Pakistani Shia-Sunni Observes anniversary of the demolition of the Jannatul Baqee
Scholars, groups and supporters of the Shia and Sunni faiths observed Condemnation Day on Monday to mark the anniversary of the demolition of the holy shrines and graves of the wives and companions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in Madinah’s Jannatul Baqee graveyard in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan, Jafaria Alliance, Imamia Students Organisation, Khoja (Pirhai) Shia Isna Asheri Jamaat, Tehreek Nafaz-e-Fiqh-e-Jafariya’s Hamid Mousavi group and other organisations held conferences, and staged protest demonstrations and mourning processions on MA Jinnah Road and outside the Karachi Press Club.
Leaders of the protesting groups and custodians of the shrines vowed to continue their struggle until the reconstruction of the holy shrines and graves.
“Many holy shrines and graves were razed on the orders of Saudi Wahhabi King,” said one of the protestors. Another conference on the protection of the graveyard and other holy shrines was held under the aegis of JA on Khorasan Road.
Former senator Allama Abbas Kumaili, JUP leader Qazi Ahmed Noorani Siddiqui, Maulana Hussain Masoodi, Khuwaja Amin Nizami, Allama Ali Karar Naqvi, Khuwaja Adnan Nizami and others demanded the Saudi Arabian King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud to reconstruct the tombs of IMAM HASAN B. ALI (2ND IMAM), IMAM ALI B. AL-HUSAYN (4TH IMAM), IMAM MUHAMMAD B. ALI (5TH IMAM), & IMAM JA’FAR B. MUHAMMAD (6TH IMAM), PEACE BE UPON THEM, and also the holy shrines of the Prophet’s (PBUH) wives and his companions, in Jannatul Baqee and Makkah’s Jannatul Mualla (Mecca).
Addressing the protestors’ gathering, the speakers said that emblems and the tombs of holy personages at Jannat al-Mualla (Makkah) where the Holy Prophet (s)’s mother, wife, grandfather and other ancestors are buried, while their protection, defence, renovation and construction was in accordance with the Shariah, and therein lay the success, supremacy and survival of the Islamic world. “These holy places are the assets of the whole Islamic Ummah and every honourable nation defends its assets,” said Kumaili.
Siddiqui urged King Abdullah to play his role in the reconstruction.
