“Militants blew up Rahim Gul Primary School on Saturday in the Garbal district of the Safi area of Mohmand Agency. The girls’ school building was completely destroyed because of the explosion. However, no one was hurt in the attack,” local administrative officials said.
Security forces conducted a search operation after the attack in pursuit of the perpetrators.
The incident was the third of its kind in the region so far this week. On Friday, two government-run schools were badly damaged as they were targeted by militants in the Navagai and Mandil districts of the Bajaur agency — a major militant stronghold in northwest Pakistan near the Afghan border.
Pro-Taliban militants, who are opposed to girls’ education, have blown up or burnt hundreds of state-run schools in northwest Pakistan in recent years
