Governor of Punjab Salman Taseer Shot Dead in Islamabad
JNN 04 Jan 2011 : Governor of Punjab Salman Taseer was seriously injured in shooting at his car and succumbed to his injuries in hospital, a spokesman said.
Governor’s PRO Farrukh Shah said Salman Taseer was killed in assassination bid near his residence near Kohsar Market of Islamabad, JNN reported.
Governor Taseer was transferred to Polyclinic in Islamabad in serious condition but he succumbed to injuries.
An Elite Force Guard Named Malik Mumtaz Hussain Qadri has been arrested from the spot for attack. The man was posted for his security.
The assailant in his preliminary statement said that he had killed the governor after his statement about a blasphemy accused Aasia Bibi. He called the statement that Aasia Bibi has been innocent
