Israel to UN: We'll Continue Spying in Southern Lebanon!

Israeli daily Haaretz revealed on Monday that Israel informed the United Nations that it will continue its spying activities in Southern Lebanon after the United Nations has asked the Zionist entity for clarifications on “listening devices” that were uncovered near the village of Hula in southern Lebanon last week. The request was made following an official Lebanese petition to the UN.

According to Haaretz, Israel neither denied nor confirmed that it had placed intelligence-gathering equipment in the area, but informed the UN that “collecting intelligence” in southern Lebanon, in reference to spying, will continue “as long as the government in Beirut is not in full control of its territory.”

Last Wednesday, a tripartite meeting was held at the UNIFIL base near the Rosh Hanikra border crossing between representatives of Israel, Lebanon and the UN regarding recent tensions in the area. Lebanon claimed, according to foreign press reports, that it had uncovered monitoring devices planted by Israel on its soil.

The UN peacekeeping force was represented by the force commander, Major General Claudio Graziano, while Lebanon was represented by the commander of the Lebanese Army’s liaison unit and Israel was represented by the head of the Strategic Branch in the Planning Department at the General Staff, Brigadier Yossi Hayman.

Haaretz quoted a western diplomat as saying that one of the main issues discussed during the meeting was the exposure of the listening devices. The UNIFIL commander and the Lebanese officer asked for details on the listening equipment. The UN officers said that the equipment appeared to have been put in place during the 2006 July War against Lebanon, but the Lebanese officer insisted that the equipment appeared to be more up-to-date. “It seems that something new was put in place recently,” the Lebanese representative argued.

The western diplomat said that Hayman did not deny that the equipment was Israeli listening devices, and did not respond directly to the questions asked by his interlocutors. However, he did stress that Israel will make use of its intelligence gathering capabilities so long as Hezbollah pose what he called a threat. “Israel will continue to use all means necessary to defend its citizens,” Hayman was quoted as claiming.

He said that the exposure of the listening devices should be evaluated “in the broadest sense” and in light of the situation in southern Lebanon. “In view of all this we do not consider this instance as an Israeli violation of Resolution 1701,” Hayman went on to claim.

Ayatollah Golpayegani: Wahabies’ crimes worse than Zionists’

According to IRNA correspondent at Qom Seminary, the source of jurisprudence made the comment at his high level jurisprudence course before beginning his lesson, adding, “This sect, with the endless and brutal massacres it has begun launching, has ashamed the Muslims and gained dignity for the Zionists.”

He stressed, “It makes no difference whether they call themselves Al-Qaeda, Taliban, or any other name, but they have gone so far that the Muslims in both Islamic lands, and in non-Islamic world do not dare to declare their Islamic identity. They have (unjustly) defamed Islam and the Muslims.”

Ayatollah Safi Golpayegani referred to the treacherous acts of that corrupt sect, such as destroying the sacred Islamic sites in Holy Mecca and Media, which equals destroying the evidence on Islamic history, reiterating, “Relying on their money and their schools they have spread insecurity everywhere and this is not restricted to Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan.”

This jurisprudence source analyzing the roots of observing so much enmity against the Iraqi nation, said, “Since they could not tolerate the existence of any Shi’a government in the Arab world, they began expressing their objections against the establishment of a Shi’a political system in Iraq, followed by physical confrontations and plotting sabotage there.”

Pointing out that in most societies the rule of the majority is observed, he said, “Although it is not mentioned in the Constitution of Iraq that the political system should be in the hands of the Shi’a Muslims, keeping in mind that the Shi’as comprise the majority of the population there, the majority of the ruling class, too, are Shi’a Muslims, and that is what the enemies of Shi’ism cannot tolerate.”

Ayatollah Safi Golpayegani condoled with the Imam of the Time, the 12th Imam, may Almighty Allah hasten his glorious reappearance, the bereaved families of the recent terrorist explosions’ victims, and the entire Muslims on the sad incidents, prayed to God for the victory of Islam and particularly the Shi’a Muslims, and for the misery and annihilation of those who plot for the annihilation of Islam and Shi’a school of thought.

Foreign Agents behind Iraq, Pakistan, Iran Attacks: Imam Khamenei

Supreme Leader deplores disrespect to Shia sites in Saudi Arabia

Hajj must manifest a firm Muslim resolve

World Shia Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei in a meeting with organizers of this year’s Hajj ceremony Monday noted that Islamic unity was a necessity for the Muslim world at present, adding that the Hajj ceremony must become a manifestation of firm resolve of the Islamic Ummah against any divisive move.

Ayatollah Khamenei described Hajj as a great opportunity and urged the Hajj pilgrims to grab their chance of presence in the holy mosques and shrines in the journey and add to their wealth of faith and spirituality.

Ayatollah Khamenei also urged the pilgrims to be careful not to spend the opportunity on cheap worldly affairs.

Imam Khamenei then noted that the opportunity was precious as it offers chance of relations with other Muslims.

Ayatollah Khamenei then urged the pilgrims to attend congregational prayers in the two large mosques of Saudi Arabia (Masjid al-Haram and Masjid an-Nabi) in a show of unity of Muslims, adding that the advice was also a recommendation of the late founder of Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini.

Ayatollah Khamenei then said that the pilgrims could carry out a large Islamic propagation through holding of Komeil prayers and Disavowal of Pagans ceremony, adding that Hajj is manifestation of monotheism as it rejects any guardianship from any entity other than Allah.

Ayatollah Khamenei underlined the significance of Islamic unity at the current time and said that the carnages which take place in Iraq, Pakistan and some parts of Iran are aimed at sowing discord among Shia and Sunni Muslims.

“Those who carry out these terrorist and bloody moves are agents of aliens directly or indirectly,” the World Shia Leader said.

The Imam Khamenei said the Hajj pilgrims could not remain indifferent towards what takes place in the world of Islam, especially in Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine and part of Pakistan.

Ayatollah Khamenei urged the pilgrims to avoid any divisive acts or efforts which aim to harm the hoisted flag of the world of Islam.

Referring to desecration of Holy Shia sites in Mecca and Medina, the Supreme Leader underlined that such immoral behaviors which have targeted unity of Muslims only serve the interests of the US and the intelligence services of aliens.

The World Shia Leader, Imam Khamenei, urged the Saudi government to meet its duties regarding such moves.

The Shia of Saada take over Two Important Yemeni Bases

In the third month of war, the Shia of Saada take over two important military bases in northern Yemen while the Yemeni army was forced to retreat.

Al-Houthi soldiers took over the bases Shawabah Barakan and Bayn al-Hiyaf in the Razukh district of Saada. Shawabah is located on the highest peak of the city al-Nazir where tens of thousands of Yemenis and thousands of people who have become homeless due to the war live. The Bayn al-Hiyaf base is located in the lowest part of the city which is considered a safe place in Saada.

The Al-Houthi movement announced that it took many weapons from these bases and that the mission could not have been successful without the cooperation of the citizens of Yemen.

Bahraini police detains and tortures Shia youths

Clashes between Bahraini police and Shia youths are continuing on a daily basis despite a ruling acquitting 19 youth activists of murder.

“There are clashes almost every night in the villages,” Nader Al-Salatna, Vice President of the Bahrain Youth Society for Human Rights, told The Media Line. “Youths start marching, asking for jobs with a living wage, or calling for detained activists to be freed, the government tries to stop it and this leads to clashes.”

The news comes after 19 young men accused of murdering a Pakistani policeman in the Shia village of Karzakan last year were acquitted of the crime by a Bahraini court less than two weeks ago.

The government accused the men of murdering the 24-year-old police officer, Majid Asghar Baksh, by throwing Molotov cocktails at unmarked police vehicles.

The 15-lawyer defense team argued the government’s case was based on confessions obtained using torture and a medical examiner determined the officer to have died as the result of a fall, not from a Molotov cocktail.

“Most of the youth here support more democratic rights,” said Al-Salatna. “After one and a half years of being tortured in jail they were freed without any charges.”

The court found the government to lack sufficient evidence and released all the detainees, but the trial led to a national political drama and to clashes between Bahraini police and primarily Shia youths throughout the country.

(3th Update) Death toll rises to 155, Baghdad to mourn 3 days + PIC

The death toll from Sunday’s twin bombs in Baghdad, one of Iraq’s bloodiest attacks in years, has risen to 155 with more than 500 wounded, police said on Monday.

Despite a drop in overall violence in the country, insurgents, militants and others still carry out bombings and shootings, which observers say may increase in the lead up to a national election in January.

Sunday’s bombings, near the Justice Ministry and the Baghdad provincial government building ripping through cars and people, was the bloodiest in Iraqi capital since mid-2007.

World leaders condemned the attacks and Iraqi officials pointed a finger at al Qaeda and remnants of former dictator Saddam Hussein’s government. Opposition politicians blamed the security forces.

Iraq is trying to rebuild its economy and society after decades of repression, war and economic ruin. Security has remained elusive since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003.

U.S. troops have begun pulling out in advance of a full withdrawal by the end of 2011, and ensuring security is now mainly the responsibility of Iraqi soldiers and police.

The fact that two government buildings were hit shows that the terrorists are still capable of launching major attacks, and many fear such attacks will only increase in the run-up to the parliamentary elections, which are scheduled to be held in January.

Many pundits say the terrorists’ double bombing was meant to paint the Iraqi leader as incapable of providing security to the beleaguered city and to undermine his political support.

Other analysts say the terrorists are trying to make Iraqis too afraid to vote in the parliamentary elections.

Suspected US airstrike kills 14 in Pakistan

A suspected US missile strike killed at least 14 people in Pakistan’s troubled north-western region bordering Afghanistan on Saturday, media reports said.

The attacked targeted a Taliban hideout in the Bajaur tribal district, where the Pakistani military claimed victory over the militants early this year after months of fighting.

Private Duniya News television channel said 14 people were killed in the assault. Three foreign militants were among the dead.

Pakistan officially criticizes US drone attacks inside its territory, arguing they violate the country’s sovereignty and spread anti-American sentiments.

In early August, a similar assault in South Waziristan, another tribal district on the Afghan border, killed Pakistan Taliban chief Baitullah Mehsud.

ran urges Pakistan to hand over Jundollah leader

Interior Minister Najjar arrived in neighbouring Pakistan on Friday for talks on efforts to combat the group after the Sunday attack in Iran.

Iran urged Pakistan on Friday to hand over the leader of the Jundollah group after a suicide bombing which killed 42 people, state television quoted a senior official as saying.

Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar arrived in neighbouring Pakistan on Friday for talks on efforts to combat the group after the Sunday attack in Iran.

“We have documents that show (Abdolmalik) Rigi travels readily to Pakistan … we are here to ask Pakistan to hand over Rigi to Iran,” Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar told state television in Pakistan.

Jundollah, or “Soldiers of God”, claimed responsibility for the attack on Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards in southeastern Sistan-Baluchestan province. It killed 15 Guards, including six senior commanders, and 27 others.

Iran claims Jundollah has bases in Pakistan.

“It (sheltering Rigi) is not in the interest of the two countries’ good neighbourly relations,” Najjar said.

Iran accuses the United States and Britain of backing Jundollah and has suggested it has links with Pakistani intelligence. Washington, London and Islamabad have all denied involvement.

Iranian state television said on Tuesday three people had been detained in connection with the bombing, but gave no details.

The citizens were arrested on accusations that they participated in the celebration of Imam Al-Mahdi Day of Remembrance which Shi’a celebrated last August .

The Saudi Intelligence Department called the two citizens and upon their presence before the department were immediately put in prison.

They were sentenced a period of one week based on orders from Al-Hasa governor ( Badr bin Muhammad bin Jalawi ).

It is worth to mention that on 5 August 2009 the Saudi security forces were sent to Shi’a areas and removed all sorts of celebration and festival decorations meant for Imam Al-Mahdi Day of Remembrance.

Security authorities had instructed custodians and supervisors in the village of Bani Maan to remove all sorts of fixtures and road decorations meant for Imam Al-Mahdi Day of Remembrance otherwise they will be imprisoned.

Mohammad al-Hattab and Ali Hussain al-Qurainy are in these conditions, deprived of their liberty in an arbitrary manner. Their current detention is contrary to both the Saudi laws and relevant international standards set forth in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Are You Ready For Hajj?

“Yallah Hajji!”One of the many popular phrases that our dear hajjis bring back as memories of their holy pilgrimage.

But there is much more than new Arabic words and some classic halal fast-food to keep as memories from this spiritual journey; although both of those are pluses!

Although I personally have not gone to Hajj before; I have family and friends who have. I have been also been blessed to have done Umrah and there are so many wonderful things about the experience.

In Islam it is encouraged to go as soon as possible, and also obligatory, if you have the means, and are of age. Many times we hear our young Muslim brothers and sisters saying they will go when they are married, or when they are older, and that they are not “ready” yet. It seems almost as if we have made a Hajj a task, like taking a standardized test. We have heard how hard it is, to plow through the crowds of people, how the heat (when the month is during the summer) is unbearable, and even how complicated and full of do’s and don’ts the pilgrimage is.

We need to take a minute and think back to why Allah (swt) has made this act obligatory on us. Why does He want us to, once in our life, go and take this trip, and make circles around the Holy Kaaba? And if I am 23 or so, why would I have to go on my own if I’m able, shouldn’t I go when I get married? Or when will I have a better job? Let’s think about all the beautiful acts of Hajj and ask why they are so important to experience as soon as possible, yes, even as a youth.

During Hajj, we wear the Ehraam, and are dressed in simple white cloth in order to resemble our death clothes. Ehraam allows us to be equal with the millionaire next to us, or the poor family in front of us. It represents true Islamic values of equality and simplicity. Many youth today are busy running around making money so they can buy brand names, drive expensive cars, and just be better than the next person. This experience is to take your mind to levels where it belongs. To think in terms of simplicity and equality, that each person is not judged, and will not be judged on the Day of Judgment, by their brand names, but by the level of their faith. Were they at the level that they took upon the commands of going on Hajj as soon as possible? Or were they too busy saving for materialistic things and waiting to do it on the tomorrow that is not guaranteed to even come?

Another act that one is required to complete on this spiritual journey is throwing the stones at the (Devil) “shaytaan.” Instead of us throwing stones at our parents, and our life trials; we need to see the real shayateen (Devils) that are holding us back from being the justice-loving, and forgiving people that our Creator has made us. We need to begin throwing stones at our desires, our jobs that take away time from our families and communities, our hate for our brothers and sisters, and the list goes on and on.

Many times we see youth who do embark on this spiritual journey, and come back with a fresh new mindset and goal as to how to live their life, dedicated to Islam and to becoming more pious. Many times we see youth who go and become so engrossed in the literal aspects of Hajj, that they tend to forget about the symbolism. The fact that it is the one time, where all Muslims are gathered, together, at their Creator’s home, meeting new people, discussing issues that pertain to them, and helping each other through personal struggles, is a great thing. Many youth are too involved in finding a way to touch Hajar-e-aswad, which is fine, and it might mean a big deal, but what about touching your fellow brother or sister’s heart. What about helping an old lady or man to do their Tawaafs? Which, in your mind, is more important under the banner of hajj? This is only food for thought, not a fact.

Youth, who love socializing, should take the opportunity, if able, to go on hajj as soon as possible. Aside from studying the process, and the Fiqh rules, there is no way to prepare for this pilgrimage. Do we think that those who died in the stampedes that took place a few years ago were prepared? Do you think they were not worried about their jobs, or money? Of course, but Hajj is a spiritual journey, for when one is feeling lost and confused, as they study and realize each action they perform in those few days, and if they truly and sincerely ponder on it, they will only be filled with awe.

Many youth have been blessed to go at a young age, and return feeling inspired, and required, to become better Muslims. Everyone is obligated to know more about their religion, so they may better their lives, and in return teach others about Islam. Many young girls who do not practice wearing the Hijaab, have returned and naturally felt the desire to wear the Hijaab. Many young people have gone, and poured their hearts out to Allah (swt) and returned to nothing but the answer to their prayers. Who would want to pass up the opportunity of having a clean slate?

For those youth who are unsure of why Allah (swt) has commanded us to this ritualistic act, go for yourself, experience it, and find out why. We cannot question and think and take no action to find our answers. For when you see the Holy Kaaba for the first time, it is an unbelievable and heavy feeling in your heart. And as you circle around this holy structure, this unexplainable feeling of confidence and love for your religion will flow into your heart.

May Allah (swt) bless each Muslim with the chance to perform the Hajj pilgrimage, this year, and every year!

Gratefulness: The Essence of Islam

One of the best gifts Allah swt has granted mankind is the ability to feel and express gratitude. Being grateful at the most basic level is very simple and very beneficial. It is simple because it requires no special knowledge, skill, equipment, or preparation – anyone can access the gift of thankfulness. Yet most of us fall short of the mark in expressing due thanks for what others do, and probably all of us owe far more thanks to Allah (swt) than we even understand. However, improvement is also simple: just make it a practice to notice blessings and kindnesses, to think about them, and to honor them.

One reason gratitude is beneficial is because it improves relationships, – whether interpersonal or with our Creator. When we can feel and express appreciation for God’s blessings or other’s kindnesses, affection grows. But the personal benefits are also great; a thankful heart is a content and awed heart. Even in times and circumstances of hardship, we always have much to appreciate. When we acknowledge this, our burdens are easier to bear.

Imam Sadiq (as) wrote in Lantern of the Path, “With every breath you take, a thanksgiving is incumbent upon you, indeed, a thousand thanks or more. The lowest level of gratitude is to see that the blessing comes from Allah irrespective of the cause for it, and without the heart being attached to that cause. It consists of being satisfied with what is given; it means not disobeying Him with regard to His blessing, or opposing Him in any of His commands and prohibitions because of His blessing.”

Our breathing comes without thought, and yet each breath is a blessing. The struggle for breath is an agony that we are usually spared thousands upon thousands of times without thanking for it. If the gift of breath is taken from us, we will die; breath is life. It is but one of countless examples of blessings from God we owe thanks for. At the very least, we should appreciate that it is a gift from God, be satisfied with the gift, and never use the gift of breath for anything opposing Allah swt. One could possibly say that if we truly wish to express gratitude for the gift of breath, we must never allow ourselves to purposely breathe in any haram substances and we must never use our breath to utter any lies, backbiting, or other haram speech. For even if we claim to feel gratitude, the proof of real thankfulness comes in our actions. If we are thankful for a gift, we will not be careless with it. If someone gave you a birthday present you really loved, you would use it with caution in order to protect it. Similarly, if we are truly grateful for the blessing of breath, we will use it with caution, too.

Imam Sadiq (as) continues:
“Be a grateful bondsman to Allah in every way, and you will find that Allah is a generous Lord in every way. If there were a way of worshipping Allah for His sincerest bondsman to follow more excellent than giving thanks at every instance, He would have ascribed to them the name of this worship above the rest of creation. Since there is no form of worship better than that, He has singled out this kind of worship from other kinds of worship, and has singled out those who practice this kind of worship, saying,

وَقَلِيلٌ مِّنْ عِبَادِيَ الشَّكُورُ

Very few of my servants are grateful. (34:13)”

Expressing thanks to God is a great form of worship, and at the minimum is part of our daily prayers. Allah swt has taught us that when we give thanks, blessings increase. Not only is this true about the blessings directly from God, but it applies for gratitude to the blessings of Allah swt that come from people as well. For example, a child who demonstrates true appreciation for Eid gifts or quality time spent with daddy inspires the giver to happily continue to give to that child, while a child who seems to take a gift for granted or does not seem to like or appreciate it may find the giver less generous in the future. God is not in need of our thanks and is not hurt in the least by our ingratitude, but gratitude enriches us immeasurably. “Allah is not in need of the obedience of His bondsmen, for He has the power to increase blessings forever. Therefore be a grateful bondsman to Allah, and in this manner you will see wonders.” (Ibid.)

Even feeling and expressing gratitude is itself a merciful blessing from God.
“Complete thankfulness is to sincerely repent your inability to convey the least amount of gratitude, and expressing this by means of your sincere glorification of Allah. This is because fitting thanks is itself a blessing bestowed upon the bondsman for which he must also give thanks; it is of greater merit and of a higher state than the original blessing which caused him to respond with thanks in the first place. Therefore, every time one gives thanks one is obliged to give yet greater thanks, and so on ad infinitum, and this while absorbed in His blessings and unable to achieve the ultimate state of gratitude. For how can the bondsman match with gratitude the blessings of Allah, and when will he match his own action with Allah’s while all along the bondsman is weak and has no power whatsoever, except from Allah?” (Ibid.)

The world would be a better place if we were more grateful to Allah swt and to others. Therefore, I would like to publicly thank God for His continued mercy toward me, and to thank my parents for their love. Those few words are not adequate at all, but should not be left unsaid

World Shia leader; How can US speak of human right when DO NOT give heed to human rights

Leader: * I believe that US leaders should be ashamed; Iran spearheads defence of human rights * The US position before elections was to question elections so as to undermine participation * June 12 polls showed trust of nation to the Islamic Revolution * I have been following up the US behavior in recent weeks * Those who have been working covertly will soon be exposed to the Iranian public * Some sides are managing the movements on the streets from behind curtains * Yielding to illegal demands is beginning of dictatorship *It is wrong to believe that the movement on the street will pressure the government

World Shia Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei in a landmark Friday prayers policy speech laid down clear markers on the current presidential elections developments in the Islamic Republic.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the exceptional and epic turnout in the June 12 elections was a great show of trust and hope on the part of nation, a political earthquake for enemies and a historical celebration for friends of Iran and the Revolution.

Ayatollah Khamenei said all the 40 million people who turned out for ballot have actually voted for Imam, the Revolution and its martyrs, adding that the four competing presidential candidates belong to the Islamic establishment and therefore they are going to have to pursue their electoral issues within the existing transparent laws and regulations.

Ayatollah Khamenei highly appreciated the magnificent turnout of people at the ballot boxes and called it a large show of responsibility and participation, adding that the epic solidarity of the people with the Islamic establishment and the exceptional 85 percent turnout in the elections was a blessing from God and a sign of attention from the Last Shii Imam, Hazrat Mahdi.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the enthusiastic presence of the youths in the tenth presidential elections proved that political responsibility was still alive in the young generation. He then offered his heartfelt gratitude to the nation for the large turnout.

The Leader then pointed to the existence of different opinions and tastes within society, adding however that behind all those different tastes, there was a collective responsibility for preservation of the country and the system.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the 40m vote was a national declaration of loyalty to Imam, the Revolution and the Martyrs, adding that by the large turnout, the Islamic System took a fresh breath and the ill wishers of the system was slapped with the true concept of religious democracy.

Ayatollah Khamenei warned that the enemies of Islam seek to instill doubt into elections and shake the national trust. “They seek to question the legitimacy of the system through erosion of participation. If they manage to gain the goal, the incurred loss is larger than any other losses,” Ayatollah Khamenei cautioned.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the intense electoral campaigns between the four candidates, including the TV debates, were something within the system though the Zionist-ruled media with shear lies tried to present them as fight between opponents and proponents of the system.

Ayatollah Khamenei then noted that difference of opinion was natural, adding however that he considered a certain platform more appropriate for the country though he never made his vote public because the elections belonged to all people and its results would be determined by people.

Ayatollah Khamenei described the presidential TV debates as a significant initiative, saying that the serious and transparent debates foiled the plot of the aliens who claimed the polls were a show.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the debates were positive in that the debating sides had to defend their own platforms in the face of a flood of criticism, adding that the people through the debates and other special TV programs could judge their vote and felt that the Islamic establishment considers them as insiders.

Ayatollah Khamenei then said that one of the factors behind a ten million rise in the regular size of turnouts in the elections was the debates which helped people engage in the election campaigns.

The World Shia Leader then called for the continuation of the TV debates at levels of country’s managers, adding however that there were also some negative issues in the debates which must be removed in future similar programs.

Regarding the negative issues, Ayatollah Khamenei said that the debates contributed to more political schism and rumors and was lagging in logical issues. “Unfortunately the debates were defamatory at some points so that they relegated to blackening of the services of the current administration or previous administrations and stirred the situation among the supporters of the candidates,” the World Shia Leader regretted.

Ayatollah Khamenei then pointed to some defamatory statements in the debates about Mr. Hashemi Rafsanjani and Mr. Nateq Nouri, adding that while no one points an accusatory finger at the two personalities, any other claims about the relatives of the two must not be made public before due legal proceedings are covered.

Ayatollah Khamenei then pointed to his fifty-year-old relationship with Mr. Hashemi and elaborated on his services to the Revolution and the System, adding that Mr. Hashemi has never collected any money out of the Revolution.

Ayatollah Khamenei however noted that he has some natural difference of opinion with Mr. Rafsanjani, adding that the differences also existed between Mr. Rafsanjani and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad since 2005, noting however that Mr. Ahmadinejad’s platform was closer to his.

Ayatollah Khamenei then considered Mr. Nateq Nouri as a personality who has always been in service of the Revolution.

Ayatollah Khamenei then reaffirmed the serious stance of the system against financial corruption, adding however that the Islamic System despite the claims of some Zionist bodies is among the healthiest establishments in the world.

Ayatollah Khamenei then turned to the June 12 elections and said the enemies try to cast doubt on the elections and turn an absolute victory into a national loss however the highest rate of turnout has already been registered for the Iranian nation and the reality would never change.

Ayatollah Khamenei then ruled out any vote rigging in the elections, saying that it is not in the nature of the Islamic System to betray the vote of people and that the electoral procedures of the Islamic System never allow any major fraud.

Ayatollah Khamenei added however that the Constitutional Guardian Council had been instructed to consider any evidence of fraud provided by the complaining candidates and recount those boxes which are deemed necessary in the presence of their delegates.

Ayatollah Khamenei said legal routes are sole way for the consideration of electoral complaints, adding that he would never accept any illegal precedence because if today the legal framework is breached, no other elections would be trustworthy in future.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the legal procedures for consideration of electoral complaints are fine and complete, adding that all electoral issues should be tackled through legal routes.

Ayatollah Khamenei then addressed politicians and party leaders, saying that the country was experiencing a sensitive juncture and that considering the situation of the world, everyone has a duty to keep vigilance and avoid any mistake.

Ayatollah Khamenei warned that any extremism would stir further extremism, adding if political elites violate the law, they are to blame for any ensuing violence or unrest.

“I recommend all my old friends and brothers to overcome their sentiments and view the hidden hands of enemies and hungry wolves which gradually shed their mask of diplomacy,” Imam Khamenei urged.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the ballot box is the point where all differences must be settled and that the street is not a point to determine the vote of people.

Ayatollah Khamenei also warned that street protests are an appropriate cover for terrorists, enquiring who may take responsibility if terrorists carry out acts of terror within such meetings.

Ayatollah Khamenei noted that political weighing in the streets actually challenges the very democracy and elections. He then urged all parties involved to end the wrong political method, adding that if they fail to end the street protests, the responsibility of consequences falls on the organizers and parties involved.

Ayatollah Khamenei also noted that street protest never work as a pressure tool on the System and would fail to to make it to give in to their demands as expediency “because caving in to illegal demands under pressure would usher in dictatorship.”

“These calculations and perceptions are wrong and the behind-the-scene commanders are to blame for any consequences. The people will know those commanders when due,” Imam Khamenei cautioned.

Ayatollah Khamenei then urged the parties involved to take the path of fraternity and understanding and appreciate the 40m vote celebration by not allowing the enemy to ruin the large celebration. He however warned that if some people want to go a way otherwise he will come back and speak to people, this time in a more straightforward manner.

Ayatollah Khamenei then raised a series of stances taken by the authorities of some European countries as well as the United States, saying that in the run-up to the elections, the western authorities and media tried to trigger a voter apathy nevertheless they were shocked by a 40m turnout which made them to realize that a new chapter has opened in the issues related to the Islamic Republic of Iran which must be inevitably accepted by them.

“They then tried to ride the wave of protests following the elections and gradually pushed aside covers from their true face. Some of them showed their enmity with the Islamic System and the British Government proved more wicked than others in this regard,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei then pointed to a statement by some US authorities that they were waiting for such days when people took to streets. “These remarks came out after they sent a message in which they expressed willingness for relations and respect for the Islamic Republic; which one could we believe?”

“Simultaneously foreign elements triggered a line of destruction, arson, pillage of public wealth and unrest; they have no link to people or supporters of candidates rather they are related to ill wishers of the Iranian nation and mercenaries of western and Zionist spy services,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the situation made the enemies to feel greedy so that they thought they could spark a velvet revolution in Iran as they did in some small countries with a few million dollars paid by a Zionist capitalist. “The main problem is that the ignorant enemies have yet to know the Iranian nation,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.

“The ugliest issue was the expression of sympathy by American authorities for human rights and their claim of tightening of situation against Iranian people. How those who committed such and such crimes in Afghanistan and Iraq and support the bully Zionist regime allow themselves to profess to cherish human rights?” Ayatollah Khamenei asked.

Ayatollah Khamenei in the same regard reminded the conduct of the Democrat administration of Clinton in the massacre of more than 80 people of the Davidian sect. “You burned more than 80 women, men and children alive. So how could you understand human rights?” he asked.

Ayatollah Khamenei then noted that the Islamic Republic has hoisted the flag of human rights and defense of the oppressed and that it has no need to take advice from the West in this regard. “Western authorities must take shame and abandon their current policies” towards Iran, he added.

Ayatollah Khamenei concluded the speech by making an address to the Last Shii Imam, Hazrat Mahdi, saying “we have done what needed and said what needed and will do. We would stay the course powerfully. You are the true owner of the Revolution and Country. Please, pray for us.”

Pakistan to help Iran root out Jundallah Terrorist Group

Hangu: 1 Momin Mazhar Ali embraced shahadat.

He was kidnapped 10 days ago.
Pakistan says it will help the Tehran government locate and arrest the masterminds behind a deadly terrorist attack that killed scores of people in southeastern Iran.

In remarks published on Wednesday, Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi announced that an Iranian delegation will soon arrive in Islamabad for talks on the matter.

“We will help them and support them in unearthing the people responsible …We will sort this thing out on a government-to-government basis,” Reuters quoted Qureshi as saying.

He said terrorism was a regional problem and Iran and Pakistan should join forces in rooting out extremism and radicalism.

“What we are asking is that we [sic.] as neighbors, as friends, as brotherly friendly countries, have to adopt a cooperative regional approach to deal with this menace,” he continued. “Pakistan is suffering, Pakistan is a victim of terrorism.”

At least 42 people, including senior commanders from the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Nour-Ali Shoushtari and Rajab-Ali Mohammadzadeh, were killed in a Sunday morning bombing during a gathering of Shia and Sunni tribal leaders in the borderline region of Pishin.

The Pakistan-based Jundallah terrorist group, which is closely affiliated with the notorious al-Qaeda organization, has claimed responsibility for the bomb blast.

Led by Abdulmalek Rigi, Jundallah terrorists have staged a tidal wave of bombings and terrorist attacks in Iran, one of which left at least 25 Iranians dead in early June.

The Asia Times reported in May, that al-Qaeda militants had sought to establish an alliance with the exiled Jundallah to fulfill longstanding plans of creating a strategic corridor in the region and lay the foundation for joint regional operations in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran.

Abdulhamid Rigi, the apprehended brother of the Jundallah point-man, told Press TV in a recent interview that Abdulmalek had held several “confidential” meetings with FBI and CIA agents in Karachi and Islamabad.

He added that during one of the meetings, two female US agents had offered weapons, safe bases in Afghanistan and professional trainers and had attempted to recruit volunteers.

Abdulhamid’s remarks comes two years after The Sunday Telegraph declared Jundallah to be a CIA brainchild engineered to achieve the Bush-era goal of “regime change in Iran.”
His beheaded body was found in Shahu Khel village.

Namaz-e-Janaza was held at 7pm yesterday.

North Yemen Shias controls key gov't positions

Houthi Shia soldiers in north Yemen on Wednesday said control of a number of key government positions in Razeh district of Saada province, a Yemeni news website reported.

The Houthis said they had taken full control of Bisbas, a government military position in Razeh district during the fighting, the report said.

The Shias also seized a strategic military base and a government military checkpoint in the region after hours of heavy clashes.

“These positions were full of military equipment, and we still control them along with an airport we seized yesterday,” the report quoted a spokesman for the Shias Mohamed Abdul-Salam as saying, without giving further details.

The Houthi said on Tuesday they had seized control of an airport in Razeh region bordering Saudi Arabia.

Zionist regime still detains 25 MPs

The international campaign for the release of lawmakers stated Tuesday that there are still 25 Palestinian MPs in Zionist occupation authority jails, most of them are affiliated with Hamas.

The international campaign for the release of lawmakers stated Tuesday that there are still 25 Palestinian MPs in Zionist occupation authority jails, most of them are affiliated with Hamas.

It noted that five of the lawmakers did not stand trial and most of them completed their sentences, but the Zionist occupation authority refused to release them and extended their administrative detention.

One of those imprisoned Hamas lawmakers, Hatem Kufaisheh, said in a letter leaked from Israeli jails that the Palestine liberation organization (PLO) deliberately discriminates between Palestinian prisoners.

Kufaisheh added that this discrimination is an insult to the sacrifices of Palestinian prisoners and reflects the state of political division in the Palestinian arena.

He explained that the PLO deprived 55 percent of the Palestinian prisoners, who do not belong to the PLO factions, of 45 percent of their financial allocations, unlike its prisoners who receive their allowances in full.

Hezbollah claims to have discovered Israeli spy devices in Lebanon

Beirut- Hezbollah, the Lebanese Shiite movement, claimed Monday that it had discovered and thwarted an Israeli spy surveillance network in southern Lebanon.

The claim refers to three electronic underground censors seemingly planted during the 2006 incursion by Israeli troops, and which monitored communications in Lebanon.

All three devices were subsequently destroyed after being discovered. A security source in southern Lebanon, who requested anonymity, said two of three devices were detonated remotely by the Israeli army, whilst a third was blown up by the Lebanese army on Sunday morning.

In a statement Hezbollah said it has achieved a ‘major accomplishment’ after its members ‘uncovered and thwarted an Israeli enemy aggression.’

Hezbollah said its group ‘managed to uncover a spy device planted by Israel between Houla and Mais el-Jabal that had been installed prior to the July 2006 war.’ It said the device was booby-trapped.

According to a security source in southern Lebanon, the devices were used for surveillance of communications by Hezbollah.

A United Nations Interim Forces (UNIFIL) statement said preliminary indications showed that these blasts were caused by ‘explosive charges contained in unattended underground sensors’ which were placed in that area by Israeli forces ‘apparently during the 2006 war.’

‘UNIFIL immediately launched an investigation to ascertain all the facts and circumstances relating to the presence of these devices and to establish how the explosions were triggered,’ the statement added.

Israel waged on July 12, 2006 a 33-day war against Lebanon, during which 1,200 Lebanese, mostly civilians, and 160 mainly Israel soldiers, were killed.

Saudi Arabia Bans Building of Shia Mosques

Saudi Arabia issued a ban on building of mosques, cemeteries and religious houses for Shia residing outside the Qatif, Al-Hassa and Najran where dense Shia citizens reside.

Sources informed Rasid that Eastern Province Governance issued a «Secret and Very Urgent» memo that contain clear sectarian instructions against Shia.

The memo outlines instructions for enforcing a ban on building Ismaili mosques outside Najran and religious houses and cemeteries outside Qatif and Al-Hassa.

The memo, which Rasid received a copy of it, is signed by Deputy Prince of Eastern Province, Jalawi bin ABdulaziz, and refers to direct orders from Interior Minister, Naif bin Abdulaziz.

The memo is addressed to the governors of Qatif, Al-Hassa, Jubail, Khobar, Abqaiq, Ras Tanura in addition to Chiefs of Police and Intelligence services. It mandates full compliance to Interior Minister instructions of enforcing a ban on using court yards as mosques and requesting extreme vigilance.

Analysts think that the memo which focuses on Ismaili Shia came late as arbitrary instructions are already in action since long.

It should be noted here that authorities refuse to issue permits for building Shia mosques outside Shia dense areas like Qatif, Al-Hasa and Najran.

Authorities refuses also to provide any justification for permit issuance refusal.

On the contrast, Saudi authorities build big and spacious Sunni mosques in the heart of Shia dense areas in Al-Hassa, Qatif, Najran and Madinah. These mosques used by small groups of expatriates and Shia citizens are not allowed to use them.

Closure of the Seventh Shia Mosque

Sources informed Rasid that Saudi authorities closed on Sunday an Ismaili Shia mosques in the Saudi Kuwaiti border city of Khafgi without giving any reason for the closure.

Seven Shia mosques were closed so far in Dammam, Khobar and Khafgi out of which three were closed within the past two months.

Sectarian Banishment
Sources informed Rasid that Saudi authorities started a campaign to remove high ranked officers from the Shia «Yam» tribe from security services.

Thousands of Ismaili who original come from Najran spread all over Saudi and many of them occupy major and important security positions in the State.

Some Analysts linked the recent banishment to the ongoing tension between Yemni Government and Huthies supporters on South borders of Saudi Arabia.

Joint efforts needed to counter Wahhabis’ wrong image of Islam: Grand Ayatollah

Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi has called on Islamic countries to make joint efforts to stop followers of Wahhabism from depicting a wrong image of Islam.

The leaders of Islamic countries should team up in their efforts to hold various conferences and gatherings or even invite Saudi Arabian officials in order to help stop such wrong teachings by followers of Wahhabism, Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi said in Qom on Wednesday.

He pointed to the recent terrorist attack in south eastern Iran, saying the killing of Muslims in Islamic countries has had two important consequences: it has created insecurity in those countries and it has portrayed a distorted image of Islam.

On Sunday, a terrorist attack killed over 40 people, including five senior commanders of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan.

The terrorist group Jundullah, also known as the Rigi group because it is led by Abdul-Malek Rigi, has claimed responsibility for the attack, which was carried out in the city of Pishin, near the border with Pakistan.

The Ayatollah said as long as such incidents take place, Islam’s enemies can easily misrepresent Islam.

He added that Iran is ready to provide advice in order to help resolve such problems and exterminate the terrorists who are damaging the real image of Islam.

All marriages should be solemnized in local mosques, says Shia clerics

Lucknow: The Shia Muslim Personal Law Board in Lucknow has made it mandatory for all Muslim marriages to be solemnized in local mosques irrespective of their financial status.

The decision was taken at the meeting of the All India Shia Personal Law Board, which is preparing to announce its national policy on October 25 in national capital.

Maulana Mirz Mohaommad Athar, a Muslim cleric and Shia scholar, welcomed this move, and said: “The marriages or the Nikkah (the contract between a bride and bridegroom) should be solemnised in the big mosques which is owned by the Muslim community. Not in the marriage halls or the banquets as neither the family of the girl or the boy gains out of it,”

Echoing similar sentiments was Maulana Khalid Rasheed, Principal of Darul-Quaza-Wal-Ifta, who said that this tradition has been continuing from the time of Hazrat Muhammad.

“As per the Islamic Shariat (Islamic law) performing of nikkah is auspicious if performed in a Masjid and this tradition has been continuing from the time of Hazrat Muhammad,” Rasheed said.

The move also aims to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor.

Blast heard at Islamic University in Pakistan's capital

A blast was heard at the Islamic University in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, on Tuesday, TV stations and a police official said, but there were no immediate details of a cause or casualties.

Two bomb blasts tore through a university in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad on Tuesday, with at least nine people reported injured as paramedics ferried casualties to hospitals, police said.

Police official Mohammad Afzal from the emergency response department said, “We have sent a team to the site. We are collecting information about casualties,” the policeman said.

Pakistan’s state PTV reported that nine people were wounded as private television channels broadcast footage of paramedics stretchering out two casualties with blood stains seeping through their clothes.

Yemeni army 'close to victory' in north + PIC

Yemeni Information Minister Hassan al-Lawzi says the army is close to quashing the movement by Houthi fighters north of the country.

Yemeni Information Minister Hassan al-Lawzi says the army is close to ending Houthis movement in the north.

“The armed forces are taking calculated moves, and a final end to these confrontations will come soon,” the state-run Saba news agency quoted Lawzi as saying on Tuesday.

His remarks come 10 weeks after the Operation Scorched Earth started on August 11 to crush Shia forces in Saada province and its surrounding areas, triggering fierce clashes which have left hundreds of people killed and wounded.

Yemen’s state media are reporting tight siege of anti-government groups, adding the armed forces have cut off their lines of supply.

Earlier, Yemeni Foreign Minister Abubakr al-Qirbi said the government was ready to hold conditional talks with Shia fighters in the north, but reiterated Sana’a’s refusal to negotiate with those who hold ‘separatist’ demands.

Houthis took arms against the Sana’a rule, accusing the dominantly Sunni government of neglect and discrimination against Yemen’s Shia minority, which accounts for almost 30 percent of the country’s population.

Al-Mazraq refugee camp, near the northwestern Yemeni province of Saada, is the only UN relief center for the displaced Yemenis.

Some 150,000 people have been displaced or affected by the conflict since 2004, more than one-third of whom have fled since the army’s latest offensive against the Shia fighters in the northern Saada province.

According to UN officials, tens of thousands of the displaced are still living in Saada, mostly in abandoned buildings, in the mountains and on roadsides in the war zone.

Lack of food, water and other basic necessities are plaguing those in Mazraq camp in Hajjah, the only UN camp for the displaced Yemenis, as widespread malaria, diarrhea and malnutrition have become major concerns.

The Sana’a government has also been facing massive protests in the south, where people are calling for a return to their formerly independent South Yemen prior to the unification of the north and the south in 1990.

Yemen, the ancestral homeland of Osama bin Laden, is also believed to host al-Qaeda militants around its borders while the waters off the Gulf of Aden nation remain a hotbed of relentless piracy.

Iran Guards calls on Pakistan to allow force to hunt attackers

A senior Iranian Revolutionary Guards commander called on Tuesday for permission to allow the force to confront attakers inside the territory of neighbouring Pakistan, state television reported.

The report, which did not give any direct quotes, said the commander of the Guards’ ground forces, Mohammad Pakpour, called for the “issuing of necessary permissions allowing the Guards to confront terrorists on Pakistani soil.”

It did not give details or specify whether he was referring to possible permission for such an operation from the Pakistani government.

Iran says the Sunni rebel group Jundollah (God’s soldiers), which has claimed a suicide bombing in southeastern Iran that killed 42 people on Sunday, operates from across the border in Pakistan.

Essence of human sciences lies in Koran

On the occasion of the auspicious birth anniversary of Hazrat-e Ma’soume, thousands of women scholars, involved in Koranic studies, met the Leader of Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei.

Ayatollah Khamenei in the a speech referred to women’s active participation in all scientific fields as a point of honor and said Koranic studies should be manifested in all aspects of social life.
The Leader of Islamic Revolution criticized the Western view of women and said Islam greatly respected women and paved the way for their capabilities to flourish.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the remarkable number of woman scholars in the field of Koranic studies in Iran is unprecedented, adding that under the rule of the deposed Shah, a huge gap between people and the Koran was formed and because of it we must put all efforts to bridge the gap.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the only way to have a society inspired by the Koran is to align its governing rules with Koran.
“It is a clear cut fact that the establishment of an Islamic republic in Iran was the major result of exact following of Koranic principles,” the Leader of Islamic Revolution said.
The IR Leader underlined that the formation of the Islamic system has paved the way for Koranic training on which the Iranians should form their behavior in family, management politics, and international scene.
Ayatollah Khamenei urged familiarity with Koranic teachings and said Koranic researches should be done in a way to materialize the teachings in society and life.
Ayatollah Khamenei said if heart is not clean, Koran may be misused for attacking Islam, the Islamic Republic and virtues which the Islamic system brought to society.
The IR Leader termed familiarity with Arabic language and principles of jurisprudence as prerequisites for Koranic researches, adding that a scientific method for Koranic studies is very important and the way of Ulema and jurists in using verses and traditions is completely tested.
Pointing to the issue of westernized human sciences in universities and expressing his criticism in this regard, Ayatollah Khamenei said that the base of the western human sciences is material ideology which is contrary to religious and Koranic teachings while we should seek essence of human sciences in The Koran.
The Islamic Revolution Leader urged taking principles of human sciences from Koran and said “if we do so, the Koranic researchers could establish a firm base for human sciences.”

Yemen Court Sentences 10 Shia to Death

The court jailed six others for 15 years in one of a series of trials of members of the movement in Northern provinces by Zaidi Shi’ite Muslims known as Houthis after their religious and clan leaders.

The trials are of men captured during a month-long fight at Bani Husheish only 30 km (19 miles) north of the capital Sanaa last year. Two others were sentenced to death last week.

Upon sentencing the men shouted the Houthi slogan “Allah is great, death to America, death to Israel, curse the Zionism, victory to Islam.”

They were found guilty of belonging to a so-called “terrorist organization,” the first time Yemeni courts have accused Houthis on a charge usually reserved for al Qaeda militants.

The Zaidis first took up arms against the rule of President Ali Abdullah Saleh in 2004, citing political, economic and religious marginalization by the Saudi- and Western-backed government.

But the conflict intensified in August when the army unleashed Operation Scorched Earth. Aid groups, who have been given limited access to the Northern provinces, say up to 150,000 people have fled their homes since 2004.

Saleh, who also faces a separatist movement in the south, said last week the army would crush the uprising “within days.” Top Wahhabi – anti Shia – State and oil exporter Saudi Arabia fears the rise of Shia in Yemen.

Saudi forces on Monday fired into a northern border town in support of the Yemeni army’s operations.

Both the government and Houthis reported heavy fighting on Monday and Tuesday at Razeh near the Saudi border.

Is a new cold war brewing with Iran?

The rash of recent Iranian defections fits a pattern that was familiar in Europe at the height of the Cold War with the Soviet Union. Now, after three decades of blistering antagonism, Iran and the West appear to be sliding into their own Cold War.

Physicist Shahram Amiri, a researcher at Tehran’s Malek Ashtar University, went missing in June on the third day of a pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

His family says the medical isotope specialist, who worked in an institution identified by the European Union as a possible secret nuclear weapons lab, phoned home when he first arrived but hasn’t been heard from since.

The pro-government Iranian newspaper Javan (Young) said this week Saudi immigration officials questioned Mr. Amiri extensively when he first arrived for a personal pilgrimage, but three days later he left his hotel in Medina and never returned.

A week ago, four months after his disappearance, Manouchehr Mottaki, Iran’s Foreign Minister, finally went public with the case, blaming the United States and Saudi Arabia.

“We have obtained documents that show U.S. interference in the disappearance of Shahram Amiri in Saudi Arabia,” he said. “We consider Saudi Arabia responsible for the situation and we consider Americans to have been involved in his arrest.”

Neither Washington nor Riyadh will comment on the case.

A second Iranian scientist, identified only as “Ardebili,” was apparently arrested in September while on a business trip in Georgia. He was allegedly secretly extradited to the United States.

His name and details of his and Mr. Amiri’s case, along with those of three other suspected abduction victims, are said to have been given to Ban Ki-moon, the UN Secretary General, during a private meeting with Mr. Mottaki.

Perhaps most damaging to Iran’s nuclear ambitions was the disappearance two years ago of Ali Reza Asgari, a general in the Revolutionary Guard . He vanished into thin air while on a business trip to Turkey, days after 10 members of his immediate family left Iran and also disappeared.

The former deputy defence minister was supposed to have been in charge of logistics for Iran’s nuclear program. He had access to its highest classified information.

Some observers speculated he may have worked for years as a U.S. mole and simply fled with his family when he learned he was about to be exposed as a spy.

At the time of his defection, an Israeli newspaper said Gen. Asgari had originally been recruited by the Mossad, Israel’s secret service, but he thought he was working for a European intelligence service.

A London-based Arab newspaper mused that the general took with him documents definitively linking Tehran to the actions of Lebanon’s Hezbollah, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and the two main insurgency forces in Iraq, the Mahdi Army and the Badr Corps.

Other reports surrounding the defection also claimed he blew the whistle on Syria’s collaboration with North Korea to build a secret nuclear facility, which Israel destroyed just weeks later in September 2007.

The rash of recent Iranian defections fits a pattern that was familiar in Europe at the height of the Cold War with the Soviet Union. Now, after three decades of blistering antagonism, Iran and the West appear to be sliding into their own Cold War.

What started as an ideological rivalry in the tense aftermath of the 1979 Iranian Revolution has gradually become a shadow war tinged with nuclear fears.

Trapped between failed bids at diplomatic détente and the risks of a direct military strike at Iran’s suspected nuclear weapon sites, Tehran and Washington are sliding uncomfortably into a strategic standoff that mimics the old showdown with the Soviet Union.

It is a conflict marked by complex regional manoeuvring, militant posturing, a surge in covert activity and shrill propaganda.

Tensions are growing on several fronts, as Washington accuses Iran of secretly trying to build nuclear weapons and supporting terrorism, while destabilizing Iraq, covertly supplying weapons to insurgents in Afghanistan, arming Hezbollah in Lebanon and funding Hamas in Gaza.

Iranian officials counter by accusing Washington of trying to foment a “velvet revolution” in Iran.

In the absence of formal ties and with limited commercial and cultural exchanges, the two countries rely heavily on their intelligence agencies to collect data on each other’s intentions.

Washington is also employing “soft power” – broadcasting, cultural programs and the promotion of democracy and human rights – to try and influence Iranian public opinion.

The leaders of Iran’s Islamic Republic try to rally international support to their Islamic cause.

Shying away from direct military contact, Iran and the U.S., like Washington and Moscow of old, compete in a series of peripheral surrogate conflicts.

Tehran has resupplied Hezbollah with thousands of rockets after its recent war with Israel. It also pumped millions into Gaza after the territory was cut off from international aid following the election there of Hamas. It has maintained an intricate web of contacts with Shiite leaders in Iraq and has been accused of supplying explosives to Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan.

For its part, Washington has doubled up on its aircraft carrier deployments in the Persian Gulf, urged Arab states to join anti-Iranian regional alliances and orchestrated economic sanctions against Iran.

As in the old Cold War, the new showdown has moments of growing tension.

Israel has held nation-wide air raid drills in anticipation of an Iranian attack. Iran has held naval manoeuvres at the mouth of the Straits of Hormuz, through which 40% of the world’s oil passes.

Tehran has also responded to Israeli war games and perceived U.S. threats by test-firing medium- and long-range missiles and threatening to annihilate its enemies if attacked.

Throughout the confrontation a propaganda war has raged. Iran claims to have uncovered spy networks, arrested Iranian-Americans, accused the West of playing on ethnic divisions to foment regime change, and sentenced political dissidents to death.

Like the original Cold War, the West has run sophisticated disinformation campaigns against Iran and undermined its economy with sanctions and currency manipulations.

Still, a steady stream of defections remains a prime tool for curbing Iran’s nuclear programs and manipulating public attitudes toward its leaders.

Just on Friday, the daughter of one of Mahmoud Ahdaminejad’s top advisors sought political asylum in Germany.

Narges Kalhor, a 25-year-old filmmaker, whose father Mahdi Kalhor advises the Iranian President on cultural affairs and is a government media spokesman, decided to defect after attending a documentary film festival at which she publicly criticized Iran’s human rights record.

First Day of the month of Zee Qa'dah Birthday Anniversary of Hadrat Fatima Masumah(A.S.)

Hadrat Fatima Masumah (A.S.) the Blessed and the Gracious Divine Lady from the Holy Ahlul Bayt (A.S.) was born on first day of the month of Zee al-Qa’adah in the year 173 A.H. in the holy city of Madinah Munawwarah. Her holy father was martyred in the Baghdad prison at the hands of the Abbasid caliph Harun al-Rashid after undergoing long term of imprisonment and tortures. After the martyrdom of her holy father she came under the care of Imam Reza (A.S.), her elder brother.
In the year 200 A.H., Imam Reza (A.S.) was forced to leave Madinah Munawwarah by the orders of Mamun, the Abbasid caliph. Imam Reza (A.S.) came alone to Marv (Khurasan) and did not accompany any of his family members.
In the year 201 A.H., Hadrat Fatimah Masoumah (A.S.) accompanied by her brothers and other elders from the Ahlul Bayt (A.S.) left Madinah Munawwarah for Marv (Khurasan) to meet Imam Reza (A.S.). On their way they were welcomed and greeted by the people of the different cities and villages.
Hadrat Masoumah (A.S.) like her noble aunt Hadrat Zainab (A.S.) delivered the message of innocence of her brother Imam Reza (A.S) and revealed the evil intentions of the Abbasid caliph to the public. When the caravan reached Saveh a group of armed men who were deputed by Mamun, the Abbasid caliph, savagely attacked them and all the brothers of Hadrat Masoumah (A.S.) were martyred and according to some historical reports she was poisoned and became severely ill.
Due to her ill health she was unable to continue her journey towards Khurasan and decided to go towards Qum which is near Saveh. Hadrat Masoumah (A.S.) narrated while going towards Qum that her father, Imam Musa al-Kazim (A.S.) has said that city of Qum is the centre of the Shi’ites.
The inhabitants of Qum who were Shi’ites became very happy that Hadrat Masoumah (A.S.) is visiting their city and they gave warm welcome to her. Musa bin Khajraj, the doyen of Ashari family in Qum took the rein of the she-camel litter in his hand in which Hadrat Masoumah (A.S) was travelling and large number of people gathered around the she-camel litter. Hadrat Masoumah (A.S.) entered the city of Qum on 23rd Rabi al-Awwal, in the year 201 A.H.
She then resided in the house of Musa bin Khajraj in the locality which is now called as “Maidan Mir”.
She remained alive only for 17 days because she was poisoned in Saveh. But even in this condition she spent most of her time in praying and supplicating to Allah (SWT).
The place of her stay and worship in Qum is now situated in the Madrasa Sittiyah and is known as “Bait al-Nur” and is a place of ziyarah for the Shi’ites.
She passed away on 10th Rabi al-Thani, in the year 201 A.H. and she could not meet her elder brother before death. The Shi’ites in Qum greatly mourned her death and she was buried in a place called Bagh-i Babelan, which at that time was located outside the city. When the grave was ready there arose a difference that who should keep the body of Hadrat Masoumah (A.S.) in the grave. It is reported that suddenly two men whose face were covered and riding the horses came to that place and performed the Salaat-e Mayyit ( the prayers for the dead person) and then one of them went in the grave and the other person gave the body of Hadrat Masoumah (A.S.) to that standing person in the grave who laid her to rest in the grave.
After the burial ceremony was over both those persons without talking to anybody sat on their horse and went away.
It is said that those two holy personalities who performed the burial ceremony for Hadrat Masoumah (A.S.) were Imam Reza (A.S.) and Imam Muhammad Taqi al-Jawad (A.S.). According to sacred rules the burial ceremony of an infallible has to be performed by another infallible person for example the burial ceremony of Hadrat Fatima Zahra (A.S.) was performed by Amir al-Muminin Imam Ali (A.S.).
After the burial of Hadrat Masoumah (A.S.), Musa bin Khajraj built a shed over the grave made out of mat. In the year 256 A.H., Hadrat Zainab (A.S.), the daughter of Imam Muhammad Taqi al-Jawad (A.S.) constructed a dome over the grave of her aunt Hadrat Masoumah (A.S.).
Since the burial of that divine lady of Islam in Qum, the holy grave of her have become a centre of ziyarah for the lovers of the Holy Ahlul Bayt (A.S.)
Hadrat Fatima Masumah(A.S.) was the most learned scholar and very pious lady and was greatly revered by the Holy Imams(A.S.).

She is buried in the holy city of Qum, Iran and her holy shrine is every year visited by millions of the lovers and followers of Holy Ahlul Bayt(A.S.) from all over the world. The holy city of Qum is also the famous centre of the leading Islamic Hawzah (seminaries), research centers and publishing companies in the world.

On this Auspicious Occasion we extend our Happy and Joyous Greetings and felicitations to all the lovers of the Holy Ahlul Bayt (A.S.) in the world.

IRGC promises Jundallah 'crushing response' (PIC)

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has vowed to give a sever response to the Pishin attack that killed 42 people, including commanders and tribal figures.

(A picture taken before his death shows provincial IRGC commander Brigadier Nour-Ali Shoushtari (center) smiling as he greets a local man in the southeastern province of Sistan-Balouchestan)

“The murder of Nour-Ali Shoushtari, Rajab-Ali Mohammadzadeh, and Bluch tribal leaders, whose blood represents the unity between Shia and Sunni in Iran, will not be left unanswered,” commander of the IRGC ground force General Mohammad Pakpour said on Saturday.

Senior IRGC commanders Shoushtari and Mohammadzadeh were killed in a Sunday morning bombing carried out by the Pakistan-based Jundallah separatist group in Pishin, a borderline region in southeast Iran.

Gen. Pakpour said that “global arrogance” had Brigadier Shoustari assassinated because of the “innovative security tactics he was carrying out in the region”.

He added that the attack took place as the senior IRGC commander was beginning to achieve constructive results.

Gen. Pakpour said, however, that Shoustari’s death will breathe new life into the unity that the region’s Shia and Sunni communities already share, much to the enemy’s disappointment.

Jundallah, a terrorist ring closely affiliated with the notorious al-Qaeda organization and led by Abdolmalik Rigi, has carried out countless bombings and other violent attacks in Iran.

According to a 2007 Sunday Telegraph report, the group was originally created by the CIA to achieve ‘regime change in Iran’. The report said the US intelligence agency sought to destabilize Iran by ‘supplying arms-length support’ and ‘money and weapons’ to Jundallah.

Another report posted by ABC also revealed that US officials had ordered the group to ‘stage deadly guerrilla raids inside the Islamic Republic, kidnap Iranian officials and execute them on camera’, all as part of a ‘programmatic objective to overthrow the Iranian government’.

In a recent interview with Press TV, Rigi’s brother also confirmed the Jundallah leader’s suspected links with the US agents.

Abdulhamid Rigi said that in just one of his meetings with the US operatives, his brother had received $100,000 for his projects in Iran.

Indian leader: US, Israel behind Blast in Iran

While condemning the blast in southeastern province of the Islamic Republic of Iran, an Indian leader Monday said: “US and Israel are behind the blast in the country.

In an exclusive interview with the Islamic republic news agency, Soaib Iqbal, Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), Delhi Assembly said: “The blast in southeastern Iran was in revenge for the defeat tasted by Israel, US and its allies on several fronts against the Islamic Republic”.

“My heart goes out to the people and the families in Iran who have lost their lives,” he said. Adding that powerful Iran will fight this spectre of terror.

“I condemn in the strongest terms the attack took place in the city of Pishin near the border with Pakistan in Sistan and Balouchestan province, killing 29 people including top commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and tribal leaders”, said Shoaib.

The suicide attack, when IRGC officers were preparing for a meeting with local tribal leaders of Shiite and Sunni communities, is unjustifiable, the Indian leader said. Adding that this is a terrible tragedy and a dirty strategy adopted by anti Iran forces, to sabotage its ( Iran’s) efforts to establish unity among Muslim Ummah and to destabilize the country, he added.

“This is a heinous crime committed against a peace loving country which had been working tirelessly, to assist the oppressed people of the world especially Palestinians, to unite muslims, and to establish peace around the globe”, Shoaib concluded.

Iran– IRGC commanders martyred in suicide bombing

An unknown suicide bomber assassinated several commanders of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps in southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan on Sunday morning.

Two separate terrorist explosions in southeastern parts of Iran have killed and injured dozens including top commanders of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

The first attack took place at a unity gathering of Shia and Sunni tribal leaders on Sunday morning, in the Pishin area, a region situated in the borderline Province of Sistan-Balouchestan.

Reports indicate that provincial IRGC commanders Brigadier Nour-Ali Shoushtari and Brigadier Rajab-Ali Mohammadzadeh were among those who lost their lives in the attack.

Several tribal leaders and recognized local figures from both the Shia and Sunni communities were killed in the attack.

The victims included Aref Bara son of Haj Vali Mohammad, Eslam Movahhedi son of Ebrahim, Kalati Dehqani son of Shanbe Haj, Shahani Dehqani son of Saheb, Panjshanbe Dehqani son of Gajir, and Khodabakhsh Dehqani son of Moradbakhsh.

There are no clear reports on the exact number of casualties as of yet but preliminary figures suggest that up to 60 people have been killed or injured in the attack.

At around the same time, another group of IRGC commanders were caught in an explosion as their convoy came under attack at a road junction in Pishin- a region situated between the two towns of Sarbaz and Chabahar.

Eyewitness said the convoy was turning at the junction when the bomb exploded.

So far, no group has accepted responsibility for the deadly attacks.

Ahmadinejad Vows to Avenge Revolutionary Guard Suicide Bombing/ 41 Martyred (2nd UPDATE)

At least 41 people, including senior military officers and tribal leaders, were martyred when a suicide bomber blew himself up at a meeting of the elite Revolutionary Guards in southeastern Iran on Sunday, the interior ministry said.

“Based on the information… as a result of today’s terrorist action… so far 41 people have been martyred and 28 have been wounded,” the ministry said on its website.

“The martyrs include several innocent Shiite and Sunni people, tribal chiefs and commanders of Guards (including senior officers in the Iran Revolutionary Guards Corps including deputy chief of the ground forces Brigadier General Nour Ali Shushtari). Very soon we will catch the perpetrators of this terrorist action and punish them.”

The explosion took place in the city of Pisheen in the south eastern province of Sistan-Bluchestan near the border with Pakistan and at least 41 people were martyred.

The strike took place when officers from the Guards were preparing to stage a meeting between local leaders of Shiite and Sunni communities.

Some local tribal heads and several senior officers of the Guards were among the slain.
“In this terrorist act, General Nur-Ali Shushtari, deputy commander of the Revolutionary Guards ground forces, General Mohammad-Zadeh, commander of the Revolutionary Guards in Sistan-Baluchestan province, the Guards’ commander for the town of Iranshahr and the commander of the Amir al-Momenin unit died,” the Fars news agency reported.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad vowed to strike back at the “criminals” behind a suicide bombing that targeted the Islamic Republic’s Revolutionary Guard, the official IRNA news agency reported.

“The criminals will soon get the response for their anti-human crimes,” IRNA quoted Ahmadinejad as saying. The Iranian leader also accused unspecified foreigners of involvement.

Parliamentary speaker Ali Larijani confirmed the officers’ death in an announcement to parliament which was broadcast on television.
Larijani said the United States was implicated in Sunday’s bomb attack.
“We consider the recent terrorist attack to be the result of US action. This is a sign of America’s animosity against our country,” Larijani said.
“Mr. Obama has said he will extend his hand towards Iran, but with this terrorist action he has burned his hand,” he added, referring to US President Barack Obama.

Iran has previously accused shadowy group Jundallah (Soldiers of God) of launching regular attacks in the province, which borders both Afghanistan and Pakistan.

US CONDEMNS BOMBING, DENIES INVOLVEMENT

Meanwhile, the United States condemned the suicide bombing that struck Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards, and denied any involvement in the attack.

Saudi Shia scholar: We'll continue to pray irrespective of consequences

Sayed Mohammad Al-Nasser, Jumaa Imam in Khobar city, said that Saudi Shia will continue performing Jumaa prayers whatever the consequences are and that they are waiting for a royal resolution on the closure of Shia mosques.

Al-Nasser, a leading Saudi Shia scholar of Al-Khobar city, East of Saudi Arabia, said that “performing Jumaa prayers is our natural right as Muslims and as citizens loyal to their land and religion.”

During Jumaa prayer which was held in a house in Al-Khobar, Al-Nasser condemned the religious discrimination among citizens where Sunnis are allowed to perform prayers in their mosques and Shia are not allowed do the same thing.

Authorities had already closed five Shia mosques in Khobar city where about 20,000 Shia citizens live there according to unofficial sources.

Saudi authorities do not allow their Shia citizens to build their own mosques nor have their own cemeteries in areas outside Qatif, Al-Hasa and Najran where they are majority.

The official bodies in Eastern Province Governance and the Ministry of Religious Affairs do not provide reasons for the ban on Shia.

Royal Decree

Al-Nasser said that Shia citizens are waiting for a royal decree by King Abdullah to resolve the issue of continuous closure of Shia mosques.

High level Shia delegation from Khobar met King Abdullah on July 19 to brief him about the closure of Shia mosques and he promised to look in to the subject matter but so far there are no positive results.

Al-Nasser pointed out that some of the local officials encourage Shia, who visit them for complaint, to perform prayers in Sunni mosques instead of granting permission to build their own.

Al-Nasser said “we request one of the Sunni mosques to allow us use their mosque during Ramadan but they refued unless we get a permission from Emara or Awqaf.”

As a result, Shia citizens built a large tent to perform prayers during Ramadan.

Authorities called Hajj Abdullah Al-Muhana, the custodian of the tent, and forced him to sign an undertaking to remove the tent or he will be sent to jail.

Al-Nasser said that we are currently waiting in an anticipation to hear from the officials to resolve pending issues.

Human Rights Watch said in a report released recently, that Saudi is practicing Systematic Discrimination and Hostility toward Saudi Shia Citizens.

State discrimination against Shia extends to realms other than religious freedom. The report cites discrimination in the education system, where Shia may not teach religion in class and Shia pupils learn from Sunni teachers that they are unbelievers.

Yemen army claims 29 Shiia soldiers martyred

Troops killed 12 Shias in clashes on Tuesday in the Harf Sufyan district of Amran province, 70 kilometres (40 miles) north of the capital, the official Saba news agency quoted a commander as saying.

The other zealous Shias were martyred in several different clashes in Saada province further north, the commander said.

Israel and U.S. plot foils to assassinate African Shia Leader

A plot to assassinate Shaykh Ibrahim Yaqub Zakzaky, leader of the Islamic movement in Nigeria, was foiled when news of it leaked out last month and the Shaykh as well as his followers spoke out against it. The diabolical plot hatched by the Nigerian security operatives at the orders of the American embassy in Abuja and in cooperation with the Israelis was to be carried out in Ramadan both before and during the Quds Day march. Quds Day rallies are held worldwide on the last Friday of Ramadan, which fell on September 18 this year. The plot was to be launched by bombing Shaykh Zakzaky’s residence in Gyallesy, Zaria. Speaking about the plot during Juma Khutbah on September 11, the Shaykh said, if they want to kill me, why do they want to bomb my house where my 88-year-old mother and young children live? He also called on the authorities to realize that such bombings would also kill his neighbors, who are completely innocent.

Details of the plot indicate that in addition to American and Israeli involvement, it also had the backing of the Saudis whose paid preachers are scattered throughout the country. Nigerian security operatives had met in Abuja, the country’s capital, in early September to put final touches to the plot. Part of it included unleashing a wave of denunciations of Shaykh Zak-zaky and his followers by Saudi-funded “ulama” who would brand his group “heretics.” This is an old ploy used against people that the regime wishes to target. The attack plan was concentrated in Zaria where the largest Quds dDay rally takes place each year although such rallies are held in other states — Kano, Katsina and Delta — as well.

The Nigerian security operatives set up a special “Anti-Terrorist Squad” and dispatched its members to all the states but their primary focus was on Zaria. The plan was to carry out a massacre during the Quds Day procession by accusing demonstrators of disobeying orders and disturbing the peace. This was to be followed by fanning out into other towns under the pretext of hunting fleeing members of the movement and remnants of the dislodged “Boko Haram” group. Checkpoints were also to be set up to prevent any help from reaching the movement from other areas. At the same time, government-sponsored “ulama” were to mount a propaganda campaign against the movement by denouncing it as a “deviant sect” whose leader and members deserved elimination. This was intended to limit sympathy for the group from ordinary people if the massacre turned ugly, especially with women and children being murdered in cold blood.

Unlike the past when groups were instigated to attack Shaykh Zakzaky’s movement, this time the security forces were to carry out the massacre themselves. Additionally, plans had been prepared to take members of the movement into the bush before executing them. This would avoid arousing sympathy for them if people saw the brutal tactics of the security forces.

The government was not content with simply attacking and killing the leader and active members of the Islamic movement. There was also a long-term plan; this would be the next phase of the operation and was to identify those scholars that are aligned with or have sympathy with the Islamic movement. They would be targeted in two ways. First, an attempt would be made to buy them off; those willing to cooperate with the regime would be rewarded and provided opportunity to espouse hatred against the movement. The rest would be hunted and eliminated.

The plan also included an intense media campaign in which various outlets were to be utilized to carry government propaganda and statements of “ulama” against Shaykh Zakzaky and his group. One, Dr. Gumi stands out as the most willing tool of the regime and has been given free rein to espouse hateful messages from the Sultan Bello mosque. He is allowed to preach hatred and violence despite the fact that it contravenes an agreement whereby clerics are called upon to guard against divisive and inciting statements during Rama-dan. Particularly targeted were Shaykh Zakzaky’s popular Ramadan tafsir sessions that are attended by large numbers of people. In addition to such attacks, another ploy included the use of singers to attract people and to divert them away from Islam.

The Kaduna State police commissioner was in the forefront of this campaign against Shaykh Zakzaky. It has come to light that he had earlier sent an intelligence report to Abuja proposing drastic action against Shaykh Zakzaky and the Islamic Movement. In his report, he admitted that the US embassy in Abuja had demanded firm action. He was also reported to have held meetings with district heads, Islamic scholars and community leaders in Kaduna in preparation for the planned onslaught.

This is part of the US war on terrorism in which any Islamic activist or independent-minded alim is targeted for assassination. In Nigeria the Zionists are also very active. Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, a well-known racist, had only a few weeks earlier visited Nigeria. The visit was presented as part of an agreement on agricultural and technological cooperation between the two countries but it also included a security pact whereby Israel would not only train Nigerian security personnel but also be directly involved in local security operations. The plot to assassinate Shaykh Zazaky coming within days of Lieberman’s visit could not be more revealing especially in view of his racist views and hatred of Islamic activists.

Shaykh Zakzaky is not new to such plots. He has spent many years in prison for defying successive dictatorial regimes in Nigeria. He has a large following among the people because of his courageous stand and sacrificing spirit. During the Quds Day rally that had set out from the Sabon Gari Masjid in Sabon Gari, Zaria on September 18, the security personnel attacked the rally and were planning to perpetrate a bloodbath at Kofar Doka Roundabout area where the march was to end. Despite the peaceful nature of the rally, the Nigerian Police Mobile Force stationed at Kofar Doka attacked the marchers. The Police not only used tear gas but also opened fire, shooting at least four people. One protester was reportedly martyred whose body was immediately taken away by the police.

Faced with such violence, the organizers of the rally decided to change the termination point and the procession was diverted to the nearby Juma‘at Mosque in Tudun Wada Zaria. At the conclusion of the rally Shaykh Zakzaky spoke both about the Quds Day event as well as the police attack. He urged his followers to remain steadfast and not be cowed down by such terror tactics. Reflecting their anger and disgust at Israeli brutality in Occupied Palestine, Israeli flags were set on fire amid shouts of Allahu-akbar and anti-Zionist slogans.

The rally concluded with special du‘as and expressions of solidarity with the oppressed people of Occupied Palestine. It would seem, however, that in Muslim countries it is now a crime to express solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine and those who do so are likely to face the brutality of the security forces to please their American and Zionist masters.

Al-Aqsa mosque under siege by Zionist police

Israel has deployed thousands of security forces in and around the Al-Aqsa mosque compound amid heightened tensions over the closure of the holy site in East Jerusalem Al-Quds.

Tensions were running high in the Holy City on Monday, as tens of thousands of Jews attended a religious ceremony in the compound–known to Muslims as Al-Haram Al-Sharif and to Jews as the Temple Mount, AFP reported.

An estimated 30,000 Jews prayed at the Western Wall, below Al-Aqsa, for the Priestly Blessing ceremony, a highlight of the Sukkot celebrations.

Israeli police restricted access to the mosque compound to Muslim men aged 50 and over, with no restrictions for women, after Sunday’s clashes, in which seven Palestinian protesters were injured and three arrested.

“These measures were taken to avert new incidents on the compound and the Old City and to prevent stones being thrown at the Jewish faithful who come to pray at the Western Wall,” Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld claimed.

Clashes broke out after more than 150 Palestinians protested the closure of the holy compound, following what the Israelis claimed to be calls by the Palestinian media to “come protect the Mount.”

Israel occupied East Jerusalem Al-Quds during a 1967 aggression and later annexed it. The status of the city is among the thorniest issues of the peace process with the Palestinians, underscoring the reality that any Palestinian state should include the city as its capital.
