Arabs, Muslims unity now more imperative than ever, says Khorafi

Kuwaiti National Assembly (parliament) Speaker Jassem Al-Khorafi said on Monday that it is imperative for all Arab and Muslim nations to unite now more than ever.

“Without unity, the Muslims will never be able to face the urgent challenges posed by the incidents in Jerusalem,” Al-Khorafi told reporters here after inaugurating the Global Forum of Islamist Parliamentarians.

“There is not difference of views among the Muslim nations as per vital issues on top of which is the liberation of Palestine,” he noted. Al-Khorafi expressed hope that the forum, being hosted by Kuwait between Nov 2 and 4, would provide a platform for an open dialogue among Islamist parliamentarians and lead to practical solutions of inter-Palestinian disputes.

“The Palestinians must to double efforts to restore unity which is the only way to strengthen their stance in the face of the Israeli barbarism,” he urged.

He expressed regret over the current differences among the Palestinian factions and some Arab and Muslim nations. “I put it honestly; without unity among our brothers in the occupied Palestinian territories, we can never move forward to liberate Jerusalem,” he made clear.

Europe must bear responsibility over Balfour issue

On the 92nd anniversary of colonial Balfour declaration, Hamas expressed its supreme confidence.

Gaza-based government Hamas on the 92nd anniversary of the colonial Balfour declaration expressed its supreme confidence in achieving victory and restoring the Palestinian usurped rights and demanded European states in general and Britain in particular to bear the moral responsibility for the crime they had committed against Palestine.

Hamas said Monday that this anniversary brings back memories of the Palestinian Nakba (catastrophe) and raises constant questions about Europe’s right to give Palestine to Jews to atone for its crimes against them, and about the Jews’ right to usurp the Palestinian land and forget the crimes committed against them by Europe.

Hamas said that this anniversary makes it more determined to restore the usurped rights, liberate the occupied holy places and help the Palestinian refugees in diaspora to return to their homes they were forced to leave.

For his part, Dr. Ahmed Bahar, the first deputy speaker of the Palestinian legislative council (PLC), stated Monday that the adherence to the option of resistance, the restoration of the national unity and supporting the Palestinian people’s steadfastness in the face of the occupation are the best guarantees to protect the justice of the national cause.

Dr. Bahar underlined that apologizing to the Palestinian people and providing them with all forms of political and economic support would be the minimum acceptable atonement for Britain’s moral and political crime against them.

Hamas lawmaker Yasser Mansour, for his part, said on this anniversary that a new tragedy is added everyday to the memory of the Palestinian people who are still suffering from the bitterness and the injustice of the occupation

Mansour added that such fateful dates in the history of the Palestinian cause must be remembered to take the lessons and should be instilled in the minds of Palestinian students in order to create generations brought up on the love of their national cause.

France's ADPI signs deal for holy Karbala airport studies

BAGHDAD, Iraq: To accomplish studies for a future airport in the holy city of Karbala, France’s firm Aeroports de Paris International signed a 28-million-euro (41-million-dollar) contract with Iraqi government this week.

Aeroports de Paris International signed a 28-million-euro (41-million-dollar) contract with Iraq’s government on Monday to carry out studies for a future airport to serve the Shiite holy cities of Najaf and Karbala.

The French embassy said the country’s junior trade minister Anne-Marie Idrac, who attended the opening of the Baghdad International Fair, witnessed the signing by the French firm ADPI.

The new site, which was announced by Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki in July 2008, will be built in holy Karbala province in southern Iraq and be named Middle Euphrates airport.

Millions of Shiite pilgrims from around the world flock every year to Najaf, the home of Shiite Islam’s most revered shrine of Imam Ali (pbuh).

The new airport is expected to boost the number of pilgrims, who typically visit holy Najaf and holy Karbala, which is home to the shrines of Imam Hussein (pbuh) and Imam Abbas (a.s).

Iran Ex-speaker says US always has supported despotic governments

Senior Iranian lawmaker and ex-speaker of the Majlis (Parliament) Gholam-Ali Haddad Adel said the US has always backed despotic governments.

Haddad Adel made the remarks while addressing a huge crowd of people who had gathered in front of the former US embassy in Tehran after taking part in rallies to mark the anniversary of the take-over of the embassy site in 1979 as America’s “den of espionage”.

He said the US contrary to its claims in supporting freedom and human rights has always supported dictatorships in the world.

He stated that the US has no record of supporting popular governments because the only thing important for it worldwide has been to dominate other countries to guarantee the interests of the White House.
