PAKISTANIS RISE AGAINST TALIBAN AFTER MOSQUE BLAST
More than a thousand armed tribesman seeking revenge for a mosque attack surrounded two Taliban strongholds and destroyed the homes of Taliban fighters – including some commanders – in Pakistan’s northwest. According to AP, as many as 1,600 tribesmen have joined a citizens’ militia in Upper Dir district – an indication of rising anti-Taliban sentiment in Pakistan as the military pursues its offensive against the militant group in the nearby Swat Valley.
Khaista Rehman, a local police chief said: “The militias, known as lashkars, were focusing on two villages known as Taliban strongholds.”
IR Leader calls for massive turnout in polls
In a significant and glorious gathering of different groups of people on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Imam Khomeini’s demise, the Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei regarded raising the two flags of “revival of Islam” and “dignity and pride of Iran and the Iranian” as two dimensions of the late Imam’s historical movement.
Referring to the enemies’ efforts to impede progress and exaltation of the Iranian people, the IR Leader stressed:” All of the people and all of those interested in the strength of the system, Islam and the Iranian nation should vote with all of their power and vigor in the presidential elections.”
In this ceremony which was held in the late Sayyed Mostafa Khomeini courtyard in Imam Khomeini’s holy shrine, Ayatollah Khamenei offered his condolences on the anniversary of the calamity of losing the great father of the Iranian people, considering the feeling of identity and originality by Muslims of the world as one of the valuable results of raising the flag of the revival of Islam by the late Imam Khomeini.
“As a result of Imam Khomeini’s great Islamic movement, the Palestinian people was revived after decades of disappointment; Arab countries felt hopeful after consecutive failures and the Zionist regime as a cancerous tumor which had depicted an invincible figure of itself, was slapped by the hand of Muslim youths,” he added.
Pointing to the consecutive Intifadas of the Palestinian people and their consecutive strikes against the Zionist regime, the retreat of the occupying regime from Lebanon and its defeat in the two wars of 33 days in Lebanon and 22 days in Gaza, IRI Leader said:” All of these were because of the blessing of the revival of the flag of Islam by Imam Khomeini’s hands, so that the Zionist regime was forced to temporarily abandon the slogan of ‘from Nile to Euphrates.'”
Explaining the results of raising the flag of the revival of Islam, Ayatollah Khamenei added:” The endeavor of Muslim nations to establish Islamic government and system, creating the spirit of hope among the intellectuals of the Islamic world and softening the tone of the Western world against Muslims, all of these are of the blessings and results of general awakening and resistance in the Islamic world.”
“Muslims all over the Islamic world should appreciate this successful and valuable experience and organize their way according to it, because the only way to the dignity and pride of Muslim nations is their resistance,” he stressed.
Citing examples of U.S. oppressions, he said: “America spoke about democracy and the credibility of the votes of nations, but ignored the votes of the Palestinian people in electing their favorite government and by fully supporting the Zionist regime called the oppressed Palestinian people anarchist and evil.”
Reminding the US behavior regarding Iran’s nuclear issue, IRI Leader added: “Americans in front of the natural and legitimate right of the Iranian people who seek achieving the nuclear industry and using the nuclear energy in different peaceful issues, accused the Iranian people of trying to build the atomic bomb by telling lies and concealing the reality.”
“The Iranian people and their officials have declared times and again that the nuclear weapon is religiously forbidden (Haram) in Islam and they do not have such a weapon. But the western countries and America in particular through false propaganda claim that Iran seeks to build nuclear bombs which is totally false and a breach of the legitimate rights of the Iranian nation,” Ayatollah Khamenei added.
On the American new approach, the IR Leader said it is not possible to bring about changes through speeches and mottos but they should take practical steps and compensate all their mistakes and wrongdoings in connection with the Iranian nation as well as the entire region.
“Former American administration by resorting to violence, military intervention, discrimination and bullying behavior depicted a disgusting image of itself and the Muslim nations deeply hate the United States,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.
Referring to unwise policies of the former American president who occupied Afghanistan and Iraq under the pretext of campaign against terrorism, the IR Leader said the sincerity of the US administration should be proved in action, otherwise, ushering soft words and delivering speeches for Islamic nations will not bring about any change.
He considered the revival of the spirit of dignity and pride of Iran and the Iranian as another dimension of Imam Khomeini’s great movement and said:” The late Imam wiped off the feeling of inferiority from the spirit of the nation. The feeling of inferiority that dependent governments, dictators and Westernized intellectuals instilled into the country, and by continuously blowing the spirit of self-esteem to the nation, the late Imam proved that ‘we can and we are powerful.'”
Ayatollah Khamenei called facilities as necessary for the progress of any country, adding:” The main pillar of progress and power is spiritual components and especially the feeling of self-esteem and national dignity that can grant popularly-elected systems strength and power against the bullying powers and make any nation enjoy effectiveness in international equations and policies.”
IRI Leader regarded national dignity as a very essential necessity and said:” Relying on people in the dimension of the country’s management, self-sufficiency and the power of exchange in the economic arena, the production of science and having a large portion in the scientific structure of the world and being proud of national culture and traditions, are issues that make national dignity meaningful.”
He considered respecting the individual human beings as the practical meaning of national dignity in the arena of society management, adding:” National dignity in foreign policy means enjoying the independence of opinion, so that no power can impose any issue on the country and people.”
Referring to the commitment of people and the system to national self-esteem and national dignity as Imam’s valuable instruction, Ayatollah Khamenei said:” The country’s 30-year-old movement in this direction has had ups and downs but never stopped and Iranian wise people by preserving national dignity in all arenas, continue the way to exaltation and progress and reach a point with full power that enemies even dare not threaten it.”
Criticizing those who claim that the Iranian nation has been humiliated, the IR Leader said the dignity of this great nation in various international arenas is very outstanding and clear adding,”
The bullying powers have formed an alliance against the Iranian nation, trying to insinuate, through full-scale propaganda campaign, that the nation has admitted humiliation but to no avail.”
IRI Leader regarded parting company with people, distancing from Islamic values and forgetting Imam’s auspicious guidelines as a great danger for the country, adding:” By preserving the powerful skeleton of the system which is the souvenir of our dear Imam and by relying on the will of people especially the youth, we should continue our way until the final victory.”
Pointing to the upcoming presidential elections, Ayatollah Khamenei slammed efforts made by aliens’ media efforts to manipulate the elections and said sometimes the enemies claim that elections in Iran is just appointing somebody and sometimes claim that it is a controlled game inside the administration which will be with fraud. They try to hit the religious democracy in the country and prevent massive turnout in the elections through these efforts.
The IR Leader praised the Iranian nation as a dear, clever, aware and experienced nation and said that the enemy seeks to inculcate despair in the nation to deprive the system from the firm support including the people’s votes. Unfortunately some people in the country repeat the enemy’s words and help its plots.
Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted choosing different officials of the system as a glory for the nation and underlined that the aliens bid to deprive the nation from this glory but everybody who is interested in Islam, the system and the Iranian nation, according to the religion and ration he should participate in the upcoming elections.
The IR Leader noted that presence of different candidates with different tastes in the elections is honor for the system and warned the supporters of candidates to avoid clashes so that the enemy would misuse their belief and ideals. He added that those who insist on clash and unrest, they are traitor and very negligent.
Addressing the four presidential hopefuls, Ayatollah Khamenei said,” It is not decent for a presidential hopeful to resort to slandering another candidate in a speech or a debate to prove himself.”
“I am not opposed to criticism and debate but all should try to do it in legal and religious framework. The people are full aware and understand well,” the IR Leader added.
Ayatollah Khamenei noted that difference of opinion is natural but the presidential hopefuls should perform in a brotherly way to do their tasks well.
“I have one single vote and no one knows my vote. I will never say to people to vote for certain candidates because the issue is among the nation’s affairs and belongs to it,” the IR Leader said.
Ayatollah Khamenei also called upon the masses to go to the polls in large numbers to thwart efforts aimed at portraying the elections as undemocratic, adding that all should work toward the protection of the Islamic Revolution.
Israel Fears Opposition Win in the Lebanese Elections
Once again Israel interferes in the Lebanese internal affairs warning against a “Hezbollah win” while the Lebanese voters are heading to polling stations in the unprecedented general elections in Lebanon’s history on Sunday.
Israeli ministers warned that a victory by Lebanese national opposition, including Hezbollah, in Lebanon’s elections would be a dangerous development for the region. “If Hezbollah wins the election, it will be very bad and will create another Iranian entity in the Middle East after Hamas,” said Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz, a member of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party.
“Iran is trying to take over Lebanon and that would be a very negative development,” he claimed. “The Iranian threat is gaining speed and obliges us, together with the moderate Arab states and the United States, to take action.”
Israeli Interior Minister Eli Yishai of the ultra-Orthodox Shas party said that if “Hezbollah’s alliance” wins, “Lebanon will become a terror state.” “We will have to think what we will do in such a situation, God forbid, once it happens,” he said.

He said that the candidates in Iran are free to conduct their election campaigns within the parameters of the Constitution.
“There was some tension in the Pak-Iran relations in the past but that doesn’t mean our relations were not friendly; there could be tension even between two brothers”, viewed Mahmood-ul-Hassan Butt.
He added that Iran is a major country of the region and the Afghanistan’s problems cannot be solved without the help of Iran.

US admits mistakes made in Afghanistan
A recent US probe confirms that Americans had been faulty in carrying out certain airstrikes in western Afghanistan in early May that killed 150 civilians. According to IRIB, citing an unnamed senior US military official, the report said that the US air force and ground troops had made serious mistakes when US war planes bombed suspected Taliban positions.
The report quoted the official as saying “American personnel made significant errors in carrying out some of the air strikes in western Afghanistan on May 4 that killed dozens of Afghan civilians”.
Nearly 150 civilians, including 95 children, were killed last month when US warplanes dropped bombs on two villages in the Bala Baluk district of the western province of Farah.
General Stanley McChrystal warned about the consequences of civilian deaths caused by US and NATO-led forces, saying “this may be the critical point.”
The deadly strikes also sparked days of protests in Kabul and other major cities across the violence-wracked Afghanistan.
Medics told Press TV that some of those wounded in the attack have unusual burns which could have been caused by the flesh-eating chemical — white phosphorus.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai has demanded a halt to Washington’s airstrikes in his country following the deadly incident.
Washington says it will not stop airstrikes in Afghanistan which have frequently led to civilian casualties across the war-ravaged country.

UN renews $543m appeal for Pakistan’s displaced persons
The United Nations Thursday renewed appeal for $543 million for its relief operation to help over two million persons displaced as the result of fighting between the security forces and militants. The Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Swat, Buner and Dir districts in the northwest are living in camps and in houses with relatives and common people.
UN Humanitarian coordinator Martin Mogwanja said at a news conference that the humanitarian community requires about 543 million dollars for its relief operation until the end of this year.
He said out of the total amount, twenty two percent have so far been received.
He warned that some relief organizations are in short of funding and they will have to scale down their relief operation in case the world community does not come up with the necessary support.
He said the UN is working in sync with the government for the humanitarian assistance of the displaced families to ensure that all their requirements are fulfilled.
He told the newsmen that the United Nations in collaboration with other partner relief organizations are working hard to provide relief to the displaced families presently settled in camps, temporarily shelters and with host families.
Two new camps have been established for the displaced persons in the last few days bringing the total to twenty one camps.

Kashmir valley in turmoil for 4th day
eneral strike and widespread violent protests continued for the fourth day in the Kashmir valley on Thursday after bodies of two Muslim women who were said to be raped and brutally killed by Indian soldiers were recently discovered in the region. The pro-freedom leaders vowed to intensify agitation for the withdrawal of Indian troops from Kashmir.
Violent clashes between demonstrators and armed police across capital Srinagar and other major towns left 100 injured on Wednesday alone.
Shopian town, in south of Kashmir, where the two women Neelofar Ahangar and Asiya Jan were raped and murdered erupted again after police refused to file First Information Report ( FIR) against the culprits four days after the incident.
Authorities in a vain bid to stem the protests arrested Hurriyat Conference leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani minutes before he was to announce the resistance programme with respect to the Shopian tragedy.
Geelani however extended the current strike till Friday, asking people to keep up the agitation till a total withdrawal of Indian troops from Kashmir.
The ailing separatist leader, who had been under house arrest for long, was however set free late in the night after protests escalated across the city and other places.
Authorities have imposed restrictions on public movement in several areas of the city and some sensitive towns, placing barricades on key routes and deploying thousands of police and paramilitary men.
Businesses remained shut and schools, banks and government offices closed for the fourth consecutive day and transport is still off the roads.
The police opened fire on protestors after tear gas and rubber bullets failed to quell protestors decrying the Shopian outrage.
One youth received gunshot wounds in the thigh and another was injured by rubber bullets both were rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
Aerial gunfire was resorted to in Batmalu area where the police and the paramilitary forces came under attack from violent crowds that were reported to have set on fire a paramilitary bunker and damaged several vehicles.
The Jahangir Chowk in central Srinagar also witnessed firing to quell violence.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who on Monday ordered a judicial probe into the deaths remained hurdled with top officials reviewing the situation.
His probe order has had little impact on the ground as rights groups here believe such probes rarely yield results and are often meant only to calm public anger.
Sensing the public mood, the main pro-India opposition in the state Assembly, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) too has joined the protests demanding settlement of Kashmir dispute and withdrawal of troops.
PDP President Mahbooba Mufti along with her party’s 14 MLAs marched to Shopian district Wednesday to express solidarity with the bereaved families.
Mufti however was greeted by massive pro-freedom groups who shout slogans upon her arrival in the town which had earlier voted for her party in the 2008 elections.
Mufti who managed to visit the victims’ families, had to face embarrassment at the hands of around 5,000 protestors including large number of women who shouted pro-independence and anti-India slogans.
The PDP president was taken hostage and was later allowed to move ahead after she agreed to follow the pro-freedom procession.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei entered the mausoleum of the Founder of the Islamic Republic in Tehran on Thursday to attend the mourning ceremony of the 20th anniversary of the demise of the late Imam Khomeini. More than 1.5 million senior Iranian officials and people from all walks of life along with foreign dignitaries have gathered at the mausoleum of the late Imam Khomeini to commemorate his tragic departure and also to renew their allegiance to his ideals.
The Supreme Leader was accompanied by Imam Khomeini’s grandson Hojjatoleslam Seyed Hassan Khomeini.
Ayatollah Khamenei is currently delivering a speech at Imam Khomeini’s mausoleum.
Imam Khomeini, an Eternal Figure
20 years have elapsed since the passing away of the founder of Islamic revolution but the name of Iran and the Islamic revolution have never been separated from that of Imam Khomeini(May his soul rest in peace). His enlightening and awakening movement has flourished day by day and his ideas have swept all over the world. Today on the 20th anniversary of Imam Khomeini’s departure from the mortal world his holy shrine is full of huge crowds which gather there to commemorate him and his high ideas. Today the attempts of Muslims in the remotest parts of the Islamic world have found momentum and the cries of people seeking Islam is heard even in European countries.
One can say that the great name of Imam Khomeini will never be wiped out of minds. He enlightened the dark path of Muslims and led the justice-seekers to the truth. Therefore, the Imam has been considered as the reviver of Muslims’ dignity and respect in the contemporary era. Whenever mention is made of defending oppressed nations, Imam Khomeini and his Islamic revolution are present.
Now the name of Khomeini is the cry of vigilance of the present generation. He introduced Islam as a path of life accompanied with respect and dignity in the present era. So his commemoration is tantamount to attaching value for rationality, religion and truth-seeking. May God bless the great architect of the Islamic Revolution.
According to the French magazine Le Message de l’Islam in an article named Imam Khomeini the figure of the century: “Some political theorists believe that every powerful leader has both periods of rise and fall, but the noteworthy point in Imam Khomeini’s leadership is his continued influence during the revolution, the victory of the revolution and even after his passing away.
Researchers of social sciences are amazed that although years have passed after Imam Khomeini’s passing away, his personality has remained so popular and sacred and the world Muslims still consider him the symbol of purity, piety, popularity, and bravery.
Imam Khomeini as an Islamic jurisprudent, God-seeking gnostic and a brave leader took step to reform the Iranian society and with the victory of the revolution he founded a system inspired by Islamic teachings. The system presented modern criteria and built a genuine culture based on human dignity. The Islamic Republic system of Iran is today known as a focal point to all nations.
What is particularly noticeable in Imam Khomeini’s movement lies in the fact that its values are comprehensive and beyond time limits. With his revolutionary move, the late Imam tried to bring back the human history to its main path so that finally, the nations can get rid of the yoke of despotic and tyrannical powers and step on the liberating path of Prophets.
According to Imam Khomeini, a government is sacred and valuable only when it leads the society to perfection and prosperity. This is possible only with the return to human principles. That is why during his life, the Imam never confined himself to the geographical boundaries and promoted a life accompanied with spirituality and remembrance of God. The American strategist Alvin Toffler says:”When Ayatollah Khomeini sent a message to the leader of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev, actually he sent a historic message to the world governments that many analysts were unable to analyze. The real content of the Imam’s message is the coming of a new era of the world sovereignty which should be studied by the westerners precisely. For, the Imam’s ideas can change the status of power of governments.”
Professor Hamid Mowlana of US Communications University believes that the mystery of Imam Khomeini’s triumph lied in his outstanding characteristics.
He says: “The role of Imam Khomeini in the vigilance of the world Muslims is unprecedented. I should confess that since the 15th century in the western world and perhaps after the advent of Islam I have never seen such a figure whose movement, thoughts and performance have such affected the world.”
Imam Khomeini did not fear the world powers and at the same time he changed the meaning of power at the world level. Prior to him, power was defined only on the basis of material sources and facilities, but in Imam Khomeini’s literature, power at the world level means power in ideas and thoughts. Imam Khomeini established a popular and lovely relationship with the world oppressed and with all people especially those of the Islamic countries. The Imam managed, more than any other leader, to convey the social and political messages of the holy Quran to the masses of people in simple language. His simple spiritual life made him quite qualified for the leadership of the oppressed. We have never seen such a simple life among the leaders of the world revolutions.
Ayatollah Khomeini is a thinker who put forward the theory of dignity and power of Muslims and the world oppressed. He urged many nations to turn to religious beliefs and enhanced their self-belief, self-confidence and independence-seeking. Whenever Imam Khomeini spoke of defense of human rights, he took into consideration the rights of all nations irrespective of their race, nation and religion. The Imam’s inviting all nations to defend human values and campaign against oppression led to his widespread popularity outside Iranian borders. Imam Khomeini addressing all oppressed nations said: “Take your right with all your might and never fear the hue and cry of the super powers and their agents.”
On Imam Khomeini’s characteristics, Ayatollah Khamenei says:
“Only one of the Imam’s characteristics was sufficient to make a great man of a person. The Imam was a wise, intelligent, and smart person with strong will and no one could hinder him from his path and at the same time he was very kind.”
The leader of the Islamic revolution adds: “Winning the hearts of the Muslim Ummah all over the world who despite different interests showed their company with the Imam was the result of his great sincerity. He spoke for God, acted for God and he was prepared to stay or move for God. His sincerity was the basic point of his life.”
Now many thinkers acknowledge that with the emergence of the Islamic revolution the wonderful capability of Islam for building civilization and the privileges of the Islamic beliefs have further revealed. Presently despite all destructive efforts of the enemies, Islam is regaining its main role in the international equations. May God bless Imam Khomeini and we ask the Almighty to help us properly continue his path which is the path of Islam and the holy Quran.

India conveys to Pakistan disappointment over release of JuD chief
India on Wednesday officially conveyed to Pakistan its disappointment over the release of Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief Hafeez Saeed, the alleged mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. The views were put forth by Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon when Pakistan’s High Commissioner Shahid Malik met him here.
Soon after Saeed’s release at the directive of Lahore High Court, India had said it demonstrated Pakistan’s lack of seriousness to fight terror and raised serious doubts about its commitment to probe the Mumbai attacks.
External Affairs Minister S M Krishna had termed regrettable the release of Saeed who has been part of terror outfits in Pakistan.
He had noted that Saeed had connections with Jamaat-ud-Dawa, an organization which has been declared terrorist organization by the United Nations Security Council.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram on Tuesday while slamming Pakistan over the release of Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Mohd Saeed, said, “It is a commentary on the commitment of Pakistan to investigate the perpetrators of the Mumbai attack.”
Chidambaram further said, “We are unhappy that Pakistan does not show the degree of seriousness and commitment that it should to bring to justice perpetrators of the Mumbai terror attack.”
He, however, underlined that the development will not cause any setback to India’s investigations into the attack.
Expressing ‘disappointment’ over the release of the chief of JuD, Lashkae-e-Taiba’s front organization, External Affairs Ministry spokesman Vishnu Prakash said, “It is regrettable that notwithstanding this background and the international obligations it entails on Pakistan, he has been released.”
He said Saeed’s release ‘raises serious doubts over Pakistan’s sincerity in acting with determination against terrorist groups and individuals operating from its territory’.
Saeed was put under house arrest on December 11 last year after the UN Security Council banned JuD, declaring it a front for Lashkar-e-Taiba, which is blamed by India for the November 26 Mumbai attacks.

Iran closes border point with Pakistan
QUETTA: Iranian authorities have closed the zero point along the Pak-Iran border following a bomb explosion in a mosque in the border city of Zahedan.
The closure of the zero point has resulted in suspension of bilateral trade and movement of the people. Zahedan is about 80 km from Taftan, a tiny town along the Pak-Iran border.People in the border areas of Pakistan and Iran are facing difficulties due to the closure of the zero point, as they bring items of daily use from Iran and Pakistan.
They demanded of the Pakistani authorities to find a permanent solution to the problem. — PPI Mariana Baabar adds from Islamabad: Pakistan says that it is with Iran in the fight against terrorism and there will be no compromise on this principle under any circumstances.
Responding to a query pertaining to the summoning of Pakistan’s Ambassador in Tehran, MB Abbasi, over the deadly attack on a mosque in southeast Iran, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told The News: “Iran is our brotherly country with which we have excellent relations anchored in common faith and interests. The two countries are together in the fight against terrorism and there will be no compromise in this regard under any circumstances.”
According to the Iranian media, rebels had reportedly claimed responsibility for the explosion. One cannot remember the last time that Iran had to summon a Pakistani ambassador and that too over such serious charges.
Of late, relations between Iran and Pakistan have been all time high and only recently the two, in total defiance of the US and some other western powers, also reached an understanding on the Peace Gas Pipeline project during President Asif Ali Zardari’s recent visit to Tehran.
Iran on Saturday publicly hung three men accused of involvement in the bombing of the mosque that killed 25 people, an official said, branding them “terrorists” and “enemies of God”.
The executions were carried out near the mosque in southeast Iran, which was devastated by Thursday’s bombing, said Hojatoeslam Ebrahim Hamidi, Justice Chief of Sistan-Balochistan province.
It is well known in all world capitals that Jundullah, also known as “Army of God”, “Allah’s Soldiers”, and “God’s Brigade”, as well as the Popular Iranian Resistance Movement, is a Suuni tribal militant group responsible for a series of deadly guerrilla raids inside Iran.
According to US media reports from the ABC News, it is made of members of the Balochi tribe and operates out of the Balochistan province in Pakistan, just across Iran’s border. In the past The News had published reports about this terrorist group, which had been ignored by the US and Pakistan.
These reports spoke of the State Department’s allocation of millions of dollars for a ‘regime’ change in Iran. Jundullah is accused of doing exactly that, though on Saturday Washington denied Tehran’s accusations that the US had backed the mosque attack.
Questions were also raised in the past when Iran started to build walls and fence off areas along the Pakistan border that Islamabad should not look away from the activities of Jundullah. However, Pakistan has always denied that such activities take place from its soil.
Even on Sunday, the spokesman made no mention of any feedback that the Foreign Office had received from its mission in Iran, and whether in the face of such serious accusations it was willing to look into its border areas with Iran. It is not a new development that a neighbour has eyed Pakistan with some suspicion.
Earlier this year, China, too, had sent two special envoys to Pakistan, who met with the political and military leadership, and brought to the notice of Pakistan that the headquarters of the separatist group, East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM), a militant Muslim separatist group based in the western Xinjiang province, had been set up in Fata.
