High rate of Joblessness in Ireland, youths suffer mental issues

JNN 31 Dec 2010 : Unemployment is tipped as the main cause behind increased mental health problems, including panic attack, self-harm, and depression in Northern Ireland, a new study says.

According to the study carried out by the Prince’s Trust, joblessness triggers mental health problems among almost half of the unemployed youths aged between 16 and 25, the daily Belfast Telegraph reported.

More than one fifth of the Northern Ireland youths have admitted to self-harming, one in three suffered from insomnia and one fifth of those interviewed said they had panic attacks, the study found.

The Macquarie Youth Index, which interviewed 2,170 people across the UK, found that 15 percent of youths in Northern Ireland feel depressed ‘all’ or ‘most’ of the time, while 63 percent of those working said their job was an important part of their identity.

“I was in the depths of despair and depression. It’s very isolating not to have work. You have no reason to get up in the morning and you feel like you have no purpose in life,” said Claire Conway from Omagh, who suffered from depression when she lost her job in 2002 at the age of 22.

“You block yourself off from friends, especially the people who are working,” she added.

This was the third annual report to be published by the Prince’s Trust and it recorded the most significant decline in young people’s emotional health.

“Unemployment presents a very real and frightening mental health problem for young people in Northern Ireland – and the longer they are out of work, the greater the risk,” said Ian Jeffers, director of the trust in Northern Ireland

Another bomb rocks Greek capital

JNN 31 Dec 2010 Athens : Greek police say a powerful blast outside a closed nightclub in Athens is the second attack in the past two days linked to criminal extortion groups.

The blast, which caused no injuries, occurred before 4 a.m. Friday near Athens City Center.

The explosion was so huge that it was heard across southern Athens and severely damaged the club’s frontage, AP reported.

Police say extortionists, who have carried out several similar attacks in recent years, are responsible for the attack.

On Thursday morning, another bomb exploded outside a court in Athens City Center after an anonymous phone threat gave police the chance to evacuate the area.

The blast, which occurred 40 minutes after a warning to a newspaper and private TV station, gave authorities time to evacuate nearby buildings.

According to reports, the explosive device had been placed on a motorbike in front of the building.

The blast damaged two administrative court buildings in central Athens, shattered windows and damaged cars and sent up a cloud of smoke that was visible across the city.

Number of homeless to double in Britain

JNN 31 Dec 2010 : A coalition of charities has warned that homelessness will soar across Britain after the coalition government enforced housing benefit cuts.

Seventeen charities said the government’s cuts to housing benefits could double the number of people sleeping on the streets within a year, British media reported.

The government announced, as part of its public spending review plan, it will no longer pay for 25-34 year-olds from 2012 to live in a one-bedroom flat, but it could instead only cover the costs of a room in a shared property.

According to the government’s own figures, the reform will see 88,000 people lose an average of £47 a week with many whose benefits will be halved.

The coalition of charities said in a statement last month that the number of the “visibly homeless people” could surge unless the government reverses its plan to cut welfare.

“Vulnerable people who have been homeless, are leaving care or prison … sharing is often inappropriate and can be particularly detrimental to well being”, said the statement.

“We have about 8,000 rough sleepers in the country and the government’s reforms could easily put another 8,000 on the streets,” said Howard Sinclair, the chief executive of the homeless charity Broadway and a signatory to the letter.

The problem is that local authorities have no legal duty to help house young single people. “They do not have family, no real social networks … they are outsiders and they will have nowhere but the streets to go,” he said.

London, where roughly half of the country’s rough sleepers live, has seen a rise in homelessness in recent years as the financial crisis hit.

'Most Americans oppose Afghan war'

JNN 31 Dec 2010 : A new opinion poll has found that opposition to the Afghan war is at an all-time high in the US as security situation continues to worsen in Afghanistan.

A new CNN/Opinion Research poll (PDF) released on Thursday shows that more than sixty percent Americans are now opposed to the war in Afghanistan.

There is also a growing pessimism in the American public about the way things are going for the US in the war, the poll suggests.

In response to a question on how “things are going” in the warzone 56 percent responded with “moderately badly” or “very badly.”

The US President Barack Obama ordered the deployment of 30,000 additional soldiers in Afghanistan about a year ago.

However, security situation continued to deteriorate across the war-ravaged country in 2010 — the deadliest year for foreign presence in Afghanistan.

The total death toll of US-led troops has surpassed the 700 milestone, with the Americans accounting for most of the casualties.

In the review of his war strategy in Afghanistan this month, Obama declared that the war “continues to be a very difficult endeavor” and the achievements made there are “fragile and reversible.”

Obama had pledged a major drawdown from Afghanistan by July 2011. However, Washington later announced that American troops will remain in the war-torn country for at least four more years.

The 2001 US-led invasion was launched with the objective of bringing peace and stability to Afghanistan.

After nine years and despite the presence of over 150,000 US-led troops across Afghanistan, the country’s security remains very fragile.

Moreover, according to the United Nations, the death toll of Afghan civilians this year is 20 percent higher than in 2009, with over 2,400 civilians killed in the country from January to September.

Mecca flash floods claim four lives

JNN 31 Dec 2o10 : At least four people, including three children, have died in flash flooding around the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, reports indicate.

Local officials say at least 200 people have so far been rescued from the flooding caused by heavy rains.

In Jeddah, the country’s second largest city, several major roads were inundated and traffic came to a virtual halt after dozens of cars broke down.

Authorities said the Jeddah flooding caused no casualties, but many residents found their homes overwhelmed by high water, which in some districts was reported knee-high and in others as high as the waist.

Jeddah was hit by another major flood last November which killed 123 people and caused extensive damage.

According to official figures, thousands of families lost their homes in that flood, which destroyed nearly 11,000 buildings and as many vehicles.

Another wave of Terror and Killing against Shia's of Pakistan

JNN 30 Dec 2010 Peshawar : In the early hours of day , Safdar Abbas son of Capt(R) Asghar Abbas embraced martrydom when he was Targetted and Shot while he was on his way to his office .

He was the Member of the Moharram Committe and Chief Coordinator of Imamia Scouts of Peshawar Division.

He was an employ of a Private Bank ( UBL ) located in Qisa Khwani Bazar, while Qisa Khwani Bazar is already a sensitive area , as  two suicide Blast have already been done in the vicinity of this area , which shows that terrorist are operating freely in this area, and they have a strong network in and around this area, while the intelligence agencies have all the time to take rest and enjoy , while the country bleeds and especially the Shia community , which has  sacrificed the real  gems of their garden , just for this Nation.

Even after that the Organisation like Sipah e Sahaba Pakistan, Tehrik e Taliban Pakistan, Lashkar e Jhangvi , Jundullah, Jaish e Mohd which have been banned after being Proved to be terrorist outfits , which are causing destruction and dis Integration to Pakistan and defaming Islam , on the orders of their Zionist Masters.

Now it is only a Big question for Pakistani Law Enforcement Agencies that even after all the proves and track record of these organisation , nothing much is being done to Nab them or to stop them from establishing and strengthening  their network , or even to keep a tight check on their flow of funds , which is been now also confirmed that Saudi Arabia and UAE are sponsoring these terrorist organisations, against the Interest of Pakistan.

Once again after Ashura Moharram these Terrorists have started to break the barriers , as they were leashed during the Ashra e Muharram , and No untoward incident was reported in the past during these days , which is showing the clear negligence of the law enforcement agencies , as if they can leash these terrorists during the Ashra e Muharram, so if they really want they can leash them for ever , but due to there criminal negligence , Shia Community is paying a high cost by sacrificing their lives .

Above all the Intelligence Agencies and the Law enforcement agencies Instead of nabbing these criminals and Killers , have started to abduct Innocent Shia Youth from different areas of Karachi , and have confined them illegally , with out reporting their arrest or submitting their challan in any court of Law, which shows their tilt towards criminals and terrorists , as they will be responsible for any Law & order situation , if these unlawful acts continues.

Halal Food and Goods Demand Open New Opportunities for People in Western Countries

JNN 29 Dec 2010 : In the ballroom of an upscale hotel a short train ride from New York, advertisers, food industry executives and market researchers mingled — the men in dark suits, the women in headscarves and Western dress. Chocolates made according to Islamic dietary laws were placed at each table.

The setting was the American Muslim Consumer Conference, which aimed to promote Muslims as a new market segment for U.S. companies. While corporations have long catered to Muslim communities in Europe, businesses have only tentatively started to follow suit in the U.S. — and they are doing so at a time of intensified anti-Muslim feeling that companies worry could hurt them, too. American Muslims seeking more acknowledgment in the marketplace argue that businesses have more to gain than lose by reaching out to the community.

“We are not saying, ‘Support us,'” said Faisal Masood, a graduate of the University of Illinois, Chicago, and management consultant. “But we want them to understand what our values are.”

There are signs the industry is stirring: Faisal Masood, a Wall Street executive who organized the gathering, had attracted only 200 or so attendees when he started the event last year. This year, he had to close registration at 400 to keep from going over capacity.

The worldwide market for Islamically permitted goods, called halal, has grown to more than half a billion dollars annually. Ritually slaughtered meat is a mainstay, but the halal industry is much broader, including foods and seasoning that omit alcohol, pork products and other forbidden ingredients, along with cosmetics, finance and clothing.

Corporations have been courting immigrant Muslim communities in Europe for several years. Nestle, for example, has about 20 factories in Europe with halal-certified production lines and advertises to Western Muslims through its marketing campaign called “Taste of Home.” Nestle plans to increase its ethnic and halal offerings in Europe in coming years.

In the United States, iconic American companies such as McDonald’s (which already has a popular halal menu overseas) and Wal-Mart have entered the halal arena. In August, the natural grocery giant Whole Foods began selling its first nationally distributed halal food product — frozen Indian entrees called Saffron Road.

Abdalhamid Evans, project director with the World Halal Forum Europe, which works with the global halal industry, said a recent backlash has prompted some mainstream businesses in Europe to keep a lower profile about their halal products or scale back their offerings.

In the U.K., after Kentucky Fried Chicken rolled out halal menu options in several dozen stores, the restaurant chain pulled the items in a few locations in the face of protests.

Last September, the Daily Mail of London reported that many British supermarkets, fast-food chains, hospitals, schools, pubs and sporting arenas such as Wembley Stadium, were serving some halal meat and poultry without notifying the public. A large share of meat sold in Britain comes from New Zealand, where the slaughterhouses have expanded halal production as they try to boost their already robust exports to Islamic countries.

U.S. companies have also faced some resistance, although on a smaller scale.

Last year, Best Buy Inc. was inundated with calls, e-mails and letters complaining that the company was anti-American after acknowledging a Muslim holiday — “Eid al-Adha,” or the Feast of the Sacrifice — for the first time in a national advertisement. That year, Eid al-Adha fell around Thanksgiving, so the ad, a small bubble at the bottom of the page, appeared in the company’s Thanksgiving flier. Critics seized on the timing in their complaints.

“They used very abusive language,” said Nausheena Hussain, a marketing manager for Best Buy in Minnesota. “It was pretty sad.”

Best Buy executives stood by their decision. The company saw the holiday greeting as part of a larger goal of reaching consumers from different cultures. Soon, Muslims started calling to thank Best Buy and set up a Facebook page honoring the company, which continues to acknowledge Muslim holidays.

“It’s a very viable customer segment,” said Zainab Ali, senior marketing manager with the money transfer company MoneyGram, which ran a special Ramadan promotion this year for Muslims in the U.S., Europe and elsewhere. “You just need to get over some of the fear and look at them as just another consumer.”

The potential for profit is drawing more companies to the idea.

This year, Ogilvy & Mather, the global advertising firm, started an international Islamic branding consultancy called Ogilvy Noor that includes an emphasis on U.S. Muslims. (“Noor” means “light” in Arabic.) Muslims came to the United States in large numbers for doctorates, engineering and medical degrees, after the federal government eased immigration quotas in the 1960s. Studies have found that a significant percentage of Muslims are better educated and wealthier than other Americans.

Joohi Tahir, vice president of marketing and sales for Crescent Foods, the halal chicken producers based in Chicago, said Wal-Mart executives approached Crescent Foods two years ago looking for a halal chicken supplier, then invited Crescent executives to Wal-Mart headquarters in Arkansas to advise them on reaching Muslim consumers.

That same year, Wal-Mart opened a supercenter in Dearborn, Mich., an area with one of the largest Muslim and Arab populations in the country. The store is geared for Mideast consumers, with a range of halal products, including specialty foods.

“Mainstream is coming to halal,” Tahir said.

Wal-Mart spokesman Bill Wertz said the merchandise in each store can vary according to the needs of the surrounding community, so it is difficult to know the exact number of U.S. stores that carry halal products. But several in Michigan and at least one store in Canada have advertised that they offer some halal items.

Manufacturers entering the field hope they can appeal to non-Muslims as well.

Jack Acree, executive vice president of American Halal Co., which produces the Saffron Road products, emphasizes that the entrees are not only halal, but also all-natural and humanely farmed, and free of antibiotics and hormones.

“Muslims are highly educated and live in metro areas, and they’re shopping with us already,” said Errol Schweizer, senior global grocery coordinator for Whole Foods. “If we have a customer base where there’s a big Muslim population, it makes sense for us to service that population.”

Schweizer would not answer directly when asked if anyone complained to the company over its Muslim outreach. He said only that halal foods will be judged like any other products — by whether the items sell.

Despite the sometimes unfriendly climate for Muslims, Evans, of the World Halal Forum, said it is inevitable that a large number of businesses will reach out Muslim consumers, given the wealth and size of the Muslim population — more than a billion people worldwide — and their presence in the West.

“It isn’t a question of whether they’re going to do it,” Evans said. “It’s a question of where and when and how.”

Saudi Shia and Sunni Muslims Sign a Document of Reconciliation After the Events of Ashura

JNN 29 Dec 2010 : Saudi Shia and Sunni figures in Medina signed a document to “live as one family”, a week after the clashes that took place between the parties on Ashura.

Hundreds of radical Wahhabis from Al-Ansar attacked with sticks and stones to the Shia citizens when mourning for Imam Hussain (A.S) in Ashura in Quba district on last Thursday, which many Shias arrested.

According to Rassid news network, the paper was inked yesterday, December 25, under the title of “Peaceful Co-existence like a Single Family” following a strife caused by a group of Wahabi extremists on the day of Ashura.

Expressing his deep regret for the event, Abdul-Aziz ibn Majid referred to Islam as a comprehensive religion that is against creating discord or forming various religious sects.

Warning those who intrude social order and security, he urged all Shia and Sunni thinkers to dispel the existing bilateral tensions by holding a joint seminar in Saudi Arabia.

The document was the first reconciliation paper inked between the Shia and Sunni. At the signing ceremony some 200 top Shia and Sunni figures and a number of Suadi Arabia’s officials including Taher Al-Hajuj, Saleh al-Jodan, Feysal Aburabae and Solemian Al-saedi were present.

On this year’s day of Ashura in the holy city of Medina, the Shia mourners were attacked by a group of Wahabi extremists. The strife led to some injuries and damages, and was finally stopped by the security forces who arrested 50 individuals

Malaysia Shiites Protest at Discrimination and Arrests

JNN 28 Dec 2010  : A Malaysian Shiite leader Tuesday protested at discrimination against the sect’s followers after the detention of 200 members by religious officials who claim they breached local Islamic laws.

Shiite community leader Kamil Zuhairi Abdul Aziz said the group had submitted a protest letter to the national human rights commission (Suhakam) after a recent raid of their prayer hall by state religious officers.

“The officers broke into and damaged our prayer hall which is private property and where we were having special prayers for the Prophet Mohammed’s grandchildren,” he said.

“If other communities like Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, Sikhs and others have their right to worship and practise under the constitution then why not us,” Kamil Zuhairi added.

“We were condemned, criticised, slandered and threatened in local media just because we practise what had been preached by our ancestors who were Shiites and have lived in Malaysia for centuries.”

Kamil Zuhairi said there were about 40,000 Shiite followers in Malaysia but most practised their faith behind closed doors for fear of being stigmatised and targeted by the authorities.

A state Islamic religious department official, who declined to be named, said the detainees, who include Pakistanis, Iranians and Indonesians, had been released on bail.

He said investigations were still ongoing and that the group could be charged for not following Sunni Islam, considered the only legal sect of Islam in Malaysia.

Shiites make up around 15 percent of Muslims worldwide. They represent the majority populations in Iraq, Iran and Bahrain and form significant communities in Afghanistan, Lebanon, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

Shiites believe the Prophet Mohammed should have been succeeded by his cousin Imam Ali (A.S) rather than his companion Abu Bakr. Traditional Sunnis believe any suggestion that Abu Bakr was a usurper is tantamount to blasphemy.

The Shiites are one of several Islamic sects under close watch by Malaysian religious authorities, which crack down hard on so-called deviant groups that deviate from orthodox teachings.

US seizes and shut over 75 websites

JNN 28 Dec 2010 : It is almost too perfectly-scripted to be true. A discontented 22-year old US Army soldier on duty in Baghdad, Bradley Manning, a low-grade US Army intelligence analyst, described as a loner, a gay in the military, a disgruntled “computer geek,” sifts through classified information at Forward Operating Base Hammer. He decides to secretly download US State Department email communications from the entire world over a period of eight months for hours a day, onto his blank CDs while pretending to be listening to Lady Gaga. In addition to diplomatic cables, Manning is believed to have provided WikiLeaks with helicopter gun camera video of an errant US attack in Baghdad on unarmed journalists, and with war logs from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Manning then is supposed to have tracked down a notorious former US computer hacker to get his 250,000 pages of classified US State Department cables out in the Internet for the whole world to see. He allegedly told the US hacker that the documents he had contained “incredible, awful things that belonged in the public domain and not on some server stored in a dark room in Washington, DC.” The hacker turned him in to US authorities so the story goes. Manning is now incommunicado since months in US military confinement so we cannot ask him, conveniently. The Pentagon routinely hires the best hackers to design their security systems.
Then the plot thickens. The 250,000 pages end up at the desk of Julian Assange, the 39-year-old Australian founder of a supposedly anti-establishment website with the cute name Wikileaks. Assange decides to selectively choose several of the world’s most ultra-establishment news media to exclusively handle the leaking job for him as he seems to be on the run from Interpol, not for leaking classified information, but for allegedly having consensual sex with two Swedish women who later decided it was rape.
He selects as exclusive newspapers to decide what is to be leaked the New York Times which did such service in promoting faked propaganda against Saddam that led to the Iraqi war, the London Guardian and Der Spiegel. Assange claims he had no time to sift through so many pages so handed them to the trusted editors of the establishment media for them to decide what should be released. Very “anti-establishment” that. The New York Times even assigned one of its top people, David E. Sanger, to control the release of the Wikileaks material. Sanger is no establishment outsider. He sits as a member of the elite Council on Foreign Relations as well as the Aspen Institute Strategy Group together with the likes of Condi Rice, former Defense Secretary William Perry, former CIA head John Deutch, former State Department Deputy Secretary and now World Bank head Robert Zoellick among others.
Indeed a strange choice of media for a person who claims to be anti-establishment. But then Assange also says he believes the US Government version of 9/11 and calls the Bilderberg Group a normal meeting of people, a very establishment view.
    Not so secret cables…
The latest sensational Wikileaks documents allegedly from the US State Department embassies around the world to Washington are definitely not as Hillary Clinton claimed “an attack on America’s foreign policy interests that have endangered innocent people.” And they do not amount to what the Italian foreign minister, called the “September 11 of world diplomacy.” The British government calls them a threat to national security and an aide to Canada’s Prime Minister calls on the CIA to assassinate Assange, as does kooky would-be US Presidential hopeful Sarah Palin.
Most important, the 250,000 cables are not “top secret” as we might have thought. Between two and three million US Government employees are cleared to see this level of “secret” document,[1] and some 500,000 people around the world have access to the Secret Internet Protocol Network (SIPRnet) where the cables were stored. Siprnet is not recommended for distribution of top-secret information. Only 6% or 15,000 pages of the documents have been classified as even secret, a level below top-secret. Another 40% were the lowest level, “confidential”, while the rest were unclassified. In brief, it was not all that secret.[2]
Most of the revelations so far have been unspectacular. In Germany the revelations led to the removal of a prominent young FDP politician close to Guido Westerwelle who apparently liked to talk too much to his counterpart at the US Embassy. The revelations about Russian politics, that a US Embassy official refers to Putin and Medvedev as “Batman and Robin,” tells more about the cultural level of current US State Department personnel than it does about internal Russian politics.
But for anyone who has studied the craft of intelligence and of disinformation, a clear pattern emerges in the Wikileaks drama. The focus is put on select US geopolitical targets, appearing as Hillary Clinton put it “to justify US sanctions against Iran.” They claim North Korea with China’s granting of free passage to Korean ships despite US State Department pleas, send dangerous missiles to Iran. Saudi Arabia’s ailing King Abdullah reportedly called Iran’s President a Hitler.
    Excuse to police the Internet?
What is emerging from all the sound and Wikileaks fury in Washington is that the entire scandal is serving to advance a long-standing Obama and Bush agenda of policing the until-now free Internet. Already the US Government has shut the Wikileaks server in the United States though no identifiable US law has been broken.
The process of policing the Web was well underway before the current leaks scandal. In 2009 Democratic Senator Jay Rockefeller and Republican Olympia Snowe introduced the Cybersecurity Act of 2009 (S.773). It would give the President unlimited power to disconnect private-sector computers from the internet. The bill “would allow the president to ‘declare a cyber-security emergency’ relating to ‘non-governmental’ computer networks and do what’s necessary to respond to the threat.” We can expect that now this controversial piece of legislation will get top priority when a new Republican House and the Senate convene in January.
The US Department of Homeland Security, an agency created in the political hysteria following 9/11 2001 that has been compared to the Gestapo, has already begun policing the Internet. They are quietly seizing and shutting down internet websites (web domains) without due process or a proper trial. DHS simply seizes web domains that it wants to and posts an ominous “Department of Justice” logo on the web site. See an example at http://torrent-finder.com. Over 75 websites were seized and shut in a recent week. Right now, their focus is websites that they claim “violate copyrights,” yet the torrent-finder.com website that was seized by DHS contained no copyrighted content whatsoever. It was merely a search engine website that linked to destinations where people could access copyrighted content. Step by careful step freedom of speech can be taken away.

Oil prices highest in two years, pushing closer to $100

JNN 28 Dec 2010 : Global oil prices are pushing closer to $100 a barrel as the cold weather around the world has raised demand.

Benchmark Brent crude closed 48 cents down at more than $93 on Friday after hitting nearly $95 earlier in the day, the highest level since October 2008.

The rally in Brent crude is partly due to the severe cold snap in Europe, with more freezing temperatures and snow predicted in parts of Europe over the weekend expected to boost fuel demand.

Meanwhile, a group of OPEC ministers is scheduled to meet in Egypt this weekend to discuss oil production and prices, but analysts predict more gains for oil prices in the coming week.

“The reality is that the growth of emerging markets is driving up oil prices, but oil prices are not restraining emerging economies in any significant way,” Reuters quoted Sara Johnson, senior research director of global economics at IHS Global Insights in Lexington, Massachusetts, as saying.

Higher prices can reduce demand and boost production costs, but the impact will not be that great as many countries have fuel subsidies, which ease manufacturing, transportation, and consumer costs, she stated.

Solar-powered plane breaks all previous world records

JNN 28 Dec 2010 : A solar-powered aircraft breaks the world record for the longest time spent in the air after flying aloft for fourteen days.

A solar-powered pilotless plane which was built in the UK has been recognized as having smashed the world record for the longest time spent in the air by an unmanned autonomous vehicle (UAV) after staying aloft for two weeks, reported The Independent on its website.

The record-breaking flight took place in July over the US and has now been ratified by the Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI), which governs air sports records.

The 50kg craft remained airborne for 14 days, 22 minutes and 8 seconds — 11 times longer than the previous record.

Potential uses for the aircraft, which is built by defense technology company Qinetiq, include the long-distance tracking of hijacked ships and aerial monitoring of forest fires.

Chris Kelleher, chief designer, said: “This aircraft can help track pirates off the Horn of Africa and also ensure that soldiers’ communications remain unaffected when fighting in mountainous or hilly terrain.”

Solar panels power the aircraft and charge lithium batteries which keep it flying at night.

    Saudia Arabia's future Unknown

JNN 28 Dec 2010 : Rex mortuus est, vivat rex! The king is dead; long live the king! For thousands of years, in monarchies across the globe, that phrase has heralded the end of one era and the beginning of another.

It is difficult for people in democracies, who elect a new chief executive every few years, to appreciate the true import of those words. But in Saudi Arabia, one of the world’s few remaining absolute monarchies, a new king is in the process of being ushered into office while his predecessor remains very much alive. And despite the ambiguity of the situation, whoever eventually occupies the Saudi throne will dramatically affect not only the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), but the entire Mideast.

In order to fully grasp the situation, we must first understand the Saudi system of succession, which is somewhat different from that of most monarchies. Many of us are familiar with the law of primogeniture, on which the succession of most monarchs is based. According to that law, when a king dies, his eldest son inherits the throne and if that son dies without issue, the king’s next oldest son inherits and so forth.

The Saudi monarchy, however, operates in a different manner. In the Kingdom, the order of succession (which is determined within and by the House of Saud), has been, so far, limited to the sons of the dynasty’s original founder, Abdul Aziz ibn Saud, who established the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1932. Since his death in 1953, five of his sons, Saud, Faisal, Khalid, Fahd and Abdullah have, in turn, occupied the throne. Thus, to date, no one but Ibn Saud and his sons has yet been king.

Upon the death of King Fahd and the ascension to the throne of the present monarch, King Abdullah (in 2005), their younger brother, Sultan became heir apparent or crown prince. At 82 years of age, Prince Sultan is not much younger than the 86-year-old king. And considering the fact that the prince is believed to be suffering from cancer (in 2004 he was diagnosed with colon cancer), there is no guarantee that he will ever rule.

Of Abdul Aziz’s many sons, 20 are still alive, so King Abdullah and Prince Sultan have 18 brothers. Most of them, however, are either too old to rule, or lack the experience to do so, which leaves only two brothers, who are considered eligible. They are 77-year-old Nayef and 71-year-old Salman.

And that brings us to the controversy surrounding Prince Nayef. As the second in line after the ailing crown prince, Nayef, who now serves as Second Deputy Prime Minister (and since 1975, as Minister of the Interior), is believed by many to be the one, who will eventually occupy the Saudi throne. But unlike the moderate Abdullah, Nayef is known to be a pro-Wahhabist and one of the most conservative members of the royal family – which has given many of the more tolerant elements in the Mideast cause for worry.

In fact, according to a 2003 New York Times article, the Minister of the Interior’s promotion of extremist elements in the past was sufficiently extensive to sound the alarm in Washington and prompt US Senator Charles E. Schumer (Democrat of New York) to write a letter to then Saudi Ambassador to the United States, Prince Bandar, asking that Nayef be removed from office due to his “well-documented history of suborning terrorist financing and ignoring the evidence when it comes to investigating terrorist attacks on Americans.”

If those, in the inner political circles are to be believed, the ‘leopard has not changed his spots.’ As a diplomat, well-acquainted with the inner workings of the Kingdom, who preferred (for obvious reasons) to remain anonymous, recently observed, “He (Nayef) is a conservative who will give more rope to the religious establishment than any of his brothers would,” which, if true, bodes ill for internal reforms and foreign relations, alike.

Moreover, Abdullah’s ongoing reforms aimed at solving the country’s unemployment problems and curbing extremism by improving education, making it easier for women to work and retraining sharia judges, will probably be abandoned.

Those reform programs appear to have already given the economy a jump-start. According to an article on the NASDAQ website, they have “opened up sectors of the economy previously barred to private investors, led to the privatization of some big state companies and included development of the capital markets.”

Such improvements will most likely be stopped in their tracks if Nayef becomes king, because the prince has, since his appointment as interior minister, 35 years ago, gained a reputation for maintaining close ties with Wahhabists (a powerful group of religious extremists), who are strongly opposed to such changes. And as author Steffen Hertog, who wrote a book about Saudi internal politics, titledPrinces, Brokers and Bureaucrats, pointed out, Nayef has already obstructed some (economic) reforms in his role as Interior Minister.

Nevertheless, there is little doubt that he will be the next king. “It looks more plausible than not that Nayef will become the crown prince after Abdullah dies and he is already taking more control in the day-to-day running of the kingdom,” Hertog observed.

Institute for (Persian) Gulf Affairs (IGA) Director, Ali al-Ahmad, agrees. In a recent interview with Press TV, he said, “It is true that a name, Crown Prince Sultan, for example, is in Riyadh, but he is not meeting people and he is not issuing policy.”

“It is the third man, Nayef, who is traveling and attending Arab Countries’ on the (Persian) Gulf meetings … He is the one, who is issuing policy and orders.”

The official went on to explain that Abdullah, due to his age and infirmities (caused by his recent surgery), is out of the picture, and there are strong doubts as to whether Sultan, who is also elderly and suffers from poor health, will ever ascend the throne. So that leaves Nayef, who is actually running the country. Ahmed went on to say that he believes the prince will use the present circumstances to “spread his power and influence to make sure that he becomes the king of Saudi Arabia,” possibly, within a matter of months.

But what will happen when – and if – this pro-Wahhabi prince actually does become king?

Well, firstly, it will probably help strengthen the monarchy and the House of Saud among conservative Saudi elements. Within the past decades, the royal family has, on various occasions, drawn criticism from Sunni conservatives – not only for the excess of some of its members, but for attempts by several of its monarchs to introduce modernization and tolerance.

Therefore, since much of the dynasty’s raison d’etre stems from its affiliation with Wahhabism and its role as the guardian of Sunni orthodoxy, a conservative, pro-Wahhabi king would, in the eyes of many Saudis, exonerate the House of Saud and entrench it more firmly than ever.

At the same time, Nayef at the governmental helm would only serve to dash the hopes of both the country’s women and its Shia population. Shias, a long-suppressed minority in Saudi Arabia, could most likely anticipate further suppression – possibly to the point of persecution. And this treatment would be based on the prevalent political climate at a given time. If the Kingdom were embroiled in a conflict with Shias in another country, Shias in Saudi Arabia would probably feel the effects in a new wave of suppression and/or persecution.

As far as Saudi women are concerned, the meager gains they have made du

ring Abdullah’s reign would most likely be forfeited. What else could they expect from a ruler, who, according to The Washington Institute for Near East Policy (a US think tank), publicly stated a month after King Abdullah’s announced appointment of the first female deputy minister, that he saw no need for either elections or female members of parliament?

It might be mentioned at this point that Saudi Arabia, as an absolute monarchy, does not even possess a parliament. Instead it has a consultative ‘Shura Council,’ which is made up of exclusively male members appointed by the king. And the closest thing the Kingdom has ever had to elections, was a series of limited polls (for male participants, only), held in 2005 for some municipal councils.

An ultra-conservative on the throne of the world’s biggest oil producer will also undoubtedly affect the country’s foreign relations, which will be felt first – and most strongly – throughout the already precarious Middle East. For starters, we can probably anticipate further Saudi interference in Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen, three countries, in which Shias have gained a foothold.

On the other hand, there is a possibility that none of these scenarios will pan out. Despite Nayef’s hard-line reputation, historians say that Saudi leaders have always been pragmatists in their actual dealings, giving stability priority over ideology.

And according to Hertog, Nayef’s conservatism is overstated. “As king you have to take different policy positions than as interior minister,” the expert said, “because you have a different constituency.” He went on to explain that Nayef’s opposition to reform “might have been due to security concerns and bureaucratic infighting rather than an ideological dispute.”

There is a basis for such reasoning. Saudi Arabia is vulnerable security-wise, as assassinations and terrorist attempts in the past have demonstrated. And the rivalry and rifts within the royal family are well-known.

So what will actually happen when Saudi Arabia gains a new king? We can only guess.

Shian e Haider e Karrar sign of Pakistan's Integeration

JNN 26 Dec : The Shia Community which has been targeted killed tortured and victimized since last 1400 years by the tyrant rulers , and at present  specially in Pakistan  for the last 30 years , the community is facing hardships of Target Killing , Bomb Blasts & Suicide attacks on them , which was the result of the Government sponsored Terrorist Organisations like Sipah e Sahaba, Tehrik e Taliban, Lashkar e Jhangvi, Jundullah, Lashkar e Taiba, Jaish e Mohd and others, which were created by the Most Elite agencies of Pakistan , funded by Saudia Arabia , and other Wahabi states of the Middle Eastern Countries, and was planned by American and western Countries , To malign the Integerity of Muslims and to defame Islam, as it is the Highly growing religion of the world  and Muslims have become the most Powerful Nations of the world, as the Iranian Revolution which has taken the Muslims of the world by surprise and its Positive effects can be  felt around the World .

And Due to successes of the Irani Revolution and its popularity in the masses World and specially in the Muslim World , Americans and its European allies were afraid of a new power rising in the Most Prosperous region of the World , which is Rich in resources and Infra Structure and as also holds the 80% of the World resources , So a Evil game was planned to Divide and rule the World , and the cunning Perpetrators of this Evil plan , planned in such a way that they can execute there Plan , without investing a single penny in it , by using even the Money and the Men also of the same region, so they can save there Men and Money both , which will be an all Win Win situation for them .

So in this Regard Saudi Wahabi Dictators  who were already  illegally  usurped the powers and were ruling by crushing there own poor shia population , which are the real in habitants of the oil rich area’s of Saudi Arabia , so they were threatened by the US administration , and shown the picture , of there evil doings that , as the Irani Revolution is sweeping the region by storm , and as the Irani revolution is led by Shia sect of the Muslims , so if they do not fund the US plan to counter the Irani Revolution , then there Monarchy may even be wound up , as if this revolution goes ahead , then it may reach there land also , and as a result of this , Saudi Arabia funded the American Plan heavily , as they were well aware of there evil doings , and usurpation of the just rights of the local People . The same Plan was kept infront of the other Monarchies of the region like UAE, and others , and they all agreed to the American game Plan , and even funded the plan very heavily, and thus as a result of all this plan , a Pakistani local tribal belt was targeted to fund and raise the mercenaries in the name of Islam , and as the fund were given by the Wahabi Saudi Ruler and their allies UAE rulers , who were Basically all Wahabi fundamentalist, so this New mercenaries force namely Taliban was created , which has the only agenda on there list to Protect the Interest of there American Masters and there Saudi Fund Raisers .

As a result of that they started their Hatred Mission against Irani Revolution, and as it was hard for them to counter Iran , so they started Harrasing and Killing Irani sympathizer  , and the Main victim of that was Shia Population of Pakistan , as they belong to the same sect of Iran , and they were also the sympathizer of the Irani Revolution. This Killing was not even countered by any Law enforcement agency of Pakistan, rather this band of terrorist was patronized by the official and Establishment of the country , as the Head of the state Gen Zia ul Haq , who was enjoying  all the privileges of this war , which was on the Home ground , and all the Funds were flowing through him , and he was the one who was controlling the Flow of funds , with an option to utilize and personalize , as much as he wants for him self, and with in his reign , He even ditched the Establishment and the Armed forces of Pakistan, who became the part and parcel of his plan.

All the Evil plans end up with disasters and are never beneficial for any body , even the Devil know that his all plans and all his misdoing will still lead him to hell and not heaven , so he wants to take the most population of this world with him in revenge of his own catastrophe.

So the same went here the people who dug a hole for  others , have now fallen themselves in the same hole , The Taliban who were created and funded to counter the Iran and its revolution, are now the biggest threat for the survival of Pakistan itself , They are still being heavily funded by the same Wahabi Saudi and UAE Rulers , But their leash is in the hands of Americans directly , and not in the hands of Pakistani Armed forces, as now they are even openly challenging there previous Masters and trainers , and encountering them at all levels. The Attack at GHQ Rawalpindi , Attack at Parade Lane Mosque In Islamabad, Several other Military and sensitive Installations and offices of the Law enforcement agencies  shows the clearly the intentions and Motives of Pakistan , while in these terrorists Organisation in their statements openly claim that they are working for the disintegration of Pakistan.

The Present Top Brass of the Armed Forces should take some urgent and corrective measures to save Pakistan . Because if they still act Naive like their predecessors then they should be ready to be Hanged in Public , as if these terrorist win they will do it , as written in the books of history, Or by chance if  the People of Pakistan rise and shine to sacrifice their lives in the line of duty to clear this mess of terrorism , and start encountering and send these terrorist to their Homeland in hell  , then even this Public and the Masses of Pakistan will even do the same , for the negligence and corruption done by them.

So Now each and every loyal citizen of Pakistan knows that the Shia Community which gave there lives to save Islam , are also the Most Loyal citizens of Pakistan , the enemies of Shian e Haider Karar , are also the enemies of Pakistan.

As now that have been Proven that the Shia Community and Pakistan , has a common enemy so now the loyal Pakistani think tanks should give it a thought that This community which has laid thousand of life for Pakistan, and still the Most Loyal community of Pakistan should be kept in the fore front and given a chance to upgrade and elevate  Pakistan.

    Long live Pakistan

We must act now to prevent another Hiroshima – or worse

JNN 25 Dec 2010 : American leaders not only have abandoned existing treaty restraints but also have asserted plans to test and develop new weapons, including Anti-Ballistic missiles, the earth-penetrating ‘bunker buster’ and perhaps some new ‘small’ bombs.

Current US nuclear weapons policy is immoral, illegal, unnecessary and dreadfully dangerous, which create unacceptable risks to other nations of the world.

The recent 65th anniversary of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki prompts only the most somber reflection and most fervent hope that the same crime may never be repeated. In the subsequent 65 years, those bombings have haunted the world’s imagination but not so much as to curb the development and spread of infinitely more lethal weapons of mass destruction.

A related concern, discussed in technical literature well before 11 September 2001, is that nuclear weapons may sooner or later fall into the hands of the so-called terrorist groups. US military expenditures approximate those of the rest of the world combined, while arms sales by 38 North American companies account for more than 60 per cent of the world total which has risen 25 per cent since 2002.

There have been efforts to strengthen the thin thread on which survival hangs. The most important is the nuclear NPT, which came into force in 1970. The regular Seven-year review conference of the NPT took place at the United Nations.

The NPT has been facing collapse, primarily because of the failure of the nuclear states to live up to their obligation under Article VI to pursue “good faith” efforts to eliminate all nuclear weapons. The United States has led the way in refusal to abide by the Article VI obligations. Head of the International Atomic Energy Agency emphasizes that “reluctance by one party to fulfill its obligations breeds reluctance in others”.

Former President Jimmy Carter blasted the United States as “the major culprit in the erosion of the NPT. While claiming to be protecting the world from proliferation threats, American leaders not only have abandoned existing treaty restraints but also have asserted plans to test and develop new weapons, including Anti-Ballistic missiles, and perhaps some new ‘small’ atomic bombs. They also have abandoned past pledges and now threaten first use of nuclear weapons against non-nuclear states”. Current US nuclear weapons policy is immoral, illegal, unnecessary and dreadfully dangerous, which create unacceptable risks to other nations of the world.

The Washington leadership put aside non-proliferation programs and devoted its energies and resources to driving the country to war by extraordinary deceit, then tried to manage the catastrophe it created in Iraq.

Peter Bergen, a US terrorism specialist, says in The Boston Globe that “the President is right that Iraq is a main front in the war on terrorism, but this is a front American leaders created”.

It is a critical era, in the United States, because of Washington’s primary role in accelerating the race to destruction by extending its historically unique military dominance, and in the UK too, which goes along with the US as its sincere loyalist ally. Activists to launch anti-Israeli ads in US

JNN 25 Dec 2010 : A group of US peace activists have planned to launch a campaign to condemn the Zionist regime crimes against Palestinians and to protest Washington’s support for Tel Aviv.

According to AFP, the Seattle Mideast Awareness Campaign decided to plaster anti-Israel ads on the sides of 12 local commuter buses starting Monday, on the third anniversary of the start of Israel’s war against the Gaza Strip.

“Israeli war crimes: your tax dollars at work,” has been written on the buses with pictures of Palestinian children standing around a demolished building.

The Zionist regime offensive against the coastal enclave, which began in December 2008, killed more than 1,400 Palestinians, mostly women and children.

Seattle activist Ed Mast said he was protesting a 2007 promise by the United States to give 30 billion dollars in military aid to Israel over the next decade.

Jundallah Chief Rigi nabbed in Pakistan

JNN 25 Dec 2o1o : ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has arrested Abdul Rauf Rigi, the new chief of outlawed terrorist group Jundallah, said an Iranian news agency.

According to the agency, Pakistani officials confirmed that Jundallah’s new chief has been arrested.

It should be mentioned here Rigi took charge of the terrorist outfit after his elder brother Abdul Malik was hanged in Iran. He was arrested by Iranian intelligence forces in February 2010 and executed in June for 79 counts of crime, including armed robbery, bombing operations and armed attacks on police and civilians.

On December 20, Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called on his counterpart Asif Ali Zardari to arrest “known” terrorists and extradite them to Iran.

Zardari assured the Iranian president that Pakistan would not withhold any help in uprooting terrorism.

The news agency did not disclose the location of Rigi’s arrest.

    Ecuador recognizes Palestinian Country

JNN 25 Dec 2010 : The Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry has announced that this country’s government recognizes Palestine as a free and independent country.

According to AFP, the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry issued a statement, announcing that the Ecuadorian President, Rafael Correa, on Friday officially signed the document which recognizes Palestine as an independent and free country based on the year 1967 borders.

This statement partly reads that Ecuador has made this decision to support the legal demand of the Palestinian nation for having an independent and free country, and this will play a fundamental and decisive role in the reconciliatory co-existence of Middle East’s regional countries through holding negotiations.

Previously, Brazil, Argentina, and Bolivia had recognized Palestine as an independent and free country based on the year 1967 borders.

Meanwhile, Uruguay has also announced that it will adopt a similar decision in early 2011.

Iran, Best model of Interaction among Religions

JNN 25 Dec 2010 : Prelate of the Diocese of Lebanon Archbishop Aram Keshishian referred to the Islamic Iran on Friday as the best model of interaction among different religions in the world.

According to IRNA, he made the remarks during a meeting with a group of managers and editors-in-chief of Iran’s major newspapers and news agencies who arrived in Beirut on Thursday on a week-long visit.

Archbishop Keshishian said that followers of all divine religions, including Armenians, were living freely in Iran.

Praising the way that Iran’s leadership and its government were treating Armenians in that country; the Archbishop said that Iranian Armenians even had two representatives in the country’s Parliament (Majlis).

Condemning any type of sacrilege against values of divine religions, Archbishop Keshishian called on leaders of different religions to make more interactions to prevent any violation against religious values in the future.

He also referred to the recent visit of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran to Lebanon noting that Tehran-Beirut ties were on the rise.

Bin Laden possibly dead; US silent

JNN 25 Dec 2010 : A former White House spokesman has lashed out at the US government for using ‘Osama bin Laden’ as a pretext to continue its occupation of Afghanistan.

Suggesting bin Laden may be dead, ex-spokesman Robert Weiner and James Lewis, a US national security analyst at Robert Weiner Associates wrote “Since 2004, we have seen no new bin Laden videos.”

The article published in The Washington Times last Thursday read

“We’ve only heard audios. One video released in 2007 could be a compilation of older videos. So why does the intelligence community continue to support the impression that he’s alive?”

The article read “Last week, al-Qaeda issued its annual Christmas threat to the United States, promising suicide bombings during the holidays. Here’s a better idea for a Christmas present from al-Qaeda: a video showing Osama bin Laden – or his grave.”

The two analysts in their article said “Is bin Laden dead or alive? Nobody seems to know for sure, or, if anybody does, he isn’t saying. The White House’s Afghanistan-Pakistan review this month didn’t even mention him despite an ongoing, decade-long manhunt.”

They also underlined that bin Laden is unlikely to be still alive due to his ill health.

Female Suicide Bomber Kill More than 80 in Bajaur, Pakistan

JNN 25 Dec 2010 : More than 80 were killed in a suicide bombing on a World Food Programme project and a series of helicopter raids against militant camps in northwestern Pakistan on Saturday, officials said.

A suicide bomber wearing a burqa, who some officials said was a woman, killed at least 43 people at a World Food Programme distribution point in a tribal area bordering Afghanistan.

The blast occurred in Khar, the main town of lawless Bajaur tribal district, once a stronghold of Taliban militants who have carried out several bombings and suicide attacks in the area.

Most of the victims belonged to the local Salarzai tribe which supported military action against the militants and formed a militia to force them from Bajaur.

“At least 43 people were killed and more than 100 wounded in the suicide bombing,” top tribal administration official Zakir Hussain said.

Separately, 40 militants were killed in Mohmand, another lawless tribal district, in a series of military raids, officials said.

There were conflicting reports about the identity of the bomber in Khar with some officials saying the attacker was a woman, while others claimed a man disguised in a burqa was responsible.

The bomber was intercepted at a checkpoint outside the ration distribution centre and the blast occurred during a search, Sohail Khan said.

The deputy administrator of Khar, Tariq Khan, told AFP that the bombing was carried out by a woman. “It was a female suicide bomber,” he said.

Tribal police officials Mubashir Khan and Munasib Khan also said the attacker was a woman, who resisted being searched and hurled a hand grenade at security guards at the checkpoint before triggering her bomb.

“I was waiting to be searched in a queue at the checkpoint outside the ration point and heard a grenade explosion. People started running in panic and then a huge blast occurred,” tribesman Mushtaq Khan told AFP in hospital.

Khan, who suffered injuries to his arm, said he saw many people lying on the ground in pools of blood amid a cloud of dust and smoke.

Salarzai tribespeople had set up a vigilante force to evict militants from their area, but officials declined to comment when asked if they were the bomber’s intended target.

A spokesman for Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the bombing.

“We carried out the suicide attack in Khar because these people had made a lashkar (tribal vigilante force) against us,” Azam Tariq told AFP in a telephone call.

Bajaur is one of seven Pakistani tribal districts, which the United States considers the global headquarters of Al-Qaeda and among the most dangerous places on Earth.

Security officials said they had been warned that two suicide bombers had entered Bajaur and would carry out attacks on December 22, but had changed their plans.

The local administration imposed an indefinite curfew in Khar while security forces patrolled streets and launched a search, officials said.

Doctor Mohammad Hafeez, head of the local state-run hospital, confirmed the death toll and said there were several women and children among the casualties.

In a first foreign reaction, British junior foreign minister Alistair Burt said, “This appalling attack on innocent refugees is a cruel reminder of the indiscriminate aims of the terrorists and an example of why the world must work together to do all we can to confront a menace without boundaries.”

In Mohmand, another tribal area, at least 40 militants were killed when helicopter gunships pounded their hideouts, officials said.

“Since yesterday Pakistani security forces helped by helicopter gunships carried out raids on suspected militant hideouts and killed 40 militants,” Mohmand’s top administration official Amjad Ali Khan told AFP.

Security forces had launched an operation in Baizai and Lakro villages following co-ordinated attacks on five checkposts on Friday in which 11 paramilitary soldiers and 24 militants were killed.

Pakistan’s military first conducted operations in Bajaur in August 2008 and have repeatedly claimed to have eliminated the Islamist militant threat.

Around 4,000 people have died in suicide and bomb attacks across Pakistan since government forces raided an extremist mosque in Islamabad in 2007. The attacks have been blamed on networks linked to the Taliban and Al-Qaeda.

Days of 'Dollar's dominance are counted now

JNN 23 Dec 2010 : Business analysts indicate that the US dollar’s status as the world’s reserve currency and the standard currency could be soon coming to an end.

This comes days after China and Russia decided to renounce the US dollar and resort to using their own currencies for bilateral trade.

“About trade settlement, we have decided to use our own currencies,” China Daily quoted Russian Premier Vladimir Putin as saying in a joint news conference with his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao in St. Petersburg on Tuesday.

The developments come as the two countries are accustomed to using the dollar and other Western currencies for bilateral trade. But the yuan has now started trading against the Russian ruble in the Chinese interbank market.

China has also announced it will continue to allow more currencies to trade in the domestic interbank foreign-exchange market in the coming weeks.

In addition, BusinessWeek has said in a recent report that Moscow and Beijing have also called for the dollar’s role in the financial system to be diluted.

The decision comes days after China blasted a US decision to inject hundreds of billions of dollars into the US banking system.

Chinese Vice Finance Minister Zhu Guangyao said Washington was ignoring its responsibility to support emerging economies.

“The US has not fully taken into consideration the shock of excessive capital flows to the financial stability of emerging markets,” Zhu told reporters in Beijing in early November.

The US Federal Reserve has announced plans to pump USD 600 billion into its economy by the end of June 2011.

This is while China has continued to resist pressures from the US to raise the value of its yuan currency against the US dollar. Senior officials in Beijing say China will firmly stick to its own path for reforming the yuan.

The currency debate has intensified tension between the US and China. Washington says China holds the yuan low so that Chinese goods can enjoy an artificial competitive edge.

Relations between Beijing and Washington have been deteriorating over a number of issues, including the Pentagon arms sales to Taiwan.
