muhammad’s (s.a.w.w) wives had poisoned the prophet prompted widespread outrage. Alarmed by a spate of calls for Sunni protests, Kuwaiti police have banned all public meetings.

More quietly, Saudi authorities have for months been harassing local Shia campaigners, arresting dozens and holding many for weeks at a time. A ban on fatwas by independent Sunni clerics has muted public attacks on Shias, but Sunni chat-sites on the internet still describe them menacingly as a fifth column for Iran.

Shia-Center Attacked by Armed Terrorist in Brazil

JNN , 26.09.10 “Huj.  Sheikh Taleb Hossein al-Khazraji” chairman of the center and Imam of the Shia mosque was injured in the attack which was organized by an armed terrorist group.

Along with the threatening of Huj. Khazraji to kidnapping and death, the attackers destroyed the São Paulo Islamic Center’s equipments and insulted its members.

Although it’s been a few days since the occurrence of the attack, the Brazilian Police have not yet released any outcome information on the robbery and attack on the Shia Center.

Regarding reliable sources, there is a possibility of Zionist groups which are very active in Latin America being involved in bribing terrorism gangs for doing so to weaken the activities of the Shia Center.

The Shia Center was attended at this year’s San Paulo Books Fair and presented Shia books, such as Nahj-Al-Balaghah and Shahid Sadr’s Books in Portuguese. This Center also released an important statement condemning the Quran burning.

Since, Huj. Khazraji has personally translated and published many Shia books in Portuguese such as The Great Leader of Islamic Revolution’s Point of Views and has done other Islamic activities; this could be the main reason of the latest attack.

The main purpose of these acts is to put the pressure on him and his family to prevent the outspread of Ahlul-Bayt (a.s) principles in Latin America.

Iran performs 1st islet cell transplant

JNN 26.09.10  For the first time in the Middle East, Iranian researchers have succeeded in transplanting pancreatic islet cells to diabetics, making them free from insulin injection.

Latest figures have pointed out the high prevalence of diabetes in Iran. The topic, therefore, is considered as a national health priority.

“During the past 50 years, a great revolution has been noted in the treatment of diabetes. New types of drugs and insulin have reported promising results in controlling the crippling disease, neither of them, however, have succeeded in completely curing the sufferers,” said Baqer Larijani, the head of the researcher team and the dean of Tehran University of Medical Sciences.

He went on to say that Iranian scientists have recently performed many innovations, including transplanting stem cells, to treat diabetic patients. Transplanting the pancreatic cells responsible for producing insulin is their latest advance.

In the novel technique, pancreatic cells were extracted from a brain dead individual and thereafter were transplanted to a diabetic after they were purified through a complex technique.

“After doing years of research on animal samples, we have performed the operation for the first time in our country,” said Larijani, stressing that Iran is the first country in the region that has done so.

According to statistics, a limited number of such surgeries have been previously conducted in Japan. Korean scientists have also performed two such operations.

Larijani stressed that the technique is not effective in all the type 1 diabetic patients.

“The treatment is not only complicated but also pricey as patients need immunomedulatory medications for a long time after the transplantation. As a result, the treatment will not be performed on a regular basis for the time being,” said Larijani, adding that Iranian scientists hope they would develop an effective and less pricey method in the near future.

Archbishop backs gay bishops

JNN 26.09.10 The Archbishop of Canterbury says gay people could apply to become bishops as long as they remain celibate, the British media reported.

In an interview with the Times, Rowan Williams made the comments in his first explicit declaration on the subject since taking office in 2002.

William said he personally supports the consecration of gay bishops in the Church of England, noting however that he would never endorse gay clergy in relationships because of tradition and historical “standards”.

His comments risk deepening divisions within the church and the wider Anglican communion. Liberals will be angered by his explicit acknowledgement that celibacy must be compulsory for homosexual clergy but not for heterosexuals. He would also fuel conservative ire since his stance which puts him at odds with church teaching.

In the interview, Williams explained why he has stood with conservatives against homosexuality when it came to official church policy.

He said that he could not endorse gay relationships for clergy and bishops because “the cost to the church overall was too great to be borne at that point”.

Russian president arrives in China

JNN 26.09.10 Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has arrived in northeast China to discuss plans to boost oil and gas exports to his country’s Asian neighbor.

op Russian energy officials accompany the Russian premier on his three-day visit to China, which started on Sunday.

Medvedev began his stay by visiting Dalian, a former Russian city, to pay respect to Russian soldiers who died defending the port from Japanese invaders.

The Russian president emphasized the warm ties between the two countries, Russia and China, which he says will “do good” for future generations.

“Friendship with China is Russia’s strategic choice, it’s a choice that was sealed by blood years ago,” Medvedev told Russian and Chinese war veterans in Dalian, according to AFP.

He is slated to meet his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao in the capital Beijing on Monday. The launch of a major oil pipeline is expected to be at the heart of the talks.

The pipeline, scheduled to be completed next year, is designed to deliver over one million barrels of Russia’s oil a day to China.

On Tuesday, Medvedev will head to Shanghai and visit the Russian pavilion at the World Expo.

'US, Mossad played roles in 9/11 event'

JNN 26.09.10 Tehran : Following the Iranian president’s doubts on the 9/11 event, a top military adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution says the CIA and Mossad were involved in the attacks.

“The US and the Zionists developed the strategy of the September 11 attacks in an effort to counter the Islamic vigilance and to control energy resources in the Middle East,” IRNA quoted Brigadier General Yahya Rahim-Safavi as saying on Saturday.

He further added that al-Qaeda and its leader Osama bin Laden did not possess the essential intelligence capacity anywhere near the level of CIA, Pentagon and the FBI in order to conduct the surprise attacks against sensitive centers in the United States on September 11.

According to General Rahim-Safavi, heads of Israel’s Mossad and the US played roles in the event.

“The September 11 attacks in the US and the shameful act of Qur’an burning by the US and Zionist regime (Israel) were in line with Islamophobia efforts by enemies of Islam who have fears over the spread of Islam and the Islamic vigilance,” he further explained.

The Iranian commander also pointed out that the US and certain Western countries invaded Iraq and Afghanistan, a move that proved security is not sustainable in the world.

Moreover, General Rahim-Safavi pointed to the high potentials of Muslim countries and predicted that the Muslim world with its unique features and capabilities will turn into a premier and important power center of the world in the near future.

In his address to the UN General Assembly on Thursday, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the US took advantage of the ‘suspicious’ September 11 incidents to justify its destructive occupation of Afghanistan and Iraq that cost many thousands of innocent lives.

The Iranian chief executive went on to raise serious questions about the credibility of the US government’s account of the 9/11 attacks, suggesting that “a very powerful and complex terrorist group, able to successfully cross all layers of the American intelligence and security, carried out the attacks.”

Present Pakistani Govt : The Best example of Bad Governance

JNN 22.09.10 If any body want to see the best example of Bad Governance of a country, then he/she must visit Pakistan now , other wise you ll loose the chance to see the the  Best example of Bad Governance of any Country.

The Situation of Pakistan at present is worst than ever , there is no writ of government in any matter of the Country. The prices of all the essential and daily use commodities are sky rocketing , the terrorism is all time high , there is no security of life , even if you seal your self in the 4 folds of iron walls. Shortage of Electricity , High rate of Load shedding of Electric and Gas. People are committing suicide because of Unemployment and Hunger.

The Government is so corrupt , that if you want to have any Law Passed from the Assembly , of your personal Interest than You pay the price and you ll have it passed from the Legislative Assembly, on the given time frame from the Broker of the Government .

If you want to have the Price fixed , of any commodity , according to your will , you can have it passed . The example of this Rate Hike of essential items like CNG is evident to all , as the Government is revising the Prices upward , while the suppliers or the CNG Pump station owners are revising the Prices downwards, as they know if they dont revise it down , then they can’t  sell even a single Kg of it as the buying power of the common Man is badly affected .

The prices of all the essential Kitchen items have increased to a record level , and till yet no steps have been taken to lower the prices or make measures that the common man can get some relief in such circumstances.

And the worst of all is that even the judiciary is corrupt and biased, from Top to the core , As people are now of the view that instead of hiring a good lawyer for your case , it is better to have a good judge for there case , which even gives them the gaurantee of wining the case. Even the top slot is so biased and politically motivated , that they see each and every fault in one party of the state , while they dont see any thing bad or not even ready to hear any thing bad against the Other Political party , as they must be there friends of there bad times. They can take suo moto action on the missing Persons , but could not order an inquiry of the target killing of the Innocent Shia community members , and not this but  if the rangers even Kill the Protesting Youth , they dont feel it bad or think it is liable to be punished. As it is Dictatorial rule they want to implement , By acting and trying to become the Chief Executive of the State.

The Law & Order situation is so bad that the Mafia’s and vested foriegn intelligence agencies are fulfiling their long awaited dreams of destablizing Pakistan ,and are now on the verge of Disintegrating Pakistan, By suicide attacks and target Killing of the Loyal poplulation of Pakistan , especially the Shia community , which is paying the heaviest cost of their loyalty to Pakistan and being the stanch believers of Islam ,as the whole situation is being created by the enemies of Pakistan and Islam.

'Living standards deteriorating in the UK'

JNN 22.09.10 London : The UK has been tipped as one of the worst countries in Europe in terms of living standards such as fewer holidays, longer working lives and bad weather, according to a new report.

The index published by uSwitch.com shows that Britons who once enjoyed the highest net household income in Europe are now earning almost £8000 less than last year, the daily Herald Scotland said in a report.

According to the report, the average UK household earned £10,000 above the European average last year, but the income has now fallen to £2,314 which is fewer that the net income in Ireland, the Netherland, and Denmark.

The index evaluates quality of life based on 16 factors such as net income, VAT and the cost of essentials such as fuel, food and energy bills, as well as lifestyle factors, including hours of sunshine, holiday entitlement, working hours and life expectancy.

Factors which contributed to the UK being at the bottom of the index list include high living costs, below-average government spending on health and education, shorter holidays and late retirement.

Ann Robinson, director of consumer policy at uSwitch.com, said: “Last year, compared with our European neighbors we were miserable but rich, this year we’re miserable and poor.

“Whereas some countries work to live, UK consumers live to work.

“In fact we work harder, take fewer holidays and retire later than most of our European counterparts, but the high cost of living makes this a necessity rather than a choice.”

France, Spain, Germany, Holland, Sweden and Italy all enjoy a longer life expectancy than the UK, with France rated as having the best quality of life in Europe for the second year in a row.

According to the index, Britons also pay the highest prices for food and diesel yet receive a below-average spend on health and education. People in the UK can also expect to work four years longer and die two years younger than their French counterparts.

Kuwait to withdraw Shia cleric's citizenship

JNN 21.09.10 – Kuwait will withdraw the citizenship of a Shia cleric whose so called derogatory remarks about a wife of the Prophet Mohammad fanned sectarian tension in the world’s No. 4 oil-exporting state, the state news agency said.

KUNA said the cabinet on Monday approved a draft decree to strip Yasser al-Habib of Kuwaiti citizenship and to prosecute him for his “shameful crimes”, a move it said was in the Gulf country’s higher interests.

Habib’s criticism of Aisha, whom Sunni Muslims revere and call the “mother of believers”, drew protests from Sunni clerics and lawmakers and threatened to cause civil strife. About one third of Kuwaitis belong to the Shiite sect of Islam.

Many Kuwaiti Shiite clerics and legislators denounced Habib’s comments, which he made in London, and said they were a threat to national unity. KUNA said the Kuwaiti government would ask Interpol to arrest Habib.

Writings about differences between the two sects and criticism of personalities belonging to them riled Kuwaitis in the past, raised fears of a developing security threat.

Bahrain 'intensifying' Shia crackdown

Human rights activists have expressed concern about the intensifying crackdown on the Shia community in Bahrain by the Sunni-dominated government.

The activists say the crackdown on the freedom of expression is fast escalating and broadening in scope.

“There is a continuous war against all Shias who are critics of the government,” President of Bahrain Center for Human Rights Nabeel Rajab told Press TV on Tuesday.

Many of the opposition detainees were tortured and sexually assaulted, among them religious figures, he added.

The rights activists said that more websites were being blocked while an increasing number of publications were being banned on an almost daily basis.

Earlier on Sunday, the Manama government revoked the citizenship of leading Shia cleric Ayatollah Sheikh Hussein al-Najati, who represents top Iraqi cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani in Bahrain, and the citizenship of his family.

An outspoken critic of the government, Sheikh Abdul Jaleel al-Miqdad, has also been prohibited from leading Friday prayers.

The Bahraini government has arrested more than 250 Shias since August, accusing 23 of them of plotting a coup and provoking “violence, rioting and terrorism.”

The population of Bahrain is predominantly Shia. However, the majority group has long complained of being discriminated against by the Bahraini government in obtaining jobs and receiving services.

The Shia opposition refuses to recognize the 2002 constitution and has called for a boycott of the October 23 parliamentary elections.

Imam Khamenei: US and Zionism, Not Christianity, Responsible for Anti-Islamism

Full text of the message of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution to the Muslim world in the wake of the unequivocally detestable act of desecrating the Holy Quran and plans to burn copies of it in the USA.

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
“Surely We have revealed the Reminder, and We will most surely be its guardian.” [Quran 15:9]

Dear Iranian people, great Islamic nation.
The insane and appalling insult to the holy Quran in the United States of America, under police protection, constitutes a serious tragic occurrence that cannot be regarded as a foolish act by some insignificant hirelings. It is an act plotted by institutions that have been relentlessly working for years to spread hatred of Islam and to fight it, as well as the Quran, through thousands of practical means including the media. It is another episode in the despicable series that started with the treason and blasphemy of Salman Rushdie, spread to the malevolent Danish caricaturist and other anti-Islam Hollywood productions, and has now reached this repugnant show. Still, what lies behind such evil acts and who stands in the shadows of this background?

Examining this evil course and its association with the criminal deeds in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon, and Pakistan, leaves no doubt whatsoever that those behind plotting and leading are the leaders of hegemonic regimes and Zionist dark rooms which significantly influence the US and its security and military institutions, as well as England among other European nations. Investigation and fact finding panels have been pointing at the responsibility of those same people in the 9/11 attacks on the twin towers. This gave then the criminal US President George W. Bush a justification to attack Afghanistan and Iraq in the framework of a crusade. This same person has reportedly stated that the crusade was complemented when the Church joined in.

On the one hand, the purpose of this recent heinous act is to take the controversy with Islam and Muslims to the Christian public level, give it a religious characteristic through the joining of the Church and the pastors, and then gain the support of by the elements of extremism to deal a blow to Muslim peoples. On the other hand, this act is aimed at infuriating Muslims to divert their attention from the occurring developments in the Islamic world and the Middle East.

This spiteful step is not the beginning of an inclination; it is a stage in the extending trend of anti-Islamism led by Zionism and the American regime. We can see today how the leaders of global arrogance and the heads of disbelief stand united in front of Islam. Islam is the religion of freedom and human spirit and the Quran is the book of mercy, wisdom, and justice. The free people of this world and the followers of monotheistic faiths of Prophet Abraham should stand by Muslims in the face of the wretched anti-Islam policies. The leaders of the American regime cannot acquit themselves of indulging this hideous phenomenon by mere absurd and deceitful rhetoric. We have witnessed through many years how the sanctities and the rights of millions of downtrodden Muslims have been desecrated in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Lebanon, and Palestine.

Why are these tragedies taking place? Hundreds of thousands of people have been killed, tens of thousands of women and men are living in captivity and anguish, thousands of children and women are being abducted, millions face disablement and displacement, for what? Despite all this injustice, we see international western media outlets project Muslims a violent people and the holy Quran and Islam in general as a threat to humanity. How can we believe that all these large-scale conspiracies can materialize if it were not for the support and interference of Zionist circles in the USA?
Muslim brothers and sisters in Iran and the world.
It is necessary for me to remind everybody of the following:

First: This, and previous similar incidents clearly show that the target of the global arrogant regime is the dear Islam and the holy Quran. The insolents blatantly declare their enmity to the Islamic Republic because Iran stands in the face of arrogance. However, their claim of not being anti-Islam is a big lie and a satanic stratagem. They are hostile to every aspect of Islam and everything that it stands for.

Second: This series of spiteful trends against Islam and Muslims stem from the fact that star of Islam has been increasingly glowing for decades. Not only has this religions reached and embedded hearts across the Muslim world, but in the West as well. It stems from the fact that the Islamic nation has become more conscious and the Muslim people have been determined to break the shackles of imperialism and the aggression of arrogant regimes. The insult to the holy Quran and Prophet Mohammed peace be upon him and his household, despite its bitterness, bears the great tidings that the light of the Quran shall glow brighter day after day.

Third: We should all know that the recent incident on the one hand and the Church and Christianity are incoherent. Christians and clerics should not be held responsible of the spectacles of some foolish pastors. As Muslims, we will never take on something similar with regards to the sanctities of other religions. Struggle between Muslims and Christians is what the enemies and the plotters of this insane play are after, however, the holy Quran guides us to the opposite direction.
Fourth: Muslims hold the US government and US politicians accountable. If they were sincere in their claims that they were not involved, then they ought to adequately punish the real elements and players who hurt the feelings of 1.5 billion Muslims.

Mullah Omar is in Pakistan and everyone knows it: France

JNN 14.09.10 PARIS: Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Omar is based in Pakistan and everyone knows it, French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said Tuesday, calling on Islamabad to do more to help end the conflict.

“It’s not a secret for anyone, everyone knows that Mullah Omar is in Quetta, if he’s not now in Karachi,” Kouchner told French lawmakers, referring to two major Pakistani cities known to harbour militant cells.

Mullah Omar was the leader of the Taliban regime that was overthrown in Afghanistan by US-led forces in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attacks and is now thought to be based in Quetta.

“Taliban leaders have been given shelter in Pakistan. I’m not revealing anything,” Kouchner said, telling parliament’s foreign relations committee why Afghanistan has called on Pakistan to help negotiate a peace deal.

Bahrain Govt abusing Power on Predominantly Shia Population

JNN 14.09.10 Amid increasing pressure on Shias in Bahrain, hundreds of people have staged a rally in Manama to protest Saudi Arabia’s support for the latest crackdown on the majority group.

In a pro-democracy movement, protesters reportedly blocked a road connecting Bahrain to Saudi Arabia, stopping hundreds of cars by setting tires on fire on the King Fahd Bridge.

Security officials said that at least four vehicles were damaged in an explosion in the capital city of Manama.

A Bahraini pro-democracy leader based in London, Saeed Shehabi, told Press TV that nearly all useful internet websites in the country had been shut down by the government in an attempt to prevent the spread of news about the situation in the Arab state.

The crackdown on protesters will not prevent further mass demonstrations from those seeking democracy in Bahrain, Shehabi said.

Bahrain’s Sunni-dominated government has arrested more than 250 Shias since August, accusing 23 of them of plotting a coup and inciting “violence, rioting and terrorism.”

Meanwhile, human rights groups have voiced concern about the situation, urging Bahrain to investigate allegations by some opposition activists that they were tortured while in detention.

Bahrain’s Shia Muslims say their rights are being restricted by Sunni rulers and they have been discriminated by ruling elites for years.

The 70 percent Shia population of Bahrain say that authorities in Manama are granting citizenship to thousands of Sunni foreigners to counterbalance the population in the Shia-majority state.

While prominent Shia clerics have been preaching religious harmony and promoting brotherhood, Shia activists have warned the government of sectarian strife should it continue with its discriminatory policies in the Persian Gulf State

US Adding insult to Pakistani injury

JNN 13.09.10 ,International Desk : Nine military officials from Pakistan were held for questioning at Dulles Airport,Washington D.C. on September 1. The officials were on route to the US Central Command in Tampa, Florida  for an important meeting. But things didn’t go according to plan. The officials were separated, their green passports disregarded, they weren’t allowed to make phone calls to their one-star general in Pakistan and their official letter of invitation which also stated the purpose of their trip…well, that wasn’t even glanced at or considered. Although the US has apologised for themistreatment meted to the officials, it is too late to undo the damage.

But that’s not the first time such an incident has occurred; security checks that are meant to be random but target Muslims and long interrogation processes at airports across the US have become commonplace. September 11changed the political, and even the religious, landscape in the US as well as the world over. Nothing was the same anymore, people were categorised by their religion, ethnicity and the colour of their skin. Men with beards and women in hijab are held back at security counters, the contents of their bags rifled through, and questioned at length about their itinerary, their current job, family ties and so on before being allowed to board the flight.

In March 2010, lawmakers from Fata cut short their 15-dy trip to the US when they were asked to undergo a full body scan. These scanners have been introduced at various airports across the world as part of increased security measures. According to news reports and organisations lobbying against such scanners, these provide a detailed image of the passengers and are tantamount to “virtual strip-searches.”

There are stories that do the rounds at dinner table conversations in Pakistan. A friend of a friend who, despite becoming a naturalised citizen of the US just last year, was held at customs for interrogation for well over two hours; an uncle who’s actually a Canadian national, was held at the US-Canada border by the custom officials for a few hours; and a friend of your dad’s who had applied for a US visit visa over two years ago and is still awaiting security clearance from the embassy. Although these stories may sound far-fetched but unfortunately, these are real people who have had such experiences.

Traveling with a green passport has become tiresome. Visa applications that initially took a week or so, now take months to process. People submitting their visa documents often have the same worried look on their faces, glancing at each other furtively, wondering if they’ll be able to visit their loved ones abroad, whether they will be able to make it to their daughter’s graduation in time and whether the new grandparents will be allowed a two-week visit to see their grandchild. Painful, tedious and not to mention nerve-wrecking, are the words to describe this arduous process that every Pakistani must partake in each time he/she decides to travel.

None of the hijackers involved in 9/11 were Pakistanis and nor were they funded by Pakistanis, yet it is articles like these which are read by thousands who know nothing about Pakistan, except that the country is on the front line in the war against terror. A critique of the op-ed piece has been talked about in great length here. Every article on Pakistan published in the foreign media outlets, be it fashion, the sudden literary boom in the country or even the floods – Islamist militants and the Taliban are always present.

This isn’t to say that Pakistanis have been entirely innocent; the most recent instance being Faisal Shehzad, but to associate Pakistan and 9/11 is incorrect. At the same time, one needs to look at the bigger picture: the way Pakistan is intricately associated with terrorism and for harbouring al Qaeda associates, al Qaeda has roots in the anti-Soviet war in which the ‘mujahideen’ were substantially financed by the CIA and the ISI.

Now each and every Pakistani is paying the cost of being friends to US , as to fulfil there dream of being the only super power in the world and to break the biggest and the Most Powerful nation in the world with the help of Pakistani Intelligence agencies ,and fight there war with the help of the Mercenaries , recruited in the name of Islam , firstly as Mujahideen , and then later on the American Born but not owned by Americans,  Taliban  which are now only called American bastards .

The Story of Pakistan of its Past , Present and future will be a part of the world history , which will be an eye opener for whole of the world , as this is a lesson for every nation , that Never to rely or try to be friends of America, as they will first use you, and then with the same weapons will try to suffocate you till death . While now this has also been even learned by Pakistani Armed Forces that America is trying to suffocate this nation , so there are trying to make a way out which is very late, but still there is a stream of light at the end of the tunnel . As still Pakistan holds such a Position that can suffocate or even eliminate the Only super Power in the world. As it is itself on the verge of break away , and the time will prove that Russia broke up , but still a great Power Player in the world , but the time will prove that when US will break away it will be wiped away from the Map of the World Political Powers, and the American Public will be the greatest losers , far more than the Russian people who are Now No where after the collapse of the USSR.

The splinter groups of these Talibans known as Tehrik e Taliban Pakistan , Sipah e Sahaba Pakistan , Lashkar e Jhangvi , Jundullah , and others are now being directly financed by Saudia Arabia , and America to destabilize and dis Integrate Pakistan , to win over there nefarious designs but the Pakistani Armed forces are not the only top ranking forces in there Battle power on the war front , but they have proved to be the No.1 , fighting force against any type of terrorism and Gurella war fare , they have broken the records of winning over the areas which were never even taken over by the British forces or any other forces even of Alexander the Great.

Imam Khamenei: Aid Flow to Pakistan Not Enough, Palestine is Prime Issue of Muslim World

World Shia Leader “Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei” has described the flood disaster in Pakistan as the “most urgent” issue of the Muslim world. Imam Khamenei said here on Friday that Palestine issue is the number one issue of the world of Islam.

World Shia Leader, Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has described the flood disaster in Pakistan as the “most urgent” issue of the Muslim world.

Addressing crowds of worshippers at Tehran University after Eid al-Fitr prayers on Friday, Imam Khamenei expressed deep sorrow over the catastrophic floods in Pakistan and the lingering humanitarian crisis it has brought to the country.

Iran has so far sent more than 400 tons of humanitarian aid including tents, blankets, food and medicine to Pakistan, and has also announced its readiness to play an active role in the reconstruction of the country’s flood-ravaged regions.

Imam Khamenei said the measures taken so far to relieve the disaster-hit Pakistanis was far from enough and appealed to all Muslims across the globe to help their brothers in Pakistan.

“The Iranian nation and government, other Muslim nations and governments, and Islamic societies including the Organization of the Islamic Conference and Muslims communities in any corner of the world [must] rush to help the Pakistani nation and government and meet the various needs of the flood victims in Pakistan,” World Shia Leader said.

The international community has also pleaded for a boost in global relief efforts to help some 800,000 Pakistanis stranded in areas only accessible by air in the aftermath of the country’s worst-ever natural disaster.

The floods washed through one-fifth of Pakistan in August, leaving at least 1,760 people dead and affecting at least another 17 million.

Imam Khamenei further warned about efforts by some powers to take advantage of the political unrest and security gap in the violence-wracked country.

“Some are seeking to turn Pakistan into their military base,” the Leader cautioned, expressing hope that Islamabad would resolve the predicament by fulfilling its obligations.

World Shia Leader, Seyed Ali Khamenei, said here on Friday that Palestine issue is the number one issue of the world of Islam.

“Palestine is the number one issue of the world of Islam. The so-called peace conference aims to cover up Zionist regime’s crimes,” said Imam Khamenei in his first Eid-ul-Fitr (Fast Breaking Festival) congregational prayers sermon.

He said the US and the West have sit idle, witnessing suppression of the Palestinian nation and holding a session for peace. “What a kind of peace? Which peace? (Peace) among whom?”

Calling Palestinian nation a “strong nation” that stands pressures, the Imam Khamenei said pressures can not force the resistant nation withdraw.

The Paramount Leader said Palestinian nation have become more stronger and more powerful than the past 20 to 30 years.

“Palestinians can cut hands of the aggressor and put an end to the Zionist regime’s presence in the region,” added the Ayatollah.

Elsewhere in his address, Imam Khamenei thanked the nation for high turnout in the World Quds Day rallies. “Domineering powers want to marginalize the issue of Palestine but glorious World Quds Day ceremonies showed that Muslims are filled up with hope and enthusiasm.”

Imam Khamenei  said 31 years are passing since the late Imam Khomeini designated the last Friday of the fasting month of Ramadhan as the World Quds Day. “31 years are passing since the day the late Imam designated the day as the World Quds Day. Enemies expected that the Day would lose its importance with passage of time but to no avail.”

This year, the Day was observed in many countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, America and the Middle East and Iranian nation, which was the main pivot of the Islamic movement, commemorated the Day more gloriously than the past, showing that they would fulfill their duty in the best possible manner when time requires.

Rehman hints at action against LeT, TTP and SSP in Balochistan

Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik has vowed to take action wherever the writ of state is challenged, adding that the terrorists wanted to destabilize the country.
Talking to media in Quetta on Wednesday, Rehman said that the Frontier Constabulary has been given police powers for three months.
He, however, added that the action would be taken on the orders of the provincial government. “I am here only to assist the Balochistan government”. “As many as five outfits including Balochistan Republican Army, Balochistan Liberation Front and Balochistan Armed Defence have been banned for their alleged involvement in terrorist activities”, Malik maintained. “Their bank accounts have also been seized and they could not set up offices”, Rehman added. Rehman assured that the federal government would provide the Baloch government with whatever it wants. “We will do away with the sense of insecurity among the Baloch people by rooting out the religious organizations from the province”, Malik pledged. He said that action would be taken against Lashkar-e-Jahngvi, Taliban and Sipah-e-Sahaba present in the province. “I never hinted at operation in Balochistan on the lines of Swat and Malakand”, the minister said while replying to a question in this regard.

Imam Khamenei: Iran will circumvent sanctions

World Shia Leader has warned against international sanctions against Iran over its nuclear energy program, saying Iran will thwart sanctions.

“The Iranian authorities and nation will undoubtedly circumvent sanctions (against the country) and render them ineffective just as they did over the past three decades and will move ahead with progress and development,” said Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei in a meeting with Iranian industrialists and manufacturers on Tuesday.

The Leader stressed the importance of creating a “truly resistant economy” to counter sanctions and economic pressure by arrogant powers.

He reiterated that the enemies seek to frustrate the Iranian people by exerting economic pressure on the country with the intent of turning the nation against the government by blaming it for poor economic performance.

Imam Khamenei said their goal is to cut ties between the government and nation.

However, they have not known the Iranian nation and are mistaken in their calculations.

The Leader urged Iranian officials to collaborate closely to bring about growth and development in the country.

Under intense political pressure from the US, the United Nations Security Council imposed a fourth round of sanctions on Iran on June 9 over the country’s nuclear energy activities. The US and the European Union then brought additional unilateral sanctions on the Islamic Republic

In addition to the Security Council’s resolution, the United States and European Union imposed additional unilateral sanctions on the Islamic Republic in an effort to cripple Iran’s economy and bend the country’s resolve in continuing with its peaceful nuclear program.

Christian, Muslim and Jewish religious leaders condemn US 'anti-Muslim frenzy'

US religious leaders have condemned an “anti-Muslim frenzy” in the United States, including plans by a Florida church to burn a Koran on September 11, an act a top general said could endanger American troops abroad.

JNN News Agency, Christian, Muslim and Jewish religious leaders denounced the “misinformation and outright bigotry” against US Muslims resulting from plans to build a Muslim community centre and mosque not far from the site of the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York.

Tensions have risen with the approach of both the September 11 anniversary on Saturday and the Muslim eid al-Fitr festival that marks the close of the fasting month of Ramadan, which is expected to end around Friday.

Passions have been further inflamed by Terry Jones, the pastor of a 30-person church in Gainesville, Florida, who has announced plans to burn a Koran on Saturday, the ninth anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

Mr Jones says he wants to “expose Islam” as a “violent and oppressive religion”.

Religious leaders, including Washington Roman Catholic Archbishop emeritus Cardinal Theodore McCarrick and Dr Michael Kinnamon of the National Council of Churches, released a statement saying they were “alarmed by the anti-Muslim frenzy” and “appalled by such disrespect for a sacred text”.

“To attack any religion in the United States is to do violence to the religious freedom of all Americans,” said the religious leaders, including Rabbi David Saperstein, head of the Union for Reform Judaism, and Rabbi Julie Schonfeld of the Association of Conservative Rabbis.

“The threatened burning of copies of the Holy Qu’ran this Saturday is a particularly egregious offence that demands the strongest possible condemnation by all who value civility in public life and seek to honour the sacred memory of those who lost their lives on September 11,” they said.

The planned Koran-burning by the Dove World Outreach Centre has already prompted protests in Kabul.

Several hundred Afghans – mostly students from religious schools – gathered outside the Milad ul-Nabi mosque and chanted “Death to America” in anger over the plans.

General David Petraeus, the head of US and NATO forces in Afghanistan, said in a statement that the Koran burning could “endanger troops and it could endanger the overall effort” to stabilise the Afghan situation.

“It is precisely the kind of action the Taliban uses and could cause significant problems, not just here, but everywhere in the world we are engaged with the Islamic community,” General Petraeus said.

Pakistani Flood Relief Officer ‘Ignores Shia Village Population’

SIKANDRABAD: Esakhel tehsil resident Girdawar Muhammad Hashim Khan, who is in charge of relief goods has been accused of spreading sectarianism and is ignoring the Shia population of flood victims

Esakhel tehsil resident Girdawar Muhammad Hashim Khan, who is in charge of relief goods has been accused of spreading sectarianism and is ignoring the Shia population of flood victims.

Local residents from Ranjhe Wala including Ghulam Shabbir, Amir Mukhtar, Riaz, Malik Saadat and others gave a written statement to this effect on Monday.

They said that Girdawar belonged to a diehard Sunni sect and hated the Shia community.

“He has continuously overlooked the Shia community in relief operations and has not even distributed goods to two entire villages because he knew they had a majority Shia population,” Mukhtar said.

They said most of the people in Ranjhey Wala belonged to the Shia community and that the official had removed the names of the Shia community from all distribution lists for the flood affected people. “The Ranjhey Wala area has not been provided a single bottle of water,” said Malik Saadat. Locals in the area said they suffered severely during the floods and added that many have lost their houses and livestock.

Residents in Sikandrabad said that Hashim Khan was fanning the flames of sectarianism in the area and was using abusive language against the Shia community in a local mosque. The people appealed to the provincial finance minister, Sargodha commissioner and Mianwali district coordination officer (DCO) to register case against the official.

Attacks in Pakistan reaction to army's success: Qureshi

LISBON: The recent wave of attacks in Pakistan are a reaction to the success of the army’s anti-terror operations, foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said Monday during a visit to Portugal.

“It is a reaction to the successful operations we’ve had against the militants in Pakistan,” Qureshi said following a meeting in Lisbon with his Portuguese counterpart Luis Amado.

On Monday, at least 19 people were killed in a suicide attack against a police station in Pakistan, where the Taliban allies of Al-Qaeda have stepped up their campaign, which has claimed more than 3,700 lives in three years.

“They are retaliating and they are attacking innocent citizens to create panic and to break the resolve that exists in the country,” Pakistan’s top diplomat said.

Qureshi is on a tour of European capitals to call attention to the plight of victims of recent devastating floods in Pakistan that submerged an area the size of England and left eight million people dependent on aid for survival.

He said he wanted to thank European leaders for the aid provided so far and to discuss the “measures that need to be taken for early recovery and the reconstruction phase”.

“And we also want to ensure that the money being contributed is utilised in the most efficient and transparent manner,” he added.

After Portugal, Qureshi will visit Spain and Poland before meeting in Brussels with the European Union’s foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton.

Petraeus bashes plan to burn Qurans

WASHINGTON: Top US military commander in Afghanistan has denounced a Florida church’s plans to burn Qurans on September 11, saying it would put the lives of American troops overseas in danger.

General David Petraeus said that the move will be used by the Taliban to boost their image and will drum up anger against US troops.

“It could endanger troops and it could endanger the overall effort,” Petraeus told The Wall Street Journal.

“It is precisely the kind of action the Taliban uses and could cause significant problems,” Petraeus added.

The Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida, says it will burn copies of the holy Quran on church grounds to mark the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

There have been daily demonstrations against the church’s plan in Afghanistan since Friday.

The pastor of the church, Terry Jones, distributed T-shirts bearing anti-Islamic slogans last year. AGENCIES

Iran boosts nuclear work despite sanctions -IAEA

VIENNA: Iran’s total production of low-enriched uranium has risen by around 15 percent since May to reach 2.8 tonnes, a U.N. nuclear watchdog report said, showing Tehran is pushing ahead with disputed work despite tougher sanctions.

The confidential report, obtained by Reuters on Monday, also said the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) remained concerned about possible activity in the Islamic Republic to develop a nuclear payload for a missile.

Western powers are likely to see the report’s findings as backing up their suspicions that Tehran is seeking to build nuclear bombs and underlining the need for the country to enter serious negotiations to curb its nuclear programme. AGENCIES

World Shia Leader Urges Quick Int'l Aid for Pakistan

World Shia Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, has criticized internationalorganizations for failing to administer aid to flooded Pakistan, urging Muslims’ quick assistance to help recover the country.

(JNN) News Agency, “Unfortunately, international organizations have not carried out their duties well to render services to disaster-stricken people, which itself needs to be analyzed and scrutinized,” Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei said in a statement on Tuesday.

Imam Khamenei called on all Muslims across the world to join hands in helping flood-hit Pakistanis.

“We are obliged to fulfill our duties and rush to help our devastated brothers and sisters,” the Leader said.

More than 1,600 Pakistanis have lost their lives in the floods that have hit nearly one fifth of the country. The UN says more than 17 million Pakistanis have been affected, as five million people have been made homeless as a result of the unprecedented floods.

The situation caused by the floods is worsening as hunger, lack of hygiene and drinking water, and the threat of an epidemic have put lives of many Pakistanis at risk.

The flooding is considered the worst in the country’s history.
