Leader of Islamic Revolution referred to IRI-Qatar ties as an example of outstanding relations in the region and said the Persian Gulf region should be a safe, secure, and flourishing area through neighboring countries’ cooperation.

Ayatollah Khamenei said there are foreign efforts to prevent the countries in the region from achieving this goal, adding all the regional countries should make efforts to thwart foreigners’ plots.

The Leader of Islamic Revolution appreciated the Qatari government’s stance against the Zionist regime’s 33-day invasion of Lebanon as well as the 22-day attack to the Gaza Strip.

Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out that in the case of Lebanon and the Gaza, it was expected that the Arab states, due to common religious background, took sides with the defenseless Lebanese and Palestinian youths in Gaza, but unfortunately some Arab governments’ stance was frustrating.

“More efforts must be made to promote economic relations more than ever,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.
The leader of Islamic Revolution expressed satisfaction with Tehran-Doha relations and said, “One reason for close relations between the two countries is that all Islamic nations in the region have common enemies.”

Ayatollah Khamenei said the enemies were trying to marginalize main issues while rendering trifles as key issues.

Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani in return expressed deep satisfaction of his meeting with the Leader of Islamic Revolution and appreciated Iran’s stance regarding Islamic-Arabic issues especially Palestine.

The Emir of Qatar referred to Iran and Qatar’s shared viewpoints and urged all the regional states not to yield to foreign pressure.

Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani voiced hope for rapid growth in relations between the two countries, particularly in economic matters.

Tide turning in favor of Iran and Syria: Ahmadinejad

TEHRAN, Oct. 6 Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says that the tide is turning in favor of Iran and Syria in the region.

“In light of the fact that the global situation is changing rapidly and the domineering powers are declining, Iran and Syria should coordinate when making big decisions,” Ahmadinejad told visiting Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem here on Wednesday.

“If this coordination is conspicuous, the other regional countries will definitely join, and this way a great political, economic, and cultural power will be established in the Middle East region,” he added.

Muallem said that Tehran-Damascus relations are so strong that no country can undermine them.

The Syrian foreign minister also called for the expansion of ties between the two countries.

Persian Gulf must be a safe place for cooperation

TEHRAN, Oct. 6 “The Persian Gulf must be turned into a safe and prosperous region and a place for cooperation,” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, said at a meeting with Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Hamad ibn Khalifa Al-Thani, late Thursday.

Calling relations between Qatar and Iran exemplary, Ayatollah Khamenei said foreigners are making efforts to halt such kinds of cooperation among the Persian Gulf littoral states.

“All regional countries must try to prevent the realization of foreigners’ wishes,” the Leader insisted.

The Leader expressed his gratitude to Qatar for its positions toward Israel’s 33-day war on Lebanon and the 22-day war on Gaza as well as the subsequent issues.

The Leader went on to say that that Arab governments were expected to stand up for the people of Lebanon and Gaza, but that some of them failed to adopt an appropriate stance.

Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to the exemplary political relationship between Iran and Qatar and their common stance towards numerous issues, reiterating that further efforts should be made to expand economic ties.

The Leader expressed his satisfaction over the growing relationship between Tehran and Doha.

“The existence of common enemies that threaten the Islamic Ummah and the people of the region is one of the several reasons behind the close relations between the two countries.”

Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated that the enemies highlight minor issues by sidelining major issues. “Using a certain tactic, they go after Muslim countries one after the other. Therefore, all the regional countries should develop a deep understanding of this issue and expand their relations.”

For his part, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani thanked Iran for its positions toward Arab and Islamic issues, especially the Palestine issue.

The Qatari emir pointed to the two countries’ common stance towards regional issues, saying “Through resisting against the divisive acts of foreigners, all the regional countries should prepare the ground for further stability, security, and cooperation in the region.”
