MP Fadlallah Reveals Agreement Signed between Lebanon, US

The head of the Media and Telecommunications parliamentary committee MP Hasan Fadlallah announced on Wednesday that an agreement on security cooperation was signed between Lebanon and the United States at the time of Fouad Saniora’s cabinet, adding that MPs need more time to study and assess the mentioned agreement.

Speaking to reporters following the committee’s meeting, Fadlallah said that the committee continued studying the 2009 US request to the Internal Security Forces (ISF) Directorate General for information on Lebanon’s communications grid.

According to Fadlallah, the request was an attempt to violate Lebanon’s sovereignty. “We are keen on preserving the country’s security and are following up on the matter,” he said.  Some believe the US request is dangerous while other think it is regular, he added.
