Karbala – The Representative of the religious authority Ali Al Sistani demanded on Friday the political blocs and candidates for the parliamentary elections to stay away from “false promises” during the electoral campaign, noting that some blocs are depending on “immoral” ways in their electoral campaigns.
“The political blocs and candidates must stay away from lying in their electoral campaigns that began today,” Abdul-Mahdi Al-Karbalai said in the Friday Prayer yesterday, adding that “this method will push the citizens away from their political powers if these promises were not implemented.”
According to Shiite News Correspondent,The electoral campaigns for entities, blocs and parties participating in the parliamentary elections started today and started to “hang posters and pictures” in all areas since Friday-morning and announced the launch of entities and parties promotion.
“There are political forces that resort to immoral ways that are forbidden morally for the diminution of others,” Karbalai said.
“All candidates must present their programs in a reasonable way and they must be able to achieve the promises they are giving to the people in the case they succeeded,” he stressed.
Karbalai added that: “The first concern of the candidate is to reach to power, in order to provide better services to the Iraqi people as a whole and not for a certain party, and he must not aspire for financial gain for his party, sect or nationality.”
He also stressed on “the need to stay away from using money to lure the voters,” explaining that “this case is flawed and it’s immoral whether for the person paying or recieving such funds.”
